Dana Ashford vs. Blossom Fields - Generation Gap

Blossom was pacing around in the backstage area, practically wearing circles into the floor from all the times she’d gone over her own steps. She couldn’t help it, this was the logical way she reacted to being given something so big and momentous. A month ago, she’d petition the higher-ups to give her a bigger match, something that could help her start building her career back up after all the loses and her hiatus. She’d thought they’d forgotten about her in the interim, and she wasn’t going to complain about it, but then she came in one day for a Friction show and found that her name was on the roster for the night, and her opponent wasn’t just anybody.

Dana. Flipping. Ashford.

When Blossom first started training for professional wrestling out of high school, she spent a lot of time looking over old matches and taking notes, and Dana’s name was one that came up frequently. She was a premier powerhouse, the kind that any wrestler in that style should’ve emulated, and she’d taken a lot of cues from the larger woman - in particular, her suplex variations, which Blossom considered high art.

Sure, she was a bit on the meaner side, and given her own track record, that could be a bit of a worrying thing. But the woman was older now, had kids, had settled down, and that could go a ways to mellowing someone out. Even if it wasn’t this was a chance she couldn’t pass up - the sort of moment that could turn a career around.

So, when her music played and her call came, Blossom came bursting out of the back and made a beeline for the ring, barely taking the time to slap hands along the way, a rare exception for her. She slid into the ring, shuffled over to her corner and started stretching away, a big smile on her face the entire time. The sooner she got into position, the sooner they could get this going and the sooner she could have what had the potential to be one of the best matches of her life.

Dana Ashford was looking forward for her debut here in AFW. She had heard all the good things about this wrestling promotion, and she was planning to show everyone why she was considered a wrestling legend. She already had a long and storied career, having been wrestling for a few decades, and now, Dana was going to make her name here in AFW.

And so, she was slated to face someone named Blossom Fields. She had seen some of her matches before, and she was looking forward to see what she was capable of in this ring once they faced each other in the ring. Donning her signature leotard, Dana would wait for he cue to make her entrance, and once her entrance theme, Birth of a New Witch, was played, it was time for her to make her appearance.

Dana Ashford:

The crowd cheered for Dana despite her unscrupulousness, and it was probably because she was considered to be a veteran among the wrestlers here. Like many would say, by wrestling long enough, one was bound to get cheered no matter what they did. Dana, for her part, played up to the crowd, waving at them as she displayed her motherly smile as she made her way down the ramp.

And soon, Dana would climb up the apron, entering the ring once she arrived. Once she was in the ring, she straightened herself up, placing her hands on her hips as she looked at her opponent, Blossom Fields. Still keeping her smile on her face, she decided to speak to her for a bit as she approached her.

"Why, hello there," Dana said pleasantly. "Let's have a good match, shall we?" It felt like she might have mellowed out somewhat, but nobody could tell since the match hadn't begun yet.

Blossom had to restrain herself as Dana made her way down to the ring and the crowd got hyped, not wanting to let her inner fangirl get out and spoil everything. She had to focus, had to be on her A-Game. Dana was a strong woman with a clear height advantage, having nearly ten whole inches on her. She had ideas on ways to turn that against her - having a giant as a girlfriend came in handy for this sort of thing - but she wanted to be cautious all the same. Nothing less than her best would.

...but, dang, was this all so cool.

When Dana came into the ring and greeted her, Blossom came skipping over, hurriedly making her way to the center to meet the veteran and finding herself standing, literally, in the woman’s shadow. She took a deep breath, absorbing the moment in its entirety, really feeling her opponent’s presence. She’d seen the woman on tapes so much, seeing her in real life was kind of surreal. She was older now, by no small degree, but still radiated power from her solid form. Impressive, no way around it.

She extended her hand, looking for a friendly shake, and nodded up at Dana. ”Let’s! Really looking forward to this, give me your best!”

Dana chuckled as she looked at the excited young woman before her, and when Blossom extended her hand out for a handshake, the veteran accepted it and shook hands with her. "Of course, dear. Try to keep up with me, though." She winked at the young woman before her before she let go of her hand, stepping back to prepare herself for the match.

People seemed to think that Dana might indeed mellow out, and to a certain degree, she certainly was. Still, she hadn't shrugged off her edges despite her age, and the motherly smile on her face seemed to have belied a shrewd and cunning mind inside. She was here to win, and there would be nothing that would stop her.

Soon, the referee would tell both wrestlers to get ready, and Dana took her position before Blossom, smiling all the while. And once both of them were prepared, the referee called for the bell, starting the match. Dana would raise her hands, shimmying to the side a little before going forward, looking to engage Blossom in a standard collar-and-elbow lock-up.

Blossom eagerly shook Dana’s hand, then hopped back a few steps to create distance between them. ”Don’t you worry!” She gave the older woman a hardy thumbs up. ”I’m coming at you with everything I’ve got.”

Though, as Blossom bent over and placed her hands on her knees, she had to take a moment to consider what, exactly, that meant.

She was strong. Strength was her best area, her raw power was enough to overwhelm most of her opponents - but Dana could say the same thing, and she had the advantage of being taller. So she couldn’t approach this like her usual matches, hoping her size difference might make an opponent underestimate her. This woman could push her back.

But that wasn’t a deal breaker. Just meant she had to be careful. Very.

She moved in for the collar-and-elbow, engaging Dana with a wide base to stop her forward momentum - at least, for a little while. She put her back into it, giving the older woman a taste of the power she could muster, but she didn’t devote herself to the effort. Instead, she fought with the woman for a few seconds, before pushing up and swinging around behind her, trying to wrap her arms around Dana’s stomach and get her in a tight waistlock.

Now that the match had started, Dana went for a collar-and-elbow tie-up with Blossom, locking up with her to ascertain her strength. But it seemed that the younger woman had a plan in store as she immediately release the lock up and swing around behind her. Before Dana could turn around to track down where her opponent was, she found herself being put into a rear waist lock as Blossom wrapped her arms around her waist behind her.

Dana smiled despite her situation. Rather than immediately go for a strike, Dana decided to plant her feet on the mat to keep herself steady while widening her base. She would also move her hands towards her opponent's which were on her stomach. From there, she would attempt to pry them off of her before attempting to twist around, looking to face the direction of her opponent before catching her head into a side headlock, if she managed to pry her arms off of her.

It wasn’t the easiest thing to get a hold on Dana. While Bubbles would never call the woman fat or anything, she wasn’t exactly skinny, either, and that posed a problem for someone like her. She could get her arms all the way around the woman’s waist and lock on, but couldn’t quite exert the pressure she would’ve liked it. It was a tenuous situation.

So it was no surprise that Dana, veteran that she was, didn’t stay long in the hold. She only had it for a few moments before the woman was unclasping it, and not just that, but she managed to turn the tables on Blossom, catching her with a side headlock in short order. A tight one, too - she wasn’t getting out of it easy.

Blossom struggled in the hold for a few moments, before realizing the futility of brute forcing her way out. So, instead, she went for a more direct approach - planting her feet, she surged forward, and tried to ram Dana’s back into the nearest turnbuckle, hoping it would make her let go.

Successfully getting herself released from the rear waist lock, Dana then caught Blossom's head into the side headlock, and she would wrench at her head to keep her under pressure. She was planning her next move when the younger woman decided to push Dana backwards, and the veteran found herself being pushed towards the turnbuckle before she hit the corner with her back. She winced, and her hold around Blossom's head loosened.

Of course, Dana wasn't planning to let Blossom go just because she was at the corner. Rather than letting Blossom go right away, she would use her other hand to grab onto her opponent's body. Then, she would twist around, looking to push Blossom's body towards the turnbuckle, exchanging positions with her. She wanted to make sure to slam Blossom back first into the turnbuckle. If she was successful, Dana would plan her next move, which was to keep her opponent trapped there. She was planning to sandwich Blossom's body between her own and the turnbuckle, keeping her trapped at that spot.

Blossom bit her lip as she and Dana tussled, trying not to get too excited with all this and forget that she had a match to win. As she and Dana tussled, she could feel the raw power coursing through her body, that strength, that muscle, that physicality…

Fangasm moment. Turn it down.

She had more pressing things to worry about now, like the way her ‘idol’ was reversing her momentum and using it to push her into a corner. She suddenly found herself in the exact opposite position that she wanted to be, sandwiched against the ropes, pinned and unable to move. It wasn’t exactly painful, but it wasn’t a good way to take control of the match, either.

The referee started counting, but Blossom had the distinct impression that her opponent wasn’t going to wait that long. Hoping to be free before whatever happened next, she planted her feet hard and pushed forward, trying to shove her away and break free.

Dana managed to push Blossom towards the ropes, and the referee started counting for the rope break. Feeling that Blossom was pushing her, Dana decided to step back, stopping the push and allowing Blossom to regain her bearing. All the while, she maintained her motherly smile on her face.

"Come on," Dana beckoned Blossom to come to her as she would prepare herself for her opponent to make her move. Her eyes focused on the smaller woman's body as she waited for what she would do next. "Let's see what you're made of, honey..."
