There were a lot of reasons that Valley opted for kickpads on her latest outfit. Stylish, the way they looked so great, gave her some MMA flair. The way they protected her best asset as a wrestler, made it so that she could get a few extra kicks out of any skirmish. The way they helped her out against fellow strikers, saved her shins in case her legs clashed with someone else’s.

But - and this was a little silly, she had to admit - she always liked the way they made her flush kicks sound when they struck a body part head on. Oh, heavenly sound when her shin connected with Julia’s chest. Made her day every time.

She stopped being pleased with herself long enough to draw back in on Julia, closing in as her rival retreated to the corner. It was tempted to go for something a little daring, try to take advantage of the position, but Valley wanted to play this one a little less high-risk than usual, stick with the more old-school methods. Such as…

Valley reached out and grabbed Julia’s head, pulling her out of the corner for a step. With a little distance now, she turned around, pulled the cowgirl over her shoulder with the tight grip, and tried to dump her flat on her pretty butt, going for a classic snapmare.

Julia watched as Valley came toward her, inwardly hoping that the girl would actually attempt something more to the high flying side she was used to seeing from her. Granted, things could’ve gone horribly for Julia very quick if she had attempted something big and pulled it off. But the chances that the cowgirl might’ve found a way to counter, and let Valley crash and burn might be significantly better too.

Wishful thinking, however. Valley kept it simple, leaving little room for effective resistance on Julia’s part. The masked blonde was led out of the corner, but then noticed Valley turning herself and preparing to flip the luchadora over with a snapmare. Oh, did Julia have a counter for that. The second Valley pulled her forward, the cowgirl threw herself forward with it into a full flip, punctuated by a flawless landing right on her feet! ...Or at least it would’ve been, except...

“Agh! Fuck!” Julia cursed, cringing as a sharp pain caused her wounded leg to buckle under her, forcing her down to a knee. Finally she had an opening to launch into some of those dazzling acrobatics that had carried her to so much success, but it was still proving just too hard to fly with that broken wing right. This was really becoming a serious nuisance fast...

Valley had a brief moment of panic as she flipped Julia over. Not because she was doing the move wrong - really, she wasn’t even aware how anyone could mess up a snapmare. Simple move, great for setting up, Julia would be wide open to so many lovely things.

What brought the worry on was the feeling that her opponent was going to counteract the hold, that she was overshooting it and going to land squarely on her feet, while Valley was still on her knees behind. Much less of an advantage position.

Fortunately, her strategy for this match, still young, was already paying off, as Julia was forced down to one knee. Not quite was Valley was hoping for, but that was the great thing about having a wide ranging moveset, like they both possessed. There was a move for every situation.

While Julia dealt with her aching leg, Valley stood up and went back on the attack. ”Double!” She fired off with a soccer-style kick to the cowgirl’s spine. ”Tap!” Another one followed right after that, with her leg never touching the ground, targeting the same spot. Laser precision, dynamite force.

Julia may not have wound up sitting on her rear like Valley had intended, but being down on a knee was hardly any different. It certainly didn’t do anything to help the cowgirl avoid the heavy kick that blasted directly into her back.

“GAH!” she cried out, tensing up and arching her back in reaction to the kick. But then another immediately followed, cracking the masked blonde right in the same spot again. Another cry of pain burst from her lips as this time the kick jolted her forward onto her hands and knees.

But then, with grit teeth the luchadora rose back to a kneeling position, keeping her back exposed to Valley. One hand rested on her aching leg, while the other pointed a thumb toward her back.

“What was that? A mosquito?! C’mon, Val. I know you can do better than that!” she yelled to her foe. Was it a good idea to goad Valley into kicking at her again? Not likely. But as badly as things had been going for Julia so far in this match, she still wasn’t about to let Valley think she’d managed to break the cowgirl’s confidence down even for a second!

Valley’s kick struck like a whip. A large, powerful whip, with plenty of muscle behind it, in staccato fashion. She’d often heard that doubling up like that wasn’t effective, but she found the opposite to be true. Maybe it lessened the immediate pain, but her opponent would be feeling those blows for a while to come. She was certain Julia would agree.

She took a step away to admire her work, with a few quick huffs and puffs. Julia was hanging in there, always tough, a sure sign that it would take many, many more kicks to finish this off.

Good. Valley had plenty to give.

”Mosquito, huh?” Valley smirked, accepting Julia’s challenge. She’d worked the cowgirl over enough now, she could indulge with something fancy, so long as it was equally effective. She had just the move, too. Kick #232, coming right up.

She skipped over to Julia’s front, raised up her leg with a quick frontal split, then let it fall, hard and fast, towards the top of Julia’s skull, looking to knock her flat with an axe kick.

Julia Rogers knew a thing or two about axe kicks. She’d ended lots of matches with them, including here in Friction. Hikaru Date could attest to that, and even Valley Doll herself. As she knelt there, the masked cowgirl braced herself for what she’d expected to be a much harder roundhouse kick to her torso.

But when she saw Valley raise that leg up high, as tough a cookie as Julia liked to think she was, she knew there was no tanking this one.

Not having enough time to will her body completely out of the way, however, Julia was forced to raise her arms up over her head in defense. She hissed as the boot came crashing down over her wrists with an impact that was sure to leave a nasty bruise that wouldn’t be going away any time soon. But she also bit through the pain, and attempted to latch her arms onto the leg before Valley could pull it away.

If she could get a hold of it, Julia quickly would push up to a vertical base with her good leg while tucking the leg under her arm, then quickly drop right back down while twisting her body under Valley’s leg, hoping to send a sharp jolt of pain through the limb with a dragon screw!

Valley wanted to have a nice, lengthy battle with Julia Rogers. She wanted to have a match that, if she and Ace ever adopted, they could show to their children someday. She wanted a good, entertaining bout.

But she also wanted to win, badly, and if her kick connected that would be a strong likelihood. It wouldn’t just rock her skull, but it would slam Julia’s face into the mat. Not the sort of thing one gets up from before three seconds, typically. Her leg came down like a guillotine, and this would’ve been the moment where many on the Friction roster would’ve been done, even if you didn't count kawaiis. But Julia Rogers wasn’t ‘many’.

Instead, Valley’s kick was blocked, and she grimaced at the annoyance. She started to pull back, going to settle for just stomping her into the mat, but that would’ve taken about two seconds. Julia only needed one.

Valley made a very undignified noise as she was flung away by the dragon screw, sent flying head-over-heels. She might’ve rolled out of the ring altogether, but her back hit the bottom rope and she bounced back inside.

It was Valley’s time to be on her hands and knees now, as she pushed herself up and tried to cope with the dissipating dizziness.

Julia now had a few more aching pains to worry about. Both her wrists felt like someone had swung a bat at them. And they’d probably feel like that for quite a while even after this match was over. But it was much better than the alternative of her head getting kicked in, and her lying unconscious on the mat.

Not to mention Julia had finally bought a desperately needed opening. Now Valley was down, and the cowgirl had a chance to start turning things around.

Quickly moving up to her feet - or rather, foot, Julia hurried off into the ropes and bounded back toward foe. Her movement was more akin to a high speed hobble than it was a sprint, but she was still moving fast, and that was what mattered. And once the distance between them was closed, Julia would leap toward her foe while throwing the boot of her good leg straight at Valley’s head, hoping to drop her right back down to the mat with a single leg dropkick!

Ah, the dragon screw. Given how much Valley liked to kick things, she was a little surprised she didn't get hit with the move more often. It was effective, as her friend Alicia had likely learned when she fought Adrian at Avalanche. Once it was put into motion, all you could really do was go along with it.

But she was okay. She was fine. It wasn't done devastating attack, it was the leg equivalent of an arm drag. More disorienting than anything.

Valley had just enough time to turn her head to side, looking for Julia, when she abruptly found the cowgirl. Or, to be more exact, she found Julia’s boot. It cracked her hard across the face and put Valley’s whole body into a spin, the force of the impact, sending her into a whirlwind.

With her head aching and her jaw sore, Valley went into a roll and dropped out of the ring and onto the floor. She landed on her feet and stumbled away from the apron, taking a moment to compose herself.

Julia’s boot slammed right into Valley’s pretty face, sending her right through the ropes and out of the ring! But, as Valley herself no doubt knew perfectly well, the ringside area was far from a safe place to be in a match like this. In fact, Julia would’ve bet every dollar she had that even as her foe collected herself on the outside, she was just waiting for her to come flying over the top rope.

Well, she wouldn’t be entirely wrong about such an expectation. But rather than coming over the top rope, Julia rolled under the bottom rope right after Valley had fallen out of the ring. Using the ropes for leverage she pulled herself onto her good leg, making sure to keep pressure off the other one.

Eyeing Valley like a tiger stalking a gazelle through a patch of tall grass, she waited for the other blonde to just start turning toward her. Then she’d take a step forward and throw herself right at her foe, flipping forward through the air and attempting to blast into Valley with a senton off the apron!
