Dave "Obsidian" Blake's Apartment

Dave entered his apartment, overjoyed at his debut victory at AFW. Talk about starting strong right out of the gate! Plus he got to get antiquated with Jean, who he had no doubt believing would be a good friend here in the league.

Speaking of which......

Pulling out his phone, Dave sent a text over to Jean.

Hey man,
Here's the address to my apartment. Let me know when you are coming over that way I can be ready!

Jean had been relaxing, reading a book in his apartment when his phone lit up with a text. Reaching over to pick it up, he was pleased to see it was a text from Dave inviting him over. He quickly sent a reply, washed his face and checked his hair in the mirror, and then headed over.

'Sounds great, man! Gimme 30 mins, kay? -Jean'

True to his word, about 30 minutes later Jean arrived on his doorstep, knocking twice politely on her door. Today he was wearing a short sleeved v-neck tee and black pants, very similar to what he wore in his rocker days.

Dave, hearing the knock, went to the door, trying to hide his excitement as he opened the door and saw Jean.

"Hey man!" he greeted with a wide smile.

While waiting for an answer, Jean stuck his hands in his pockets and looked around. Why was it taking so long? Where was Dave? Did he have the right apartment number? The right day? Jean wasn't sure why he was nervous, perhaps it was because they were still newly acquainted friends? He heard the click of a lock being turned and smiled when Dave opened the door, offering a slight wave of his own as greeting.

"Heya, thanks for inviting me over! You've got a nice place here" he said, judging from what all he could see outside and through the doorway.

"Yeah." Dave said, scratching the back of his head nervously, "It's not much, but it's home."

He led Jean in and shut the door, "want something to drink? All I got besides the healthy drinks is soda." he finished with a laugh.

"Just water would be fine, thanks" Jean replied as he looked around, hands still inside his pockets. After their match, Jean had gotten a chance to do some research on Dave and had found out a few things. Apparently he was a bit of a comic book buff, having named his finishers after characters and events and even his intro belonging to a movie. He was half-expecting one of those "live in the basement with their mom" types, but it was nice to see that Dave lived on his own.

"So whaddya want to do today? I've got nothing but time and nowhere else to be" he said with a smile.

"Well that's one thing we seem to have in common." Dave laughed, tossing a water to him.

"Noticed the comic stuff huh? Yeah, I'm a comic book geek. Growing up, I really didn't have any one to look up to, except hand drawn characters on a page. They inspired me to never back down from anyone." he said, looking around his place with a smile.

Jean accepted the water bottle graciously and unscrewed the top to take a few sips. What Dave was saying about comics was a bit hard for him to relate to, but at least he could understand what they meant to him.

"I was always more of a music-oriented kid, always driving the parents nuts by making some kind of noise. Still not sure exactly why I got into wrestling, but so far it hasn't been all that bad. I mean, aside from losing all my official matches so far" he said with a slight laugh, rubbing the back of his neck.

Dave patted his back, "Don't worry man. You got serious talent. You just need another shot. I heard about your previous match. Man that was some dirty tactics with her biting you."

He shook his head, looking a little annoyed, "I'm not a huge fan of people who resort to dirty tactics the first chance they get. I lost quite a few matches back home because of people like that."

"But you say you're into music. What kind? Rock?" he asked.

Jean shrugged when Dave brought up the specifics of his first match, it was still somewhat of a sore spot for him. He didn't want to think about Juniper or her toe-biting or the way he had embarrassingly given up. He was more mad at himself about it than anything, so it was a welcome change of pace when Dave changed the topic.

"Yeah, actually, how'd you guess?" he said with a laugh, setting his water bottle down on the counter. "I used to do lead vocals and played bass for a rock band back in France, but we were kind of a one-hit wonder, I think you call it. For a long time we were indie and had a small but loyal fanbase. Then one night we got lucky and were scouted by a label, but once we signed our popularity seemed to explode and then disappear into nothing shortly after. We had a good run but it wasn't meant to be, I guess" he sighed, his eyes glazing over as he reminisced about the olden days.
