Wrestling Information

Type: Patriotic Powerhouse

Strategy: As her namesake suggests, Mighty Star is rather strong. More than capable of lifting and hurling most any foes she might encounter inside or outside of the ring. Her General plan is to out-muscle and dominate the competition with power moves and locking them down with her amateur wrestling background. What she has in strength however, she lacks in technical aspects of professional wrestling know how. She is a grappler through and through and even though she mixes in strikes and aerial moves for flash, her go to always involves grabbing hold and taking her opponents up off the canvas where she can put them where she wants them.

Offensively she is overly aggressive, trying to stay on her opponents to some degree throughout the whole match to make sure she can keep them under control. Where she falters is her lack of solid defenses. When it comes to blocking or reversing grapples, she is fine, but dodging strikes or getting locked down in holds are a big issue for her. Submissionists in particular are something she has difficulty with dealing with. While able to muscle through punishment, her stamina reserves aren't the best when it comes to how much energy she burns throwing opponents around and she can run out of gas quite easily in long drawn out encounters if she doesn't take a breather. She burns bright and fast, looking to close out matches in fast dominating fashion while giving the fans a good show.

Personality:

The Indomitable Mighty Star is a pillar of justice and duty who will always face down evil wherever it reads its ugly head. She is an honorable woman who holds true to a personal code of conduct even when it comes at a detriment to herself. Sometimes the path of a heroine is a difficult one but she strives to persevere. Fiercely patriotic, her love of America can sometimes make here seem a bit full of herself and her country but she means well. Generally optimistic, she is always looking to help out where she can to brighten someone's day or lend a helping hand.

Outside of her heroic persona, Jenny Murphy is nearly the same sunny sided optimist. She keeps her outspoken heroic tendencies to a minimum, treating her real life self as her actual alter ego. She can even be seen wearing a pair of fake glasses outside the ring when out of costume, masquerading as a mild mannered AFW magazine photographer. While it's not exactly the most well kept secret in the business, nobody really seems to question it.

History:

Cheer squad was the place to be. Though it was generally at the bottom of the pyramid. While she as exceptionally gifted when it came to the acrobatics involved in cheer, her real power was the literal sort. Jenny Murphy was always a bit larger and stronger than her fellow cheerleaders so it often fell on her shoulders to carry the team, literally. This role carried over out of practice and the field, becoming the cheerleader squad's own little bodyguard when someone decided to get handsy in the halls or at a party. This became very apparent to most of the student body when the captain of the junior varsity wrestling team picked a fight with her and was promptly put through a coffee table.

Aside from earning her a great deal of "cool kid" cred in the halls, it got a few people pushing her in the direction of the school's wrestling program. She took to it like a fish in water, using her natural muscle along with the flexibility she had from cheer squad and put the league through their paces. Jenny went on to be something of a force of nature, able to tangle with all the big boys on the mat and made a name for herself as a no nonsense girl not to be trifled with. She rotated seasons between wrestling and cheer squad throughout the remainder of her time in High School managing to earn herself no shortage of scholarships once it was time to graduate.

Her interests however didn't involve continued education. She went on and took her passion of patriotism and athleticism on the road. She joined up with a touring USO group of showgirls and put her cheering skills back on display again. Over time, their show evolved and their popularity rose and she pitched the idea of included staged action set pieces into their show. Thus, Might Star was born. The mascot of the troop, she was an all American Heroine combating all sorts of colorful, and quiet possibly racist stereotypes. The lighthearted antics and play fights would soon turn to staged professional wrestling bouts, working side by side a few big federations a few times a year. She picked up some moves and learned the craft, mixing it with her own background to add some extra weight to the performance.

Their elaborate show did so well they were even shipped out over seas to perform, where she was scouted by a talent agent for AFW. Given the opportunity to share her low of performing and patriotism to a new shore, she jumped at the offer. While she was an unstoppable hero in her act, its time for her to put her skills to the test against actual competitors. Its been awhile since she last had to really throw down, so hopefully she could work off some of the rust and be the hero AFW deserves!

Fun Facts:

Picture Perfect: Jenny works part time for AFW magazine as a photographer. She somehow always manages to get great promotional shots of Mighty Star.

Monolinguist: Digital classes, flash cards, pocket dictionaries... She had tried a lot of things to learn Japanese once she decided to move her career out to Kyoto. Try being the operative word. Her Japanese is abysmal, leading to some rather unfortunate attempts to speak to the locals in their native tongue.

Marketable: She and a few of the girls from her USO show actually have an action figure line out! Half of the profits of any purchase made goes to support the troops!
