Personality: Imagine a man dedicated to two things: wrestling and his country. A man who spent his life training and honing his body to iron perfection, testing every muscle, stretching every tendon, hardening every bone. Imagine who only thinks of his next match, his next opponent, who only lives for the fifteen minutes he spends in the ring. Imagine a man whose iron will is enough to subjugate any federation and claim any belt, who has crushed all challenges and challengers. An icon, a legend, a pillar of the sport of wrestling in all its glory.

This man exists, and his name is ZANGIEF.

While a fearsome foe, undoubtedly, ZANGIEF is quite personable to those who know him outside of the ring. Enthusiastic and energetic, he knows that his presence can be intimidating and leans into that, using it as a tactic to psych his opponents out. In normal, everyday life, he’s a simple man who enjoys wrestling above all things.

History:

Little is known about ZANGIEF’s origins, and none have been brave enough to ask him directly, fearing something dark and mysterious would be revealed. Some say he was raised by bears in the wilderness, others that he was the result of a Russian super soldier program, and others still that he is the long-lost love child of an American mayor.

He does not know where that last one came from.

However, certain facts of his life are beyond dispute. He came to the Russian wrestling scene at the age of 19, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, and took it by storm. With his overwhelming power, boisterous attitude, and unorthodox moveset, he went from  federation to federation, achieving glory wherever he went and attaining many titles. His exploits would eventually take him to other countries, where he would also dominate any foe he faced.

Now, at the age of 40, it said that ZANGIEF has reached his prime, and as such he sets his sights on the one country that he has yet to experience, competition that he wanted to meet with his very best: Japan. And in Japan, where could he hope to find a greater cast of talent than the AFW?

Traveling in secret, he made contact with AFW management, he was signed to a lucrative contract, one that had only a single caveat: He would have the right to pick his very first opponent for his debut match at Showdown.

+Is a master of the Cossack Dance.
+Though ZANGIEF does not confirm or deny many of the rumors surrounding him, he does proudly confirm that, yes, he has wrestled bears. He has a deep respect for wildlife, actually, and has been known to donate towards many anti-poaching organizations.
+ZANGIEF is immune to becoming dizzy. How he acquired this ability is unknown.
