Character Adoption

Character Adoption
Character Adoption
Character adoption is where you, in either one of two methods, wish to inherit a character that was created by another member.
The FIRST method is when you are just adopting the image claim of another member's character profile. For example, saying you want to use the original character of "Chun-Li" as the face claim of your own profile entry, which another member has been using for their own AFW wrestler. Image claims are NOT possible if the image is of an entirely original character, commissioned or created by the defunct member. For an image claim you will need to get permission from the previous member through direct messaging and a member of the current moderator team. If the previous member is no longer actively posting and RPing on AFW, and is not responding to direct messaging through any platform, than certain requirements will need to me bet before an image claim can be conducted.
• The inactive member will have have not signed into the site, posted to threads, and responded to messages for at least three months.
• A moderator will need to approve of the image claim.
The SECOND method is if you are not just adopting their image, but claiming the entire profile wholesale. The character's image, name, personality and thread history in it's totality on the site. This is a decidedly more significant method of character adoption and is taken under a far more scrutinizing deliberation. You will need to get permission from the previous member through direct messaging and a member of the current moderator team. You will be expected to rewrite the bio in your own words or at least reconstruct it in your own format. If the previous member is no longer actively posting and RPing on AFW, and is not responding to direct messaging through any platform, than certain requirements will need to me bet before a character claim can be conducted.
• The inactive member will have have not signed into the site, posted to threads, and responded to messages for at least six whole months.
• A moderator will need to approve of the character claim.
All decisions on whether the character can be adopted in either way will be taken on a case by case basis by mods. Depending on factors such as:
• Length of inactivity
• Likelihood of the inactive member returning
• How true to the canon the inactive member played the character
• Amount of use the character got in AFW
• Popularity of the character from where they originally came from
• Certainty that the new member will continue to use the character appropriately
You should also keep the following rules regarding character adoption in mind:
1. You can adopt no more than 3 characters from any one member ever, unless the inactive member allows otherwise.
2. There is a limit of no more than 2 characters to be adopted a month and no more than 5 in a year.
Legacy Characters
In the interest of respecting the dedication of certain members and extensive history of the site, we've decided to henceforth issue certain characters to be incapable of being adopted by the second method. These will be titled as Legacy Characters. However these characters are still susceptible to the rules regarding the first method involving mere face claims. Members leaving the site can submit these particular characters, whom they've grown particularly attached to and have contributed to the site's lifeline, into this category knowing their legacy will remain intact. The requirements for being considered a legacy character are as follows.
• The character in question must have attained one full title reign with at least two completed threads throughout that reign.
• A membership spanning at least four years.
• A limitation of only two legacy characters is allowed per member. Tag-Teams count as one submission.
