Outside the ring, Karen is a friendly, outgoing and even humble person who is easy to get along with. She will share a laugh and a drink with a fellow wrestler, and doesn't take herself or her profession too seriously. In the ring, however, she becomes a completely different person, becoming much more aggressive and even hostile with her opponent as she holds nothing back, going all out to win no matter how ruthless she has to be. Even so, as rough as Karen gets, she will still stick rigidly to the rules of the match, and won't go out of her way to punish her opponent more than is necessary (especially if she is fighting someone she likes or respects).

▌  Background
Karen was born on South Island in New Zealand, the daughter of a doctor and a biologist. Growing up in a household that seemed to revolve around the health and sciences, it was always expected that Karen would follow in her parents' footsteps. And indeed, when she was doing her undergrad at the University of Wellington, she nearly did. However, she had always been quite athletic growing up, and out of curiosity ended up joining a student pro wrestling club. She quickly fell in love with it: the dynamic moves, the athleticism, the action all gave her a thrill that she had been missing in her life. It was for this reason that, once her undergrads were completed, she signed up for a local pro wrestling league.

Eventually, after a few years of wrestling in circuits in New Zealand and Australia, she ended up joining the Wrestle Pro Janken league in Japan. There, she quickly rose to become one of the top stars, and gained a reputation as a relentless heavy hitter. She even nearly won the league's championship belt, only to be beaten in the final climactic match by her friend and rival, Rikka Aisawa.

Eventually, though, the Wrestle Pro Janken league disbanded; now looking for new prospects, Karen turned her attention to LAW, with its massive roster of talented female stars.


▌  Trivia
-Karen's unofficial nickname is "Butterfly," partly because of the butterfly print on her ring outfit, and partly as a joke-- one of her opponents in Japan mockingly called her 'Butterfly' to highlight her comparative lack of speed, grace or elegance. Karen took the insult in stride, though (after pummeling said opponent in the ring, that was) and happily adopted the nickname afterwards
-As a result of her travels, Karen speaks multiple languages, including English, Maori, and Arande. She also knows a smattering of Tok Pisin, Samoan, and Japanese, though she speaks these less well
-Her background is quite diverse; she is a member of the Ngati Tahu Whanui Maori nation, and not only English and Maori, but also Aboriginal Australian and even Indian roots. As far as Karen is concerned, this just makes her a typical Kiwi and no less of a Maori.
-While Karen doesn't subscribe to most of the New Zealand stereotypes, she follows rugby avidly and is a rabid All Blacks fan; on occasion she has even entered the ring wearing an All Blacks t-shirt (though she took it off before the actual match began)
-Although fans have frequently asked her this, she keeps maintaining that no, she will never do a haka in the ring. Not unless an opponent has really pissed her off, or has done a lot to earn her respect...
