Wrestling Information

Strategy: Bacchus is a master Taekwondo practitioner, and is also adequately proficient in grappling. So one might think she’d focus a lot on her kicks, and support it with a simple grappling game as needed, and she will certainly do those things. However, her fighting style in matches can at best be described as erratic. She’s a total thrillseeker and will generally do whatever seems like the most fun thing to do at any moment. She loves going for flashy, high-risk dives, and extravagant maneuvers that are very difficult to pull off but reap huge rewards when successful. Making Bacchus even more unpredictable is the fact that she is almost always drunk to some degree, varying from “slightly buzzed” to “fucking wasted as hell.” At her best she can put up a phenomenal fight against some of the best wrestlers around, and at her worst she could struggle against those among the lowest in the company’s rankings.

*All stats will vary greatly from their base listing depending on how intoxicated she is during the match.

Strengths: Bacchus boasts some of the strongest and fastest kicks in the game. Those combined with her unpredictability can make her extremely dangerous.

Weaknesses: Her bad drinking habits can seriously throw her off her game, as can her tendency to prioritize whatever seems most enjoyable in the moment over what would be smart. As a result, she may do something unwise like go for reckless dives off the top rope when it's not warranted, or let an opponent hit her as hard as she can just to see if she can take it.

Signature Moves:

Corkscrew Kick: When her opponent is dazed and on all fours, Bacchus leaps toward her foe while executing a corkscrew in the air, then swings a downward kick at the back of the target’s head. While devastating if it hits, the move is extremely difficult to execute, particularly if she’s intoxicated (though that won’t ever stop her from trying it). It’s also not uncommon for her to miss the head and hit the neck or back instead.
Corkscrew Kick:

Double Tap: In quick succession, Bacchus throws a roundhouse kick into the stomach of an opponent to stun them, immediately followed by another kick with the opposite foot to the back of their head.
Double Tap:

Poison Rana: While either seated on her foe’s shoulders or after leaping behind them, Bacchus coils her strong legs around the head and neck of her target, then flips back and pulls them with her, driving them down onto their head.
Poison Rana:

Finishing Moves:
Backlash: A brutal spinning backfist, often strong enough to put her foes down for an easy three count. She considers this her “primary” finisher, mostly because it’s the easiest of them to execute and the one she uses most often.
Backlash:

Shouten: Bacchus lifts the opponent up as she would for a standard suplex, then swings them down into a devastating side slam. This extravagant move is difficult to use, even more so when she’s drunk, but can easily finish off a match if used successfully.
Shouten:

Spinning Heel Kick: When the opponent is within range, Bacchus whips around and sends a foot crashing right into their face at lightning quick speed. The force of the kick alone is often enough to leave the target unconscious before they even hit the ground.
Spinning Heel Kick:

Personality: Bacchus just wants to have fun and get drunk. She’s a thrillseeker seemingly constantly getting into some sort of trouble. Naturally that extends into her matches. Despite her immense talent in taekwondo, she’ll incorporate a bizarre arsenal of difficult, risky and flashy moves just because she finds it fun. But very little ever seems to anger her. Throw the most hurtful insults possible at her, and she’ll just laugh it off. Disrespect or even cheat against her, same thing. Bacchus takes very few things seriously. She doesn’t care if she wins championships, or even if she wins her matches. As long as she has a good time, the rest is irrelevant. One of the only things she does take seriously is her alcohol. Fuck with her booze, and you’ll soon wish you’d never been born. Bacchus is almost always at least somewhat drunk, even in her matches, and the fact that that can alter her chances of success doesn’t matter to her in the slightest.

Past/History: Liao Jun was born into a poor family on the outskirts of Changzhou, China, where she began taking taekwondo lessons at an early age and proved to be a real prodigy. But, soon coming to the realization they couldn’t afford both the lessons and the tuition costs of sending her to school, they decided to homeschool her so she could do both. In several ways this proved to be an unwise choice on their part. Neither of them were effective teachers, and as she grew older Liao became very free-spirited and rebellious. She often ignored the work her parents tried to make her do, and would go off on her own to get into trouble with her friends. This behavior continued through her late teens, by which time she’d long since added drinking to her less than approvable behavior. Eventually she moved out of her parents’ home to live with some of her friends. All through this she continued to thrive in taekwondo, and frequently won at competitions held locally.

After one such event, the coach of China’s Olympic taekwondo team, impressed by the skills she demonstrated, approached her and encouraged her to try out for the team. Initially ecstatic, she happily took the opportunity, and made the team. But her drinking habits soon became a problem. She showed up to training sessions drunk, or would blow them off altogether just to go drinking instead. Everyone assumed she was just arrogantly assuming she didn’t need to train to be on par with the others. That may have been part of it, but really it was more of her free spirit getting in the way of her responsibilities. Regardless, the team captain found and confronted her at a local bar during one of these instances, and threw Liao’s drink across the room in a fit of anger. That proved to be a costly mistake. Liao was on her in an instant. And before the captain even knew what had hit her she already had a broken nose and fractured orbital socket. The rest of the team soon arrived and broke it up, but the damage was already done by then, and Liao was promptly kicked off the team. Whether or not she would have performed well in the olympics, the world may never know.

But none of that got Liao down. Knowing that fighting was the only talent she had that could earn her money, she fought at local wrestling shows. Most promoters knew about her incident and thought having a wildcard like her on the show would be a nice addition. Sometimes they were right, and she’d put on a kickass performance or an impressive, dominant win. Other times she’d show up clearly drunk, and wind up losing against opponents who never would’ve had a remote chance against her if she’d been sober. Initially this made promoters furious, but when the fans surprisingly liked seeing her fight drunk, most of them got over it. At one point someone commented to her that she drank so much she might as well be Bacchus, the Roman god of wine. She liked the sound of it and started using the name as an alias, not particularly caring that the name was meant for a Roman "god" and not a "goddess." Eventually her notoriety began to spread, and footage of her matches reached talent recruits in AFW, who then contacted her about working as a member of the Friction roster. Bacchus wasn’t sure if they wanted her because of her talent as a fighter, or for the novelty of her “gimmick,” as more than a few had called it. Or for all she knew, it could've just been because she was good looking and had big tits. Whatever the case, it hardly mattered. It was more money, which meant more booze, which was good enough for her.

Fun Facts:

- Bacchus’ aunt is the mother of Minerva Larsen, making them cousins. They’ve never met, and all Bacchus knows about it is that her mother and Minerva’s mother hate each other because of some sort of financial dispute between them.

- Her favorite drink is a Chinese beverage called Baiju, which is clear like vodka, but has a very distinct taste. Whenever she visits a new place for a drink, she always asks if they have that before even bothering to consider her other options.

- She carries a small brown gourd with her at all times, which is always filled with Baiju (unless she’s out of that, in which case it would likely just be whiskey). She’ll even bring it with her to the ring for most of her matches in case she ever feels like pausing for a quick swig.

- One of the rare times Bacchus can consistently be found sober is on the occasions she shows up at Kristen Alonso’s club to participate on “Fight Night.” But that’s only because she gets free drinks for the night when she wins, so she wants to come into these fights at 100% to help ensure her victory.

- The number "4" is considered unlucky in China because the Chinese word for it is very close to the word for "death." When Bacchus had the number tattooed onto her back, it was first believed by many she did it to label herself as an omen of bad luck for her enemies. The truth is she did it to attract obstacles and misfortune, as a testament to her fearless and reckless approach to life.
