Transitional Period (Open RP)

Somehow, Carmen imagined the transition from boxer to wrestler would be smoother. It wasn't turning out that way, at all.

She was 0 for 2, so far, and that didn't bother her so much - she didn't like it, true, but she hadn't expected to just walk right in and dominate the house. The AFW had some good talent, and she'd come to take it on; sooner or later she'd hit a wall. She accepted it. Didn't like it. But accepted. And they hadn't been bad fights - the first one had been particularly satisfying, as much as she hated to admit it; the whole hentai concept hadn't appealed to her when she started, but she was having second thoughts.

At any rate, she was dedicated to improving her craft and making a style that was a good fusion of both her old boxing skills and her new wrestling skills. The only problem was getting that fusion down - learning new rhythms, new abilities, switching between stances. She was convinced that, once she'd perfected it, she'd have a cohesive whole to boast, a usable fusion that would make her versatile and fit for any thing the AFW could throw at her. Just getting there in the first pace was the trick.

So, today, she hits the gym and hangs around the practice ring, full stop, working on her wrestling techniques. Rolls. Slides. Even using the turnbuckle. Just experimenting, training, adjusting - getting down to basics.

Teenwrestler (Steven) was on spring break from his university and was itching to get back in the AFW gym to work out and get back on track on his side-wrestling career. He was in the mens locker room, taking a quick pre-training regime shower. He then dug into his gym bag and took out his gym attire before wiping his body and hair dry with a dry towel "WOO! Nothing better to cool you off like a nice cold shower" he said before slipping into his gym attire. Putting on his UK flag wrestling boxers and black wrestling boots, lacing them up.

He thought he heard some noises coming from the gym but was more focused on doing his own stretches and warming ups back in the locker room before deciding to head out in the main gym hall. " Mmmm guess im not alone today" he thought to himself before heading out once he stretched off his body. He noticed a girl trying out a variety of basic maneuvers inside the ring, rolls,slide and pretty much all the basic stuff. Teenwrestler had guessed she was new here since she was pretty much doing the basics, although she looked pretty fit and tough. She looked deep in thought and focus and Steven was hesitant to start a conversation with her because she was so deeply in trance in her training but he did decide to atleast greet her "Ummmmm....Hi there! Those are some.....er- pretty impressive evasive maneuvers" he tried to compliment her as he moved towards ringside with a smile.

She'd never be much of a high flyer, but Domino had been right about what he suggested after her fight - she had good upper body strength, more than ever most men. She could learn some power moves, maybe, and things like the DDT and the Bulldog interested her - choking moves that could be chained into attacks. She could probably hash out a decent spear, too.

It took her a moment to realize she was even being talked to. She looked down to see another young wrestler, about Domino's age - lots of young talent, here.

"Hey." She gave a slight wave, then turned back, thinking...and turned to him again, not wanting to be a bitch. "Ah, thanks. Carmen. Who're you?"

Teenwrestler did notice the girl deep in thought as she continued to train inside the ring alone. His initial greeting was responded a bit later than he had expected since the girl was so busy in training, Teenwrestler was about to turn away and get on with his training regime almost feeling a bit embarrassed as he thought he was being ignored until he heard her voice, greeting him with a wave.

"Yeah um hi..." he felt a bit awkward as the girl turned away from him, after her greeting. He looked around in a rather *awkward* moment but she soon turned back and talked with him some more, " Er- my name is Steven! My ring alias is Teenwrestler! Its nice to meet you Carmen, thats some pretty intense training session there! you out to get some revenge with someone in a rematch?" he smiled as he got up on the ring apron, leaning against the ring ropes. "You look in great shape, hard to imagine youd lose to someone! "

"Yeah, I just..." She trailed off for a moment, thinking. "Teen...wrestler?"

It made sense for a name, she guessed, but it did seem awful, well...not bland, exactly, but rather obvious for a ringname. Though she didn't exactly have room to talk, what with not having one at all and everything.

"Before we go on, you gotta answer me a question, something I'm curious on." She sauntered over to the ropes and leaned over the top, looking down his way. "In one or two years, are you still going to go by that?"

Steven raised an eyebrow at how Carmen kept drifting off for a few moments, in her own thoughts. "you seem lost in thought, what's up? " he asked as he saw Carmen trailing off. He took some time to pass his fingers through the waistband of his boxers and *snaps* them back in place. He didn't even notice how Carmen had walked towards the ropes and was looking down on him, until he heard her voice.

"WHA-? Ermm well I..I... I guess not, I won't be a teen anymore so I'm guessing the answer is a no" he said looking down, scratching his head in slight embarassment. "But I'm sure I'll have another ring alias made up by then!" he said smiling as he looked up over at her.

Whatabout you? Fancy any ring name for your self? Oh mind if I join you? It's been a while since I got in the afw gym ring" he said as he began to climb up on the ring apron.

She gave a small smile back at him - he seemed like enough of a good kid, if a little bit wet behind the ears, verde. And, again, she was hardly in any position to really talk.

"Nah, no ring name for me - not just yet, anyway." She stepped back, giving him the space to come in. "Still trying to get the hang of the basics and move on - going from the boxing ring to this is turning into more of a challenge than I thought. Punches are still my bread and butter, but I want to get the hang of something more advanced than simple throws - get some variety to my style, taking people off guard. Mix and match."

Steven bent down at the waist as he entered the ring through the middle ropes. " Mhm, understandable! nothing wrong with using your real name as your wrestlers alias as well" he said before quickly lunging in towards the ropes, he bounced off the ring ropes and sprints inside the ring while loosening up his arms and neck. Before stopping in the middle.

" OOoooohhhhhh!!! that explains alot, with you doing all the basics stuff.So, your a boxer turned wrestler huh? thats pretty awesome! I bet you pack a mean punch" he smirked as he continued on " Mhm I see, yeah that could work. What do you think about submission moves? Im not a fan of aerial moves but I prefer submission and power moves.....Also, why the switch from boxing to wrestling? any specific reason" he asked her as he started to stretch his legs a bit, doing a few squats in the middle as well.

"Lot of reasons." She folded her arms over chest. "Change of pace, want to fight a wider variety of people, new styles for me to take on. Pay is good, and I always wanted to hang in Japan, big switch from Puerto Rico."

She held up fist and gave it a shake. "And yeah, I can pack a punch - though I'm more about putting it in the right place that doing any heavy damage. As for submissions..." She had given it a little thought, yeah - looked over a few. The trick was getting them into the right position with her style. "I'm more of a stand-up fighter - trying not to spend too much time on the floor, if I can. Wouldn't be against submissions, but I want to keep it high."

Steven listened with great interest when Carmen explained her reasons for the switch from boxing to wrestling, " Puerto Rico? Gee, your a long way from home huh? do you miss it? Well those are pretty solid reasons to make the switch, I can assure you, you will find loads of different types of opponents here at AFW so youve made the right choice. Although, I always thought the pay in boxing was much more than in wrestling, you know with the likes of Mr.Mayweather etc"

He listened to her type of wrestling strategy and he was intrigued by her style. "Thats some pretty hard-core stuff...although how do you plan to finish up/ win matches with your style?" he asked a bit puzzled " Like, I would try to get my opponent in as many submission moves as possible, targeting one body part, like a leg or her back and use submission moves accordingly and if my opponent is too stubborn perhaps a few DDT's or a powerbomb does the trick for the pin, know what I mean?" he asked, rather excitedly
