Misgivings and Misconceptions

Dave flinched like he had been shot, and Jean's words were as effective as a bullet. Opening the door, he bent down to pick up the key. That's when he realized that He and Jean....that was finished now. Shutting his eyes he turned and went back inside, setting the key on the counter and sitting on the floor, alone with his pain, too overcome by anger and sadness to think straight.
