Past/History:
As a young girl growing up in the heart of the Seminole Nation in Florida, Mary was always drawn to wrestling. She loved the feeling of power and control it gave her, and she was amazed at the strength and agility of the wrestlers she watched on TV.
But wrestling was not a sport that was traditionally open to girls in her community. The Seminole people had a long history of male-dominated sports and activities, and many believed that wrestling was simply not a suitable pursuit for young girls.
Despite the opposition she faced, Mary refused to be deterred. She spent hours practicing her moves and techniques in secret, and eventually began to compete in local tournaments.
As she gained experience and confidence, Mary's talents began to attract the attention of coaches and scouts from around the country. She was invited to train with some of the top wrestlers in the sport, and quickly proved herself to be a natural talent.
Despite her success, Mary never forgot her roots. She remained deeply connected to her Seminole heritage, and often wore traditional Seminole dress and jewelry during her matches.
Through her time in the indies, Mary became a trailblazer for Seminole female wrestlers. She inspired countless other young girls in her community to take up the sport, and she helped to break down many of the traditional gender barriers that had long held them back.
Now, a new battleground presented itself overseas, called AFW, With a mighty war cry, Mary accepted. Seminoles were often called the “Unconquered People” and AFW was about to find out why.
Wrestling Attire: Native American inspired wrestling attire
Fun Facts:
1) In her early indy days, she had a red tailed hawk accompany her to the ring, it flew away and pecked a kid, so she had to stop
2) Probably obvious, but she’s a big fan of Florida State
3) As far as I know, Mary might be the first Native American in AFW history.
