Sibyl Ragnild (D) VS. Sister Lucia

Standard match: standard rules apply.

Sibyl couldn't wait for her match tonight. It was a long time coming and she planned to make it count; her big debut on the rest of her life was about to begin. Sibyl took special care getting ready for the bout tonight she knew she was up against someone named Sister Lucia but Sibyl had never seen her name while watching Friction in the AFW so Sibyl did not know what to expect. She made sure her outfit was in order and sat very still in the locker room waiting for someone to let her know she could head to the arena, keeping herself calm. She had a mission tonight after all. She was going to put on a good show tonight to make sure she would leave a strong impression on the people who pick the matches and run the show. Sibyl sent her family a quick text message letting them know she was going to start her match soon and they wished her luck in return while warning her not to overdo it. With that, all of the pre match thoughts had been cleared and Sibyl was ready to compete with Sister Lucia, whoever she was. One of the stagehands came in to let Sibyl know it was her time to head to the ring. Sibyl stood waiting as her theme came on and she heard the crowd murmuring, no doubt wondering who the newbie was and what she would be like.

She was so excited to finally be free to do exactly what she wanted, to wrestle and fight with the best of the best in the AFW. Sibyl was ready for the thrill of the fight and the satisfaction of overpowering her opponent; its all she had been able to think about for a week now. She didn't want to waste time with theatrics tonight, she could build a better reputation with the audience another night; tonight was all about having fun fighting her opponent and showing off as she did it. As soon as her music hit its chorus Sibyl stepped out to a mixed reaction from the audience. She ignored it and went straight for the ring; she was ready to put her opponent through a tough match tonight and the people would be much more focused on that rather than her attitude anyway. Sibyl hopped through the middle ropes and into the ring before stretching while watching where her opponent was supposed to enter from.

"Lets keep this as fun as possible." Sibyl mumbled to herself as she thought through her first moves for the match.

While the audience was fairly eager to see what Sybil could bring to the table, their response when her opponent’s music hit was a little less…

”Boooooooooo!”

…respectful. Let’s go with that word.

Sister Lucia:

Sister Lucia came out through the curtain with a smile on her face and a Bible in her hand, taking a deep breath as the wave of hatred came over her. At her side stood the behemoth, Testament, towering over the masses with her iron stare. This response wasn’t at all unanticipated. Lucia had made her debut not too long ago, by demolishing a couple of wayward harlots in the middle of the ring, after which she was allowed to subject them to an impassioned sermon. Needless to say, the heathens in the crowd were less than receptive to her message, and the result was a massive drop in ratings and a rush towards the bathrooms.

But such things were not enough to dissuade Sister Lucia from the path she had set herself. If her word only reached a few of these lost souls, it would be enough. And speaking of which…

”Oh me, oh my, she is a tall one, isn’t she?” Lucia chirped as she gazed toward her newcomer opponent. She wasn’t quite as tall as Testament, but she was no short thing, either, well above her own head.

Testament herself didn’t seem all that impressed, and merely shrugged. ”Eh. Nothing I couldn't handle. But she’s your opponent, so…” She shrugged and looked down at her partner. ”What’s the deal? I’m running interference?”

Never one to mince words, Testament was. Lucia considered the proposal for a moment, tapping her chin, then shook her head. ”No need. David only needed the Lord’s help and a rock when he slew Goliath, correct? Surely, I can ask for no more.” She waved her off. ”Head to the back and wait. I can handle this alone.”

Testament seemed less than convinced, but she shrugged and spun about on her heel, stomping off back behind the curtains. ”Suit yourself. You know the signal if you change your mind.”

Without a hint of concern, Lucia promptly began skipping towards the ring, making her way in under the ropes. Eager to begin, she made her way over to her opponent, beaming with light every step of the way. ”Sybil, is it? A pleasure.” She gave a polite courtesy, then held out her Bible. ”Before we begin, might I take a moment to tell you about the Good Word?”

Sibyl was watching for her opponent's entrance as closely as she could, and after what felt like an eternity the other theme began to play. It sent a chill up Sibyl's spine; she was expecting someone quite intimidating and intense to go with music like this. Apparently so did the crowd; if Sibyl had thought her own reception was lukewarm, in comparison the audience had loved her. The arena erupted in boos and hate so quickly it was almost distracting. So when not one but two people stepped out towards the ring Sibyl briefly entertained the idea that she was fighting them both and was immediately worried. They even had outfits that matched, with both of them sporting crosses and religious imagery. "So they meant 'Sister' like Nun?" Sibyl muttered to herself looking them over more properly.

One of them was taller and even bigger than Sibyl with a badass aura to match the music, and that brought a smile to her face. She did not mind being the small one in a fight for once at all, it would be a good learning experience at least. She then looked over the smaller fighter, and Sibyl was surprised with how much the contrast showed when they were side by side. The smaller fighter seemed to be much more positive and energetic than her brooding partner, to the point where Sibyl was unsure of how she might fight. Then they finished chatting and only the shorter blonde in the nun outfit stepped forward and Sibyl locked in on her opponent for the night. She should have the blonde beat in raw strength, but with her size she would likely be faster than Sibyl so every hit was going to need to count tonight.

Sibyl was expecting pre-match trash talk or some kind of light greeting when Lucia walked into the ring, but she was surprised when the nun stuck to her "character", speaking very politely and even offering Sibyl...a Bible? After a moment of surprise settled, Sibyl responded with a small chuckle, "Nice to meet you Lucia, and thanks but no thanks. Never really needed that kinda reading, I'm much more excited about the match we are about to start!" Sibyl would gently push the Bible away so she could walk to a good spot in the middle of the ring to start a lock-up; she was more than ready to get started!

In hindsight, Lucia should have seen this coming. It was always difficult to bring the word to the unwilling. While her opponent for the night wasn’t dressed in some foul, disgraceful garb and seemed to be of a bright and mindful spirit, she also had the nerve to push away Lucia’s offered hands, bringing a shocked glare to the nun’s face. She was ready to fight already without any more preamble, making her offered words fall on deaf ears.

Lucia took a step back, pouting, and exchanged glances with the frazzled referee, who also sported a bewildered look. ”Hmph.” After taking a moment to turn an indignant chin up her way, Lucia handed the Bible off to the referee, who promptly placed it under the nearest turnbuckle for safekeeping. ”None so blind as those who will not see. Very well.” She held out her hand and closed her eyes. ”If you will not come to grace, I will bring grace to you. A moment, if you please.”

And with that, Sister Lucia promptly dropped to her knees at Sybil’s feet, folded her hands together, bowed her head, and began praying. Right there. In the middle of the ring.

Needless to say, this only made the crowd boo louder.

Sibyl had been watching enough wrestling from the AFW to understand that gimmicks play a big part in the show, but it was a different thing altogether to experience it happening in front of her. So when Sibyl handed the Bible back to her she had not expected to see the expression on the blondes face and apparently neither did the referee! Sibyl tilted her head in confusion as she handed the bible to the ref but the next thing Lucia did was even more confusing. She told Sibyl to wait as she...prayed? "Wait, what?" Sibyl said incredulously as her opponent dropped to her knees and offered up prayers. The crowd seemed just as confused as Sibyl but they were much more angry about it, increasing the sound of boos throughout the arena. Sibyl started wondering if this was why Lucia got booed so hard in the first place. Did she just like to waste match time with prayer?

Not sure how to proceed, Sibyl walks in a slow circle around the nun in the center of the ring feeling a bit of frustration as she waits for the prayer to stop. Her opponent was here but she still had to wait for her to finish her gimmick before she could finally get to fight? She would get closer to Lucia, and see if there was a way to taunt the blonde out of it, "Hey uh, is this the time for a prayer? It won't stop me from winning this match, you do know that right?" Sibyl was going to at least see if she could feed the crowd something to root for since she didn't really want to throw a punch or kick at the person kneeling in front of her. That seemed rude. Either way Sibyl would wait until either her taunt worked or Lucia finished the prayer on her own; she wanted to win sure, but she had nowhere near enough animosity to want to kick Lucia while she was 'down' after all.

So rude. There Lucia was, taking a moment to pay her respects, only to be berated in the middle of her prostration. She expected as much from the unclean masses, knowing they had yet to respect her beliefs and couldn't see the light until it was properly presented, but to receive this sort of banter from her opponent, too? An utter disgrace. Her time was sacred, a righteous ritual, and this woman was stepping all over it.

Shameful. Truly shameful.

But it would not deter Lucia from her duties. Even as the woman circled about and threw her taunts, even as the referee groaned, even as the audience hurled their epithets and insults her, she kept praying, eyes closed and whispering in her sacred communion. Until…

”Amen!” When Sybil was close enough, Lucia sprung into action and burst forth. She shot her arms out with her fists clenched together, looking to punch her opponent square in the middle of her face and catch her off guard. With the Lord’s blessing, of course.

Sibyl had been a bit impatient with her opponent but not enough to go for anything that people would consider a cheap shot. Sibyl had no intentions of losing the match, she just wanted to actually enjoy the fight as well; she wanted Lucia to give her best and then Sibyl could crush her anyway. So the Sibyl had circled the shorter girl, hoping to get her to stop praying so they could begin, hoping for a fun, fair fight.

Her opponent did not seem to have the same concern.

"Urgh!" Sibyl yelled out as fists came crashing into her face out of nowhere! Stumbling backwards, it took Sibyl a precious second to understand; As soon as Sibyl had got within a 2 step distance, Lucia had sprung up and slammed her in the face! Bringing up one hand to her nose and pinching it a little to alleviate the pain, Sibyl would bring the other hand up to guard while trying to step back so she could reset. "Is that how its gonna be?". Feeling irritated that she had let her guard down, Sibyl felt her thoughts going to which slams would be most appropriate to teach Lucia some manners. If this little girl wanted more of a knuckle-smashing street brawl for this match Sibyl was MORE than happy to oblige.

On the surface, it might have seemed like a sneaky move, using her prayer to mask an attack and lay out an unsuspecting opponent. Sybil could have attacked her when she was down, after all, and she repaid that hesitancy with a smack in the face, taking her unawares. But the way Lucia saw it, all was in fair game. After her prayer was finished, was she not within her rights to attack her opponent? It was hardly her fault if Sybil was so inattentive.

Regardless, the fight was on now, and Lucia sprung up to her feet in one quick motion, eager to close the gap and begin. It seemed she wasn’t the only one ready, either, as her opponent was already moving into her stance, taking up a defensive position. Good reflexes on this one, not easy to deal with. But Lucia would deal with it.

It would’ve been folly to lock up with such an imposing foe, but that hardly meant Lucia wasn’t without options. She was lighter, faster, more nimble than her opponent, and she looked to put those advantages to use right from the start. She closed the distance in a rush and lashed, coming at Sybil’s leg with a low kick, going right for the knee. She didn’t bring that leg down afterwards, either, and instead struck out with it again in the next instant, targeting her opponent’s chest with a swift followup.

As soon as Sibyl stepped back she made a singular decision: she was going to pay Lucia back for that cheap shot in spades. Everything past the ropes of the ring faded out as the old blood began pumping again; she was back in her house and she was gonna enjoy smashing Lucia into the ground. However, Lucia was no fool and recognized that her main advantage over Sibyl was speed; so she rushed in trying to capitalize on any moment she could. Sibyl grit her teeth, and drew back her fist with a wild look in her eyes; if Lucia wanted to stay close Sibyl would make sure she was on her toes for every moment of it. Sibyl swung a wild right, aiming to slam her fist into the rushing blonde's neck as hard as she could.

Then Lucia ducked.

Sibyl felt a sharp shot of pain to her right knee as Lucia ducked under her punch to hit a low kick! "Ow!" Sibyl complained as the kick connected and forced her to lurch forward, but she did not have a lot of time to complain about the situation before the same foot snapped up and connected with her chest. Sibyl gasped as the kick hit her chest, knocking some wind out of her and sent her backwards falling onto her butt; while one hand instinctively went try to sooth her chest. Lucia's hits were not overwhelmingly strong but she was aiming each and every shot for maximum effect! Sibyl groaned in annoyance at being knocked down by someone so much shorter than her, but she had to keep her cool. She would keep one arm protecting her face and the other protecting her breasts, and try to get back to her feet, though she suspected Lucia might not let that happen.

Lucia avoided that punch on the way in, but that wasn’t to say it had been easy. Sybil not only had strength as her ally, but that size afforded her quite a reach, making it difficult for her to get inside with courting disaster. In this case, the gamble had paid off, allowing her to get in close enough for her range to minimize the risk, letting her close the distance and keep her foe at bay. But how long would that work? If she made a mistake, would she be able to recover?

Niggling thoughts, and ones that Lucia had no time for.

Not when the advantage was firmly in her court. Not when her opponent was down and stunned. She had to say, even she wasn’t expecting to take such a commanding lead from the start, but that was the way the Lord worked, sometimes.

Seizing her opportunity, Lucia bolted away from her opponent as she began to rise, heading away from in a flash of movement. She bounced off the ropes as Sybil started to standing up, dashing towards her as she put one foot on the mat. That was when Lucia leaped in, stepped on her opponent’s upturned knee, and swung her leg towards her face, attempting to hit her with a variation on the Shining Wizard - a Glimmering Warlock.

It pained her to use a move with such an evil, blasphemous name, but if it worked…
