Throughout her childhood, her mother, a former veteran in the wrestling ring, has sheltered her and always tried to keep her away from wrestling, and anything having to do with fame. However, in high school, she was quite the problem child. She'd constantly get into fights with other girls, and brutally win each and every encounter. It led to the police giving her a chance to turn herself around by practicing martial arts or wrestling, or just going to jail. She picked wrestling, hoping to learn more about her mother, but to her surprise, she found a lot of enjoyment in the sport. It's where she met her first friend, Louise Zahara. Though she was surprised that the two had the same last name, the two came to an agreement that they were probably distant relatives. They eventually formed a tag team together, and grew closer as friends.
They'd meet each other's mothers and find out that the two were sisters. Aya Zahara took advantage of Sydney rebellious state against her mother to pull her towards her side, and when she least expected it, it led to the collapse of their family. Her father had already been absent, the man having wanted a son, but the remaining members of Femi's loyal guard and servants had been slaughtered, and her House finally collapsed, all thanks to Sydney's actions. Out of guilt, she fought Aya and came out on top, stealing the championship from her, and eventually turning Louise against her own mother. Especially when Louise found out she was a bastard child. Moreover, finding out that they were cursed with scarlet eyes, she hung up her wrestling boots and became a scientist to try and figure out a way to free their family from the curse.
The two had promised to never have kids, but Sydney would soon break that promise as she found who would become her husband in the ring. The two got married, and had two children. It broke apart their friendship, and at the end of Sydney's reign as champ, she lost her championship, Louise mysteriously dying weeks before her belt defense.

After the passing of her best friend, Sydney had been far too distracted with grief to focus on defending her title against a newcomer to the field. It allowed for her to eventually lose her championship, and be seen as a joke in the wrestling industry—Sydney taking the worst ass-kicking of her life. It caused her to fully step down from wrestling and raise her kids, but tragedy would strike when her husband got into a car accident, alongside her two children. Both were missing, and she completely lost her mind, but after a few days, the two would re-emerge completely unscathed. She investigated what had happened to them, but her daughter couldn't remember a thing.
She soon started an investigation, where she found out that her aunt, Aya Zahara was behind it. Afraid that she would come after her children again, she distanced herself and sent them back to Greece to live a normal life, far from the dangers brought by her aunt. However, for years, she'd go into hiding with her mother, Femi Zahara. The two, knowing they can't do anything to stop Aya, and that her power far surpassed theirs.
Decades later, Sydney would come back to AFW, alongside her mother, to try and save Yona from being under the palm of Aya. Aware of the danger, the two went anyway to save her daughter, but while Femi got distracted with romantic endeavors, Sydney would be brought back into her depressive state, never finding much success in the ring, and questioning her passion for wrestling. Her loss of the championship is something that haunts her throughout her time at AFW, but in the end, she reminds herself that she's there for her daughter. In a sense, her self-doubt and depressive state had always stopped her from reaching her potential, that her daughter would surely meet, and surpass.
