Strategy/Style: Nobody would have thought that high-flying and Keijo would be a good mix, but Mika makes it work well to her favour, creating a unique twist to the high-flyer style. Her unorthodox approach to high-flying takes advantage of her well-earned physique and preys on opponents by snowballing in intensity and humiliation. As such, Mika’s style in the ring mostly revolves around her impressive ability to manoeuvre and orient her body. Overwhelmingly quick, extraordinarily well balanced and acrobatic, she is always on the offensive, preferring to string together an aggressive and fast combo of beautifully (and humiliating) flashy moves rather than be on the defensive countering and reversing. Cartwheels and flips of all kinds are incorporated into her explosive offence that also helps with pleasing the crowd. Her ground game remains poor and can struggle to be kept overwhelmed there. Personality: Friendly, although very mischievous, Mika is mostly seen with a bubbly, larger than life personality. She can come off as somewhat annoying to those who have never met or seen her before, as she insists on making jokes, puns, sending witty jabs and teasing almost everyone she comes across or is matched with. Her character leans fairly far towards the extroverted side of the scale and can be considered overly confident in herself, if not a little arrogant at times. On the other hand, she is a very close and protective friend to those she decides she likes, her energetic personality coming across as very cute, the British accent helping her quite a lot. Though most would warn that her more geeky/weeb personality would come out all too quickly.

In the ring, she will rarely ignore a chance to show off. A crowd-pleaser through and through, she is insistent on pleasing the audience and making herself look good even if it makes her opponent look bad as her unique style can undoubtedly do.

Mika is quite an odd girl. Might sound harsh but it is true. Not so much that she is a colossal nerd but the way that she goes about it. Her parents might have something to do with it. Born in South West London to a popular Youtuber/Streamer of a father and a mother who works in making costumes for major Sci-Fi films, Mika Jamie Kingsely have been massively exposed to all things geeky. From Sci-Fi to fantasy, comics to Manga, Videogames to Roleplaying. You name it, and chances are she is definitely into it.

The money that her parents generated was enough to put her into a prestigious all-girls private school, wanting the best for their little girl in terms of education. While the rest of the school knows her as ‘the nerd’ Mika got into gymnastics and even running, mostly 100m and 200m. It was good to have other things to do, and she had become very good at it, competing for her school at a young age. She learnt from a young age on how to balance things in her life, growing her love of geek culture and also finding the drive to be better, agile, flexible, and faster than anyone else. It was that competitive drive that carried her throughout her younger years, and her peers struggled to keep up. Coupled with the geek part and she did turn most people away from her, only making a handful of friends.

Soon walking in her father’s footsteps, Mika began streaming by the time she was 15, her bubbly, friendly and passionate personality bringing many people to her. While her father was more of a fan of the Western side of things, Mika grew to be a fan of things coming from Japan and South Korea, getting into K and J Pop, Manga and Anime. One year later and she was more like a celebrity, appearing in many gaming meetups and conferences. Sure, the money was great, but for Mika, it was always and will be about the connection of her fans.

One of the things that Mika’s channel is known for is her series of getting into different challenges that her fans would send in the comments, and the most upvoted will be the one she does next. One of them being that she has to make a wrestling persona and face off in a wrestling match. Mika took the challenge, never one to back down from a challenge, and she came up with a persona quite quickly, mixing her love of Japanese culture into it, to create something that was…interesting.

Nobody would have thought the high-flying style of a luchador and the lewd style of Keijo would be a right mix, but surprisingly, Mika made it work. Having been already athletic, she was an instant standout, the fans immediately liking what they see as it combines fan service with an excitingly fresh style. Also was indeed funny to see her slamming her taut and firm butt onto someone with hilarious regularity. Seeing the great reception of her antics, Mika found her calling.

Mika Kaminashi was born. And with her ‘Butt of Light’ style, she sweeps the nation, seeking to destroy evil with the butt of justice!

Although she would still stream, the Brit spent more time getting into this wrestling stuff, being enamoured by the glitz and glamour of it all. Building her unique style, she hopped from promotion to promotion, and while the showing was indeed lovely, she realised that she was getting more eyes on her on other parts of the world instead of her home in the UK. Seeing it as a time to spread her wings and fly, Mika left her home country, performing in the US and Mexico. The years would help Mika hone her unorthodox style, picking a few golds here and there too. In the US, she could continue her streaming career, knowing there are a market and a dedicated fanbase. But with her love of wrestling, Mika hungered for more adventures, wanting to find the best federation where her persona could genuinely shine. One of her viewers pointed her to AFW, and Mika picked up on the promise of it and looked into it. It was the best stage that she could have ever wanted. And what better place to start her new adventure than Japan?

With Pride Cometh...

Alaina smiled and shift her weight as she appeared to be anxious. "I don't know, you underestimate those two I think. Who around here do you think is really that much better in the ring?" Alaina asked, genuinely curious to know what was going on in Cecilia's mind at this point. Of course Alaina knew that Cecilia saw herself as #1, she always had and always would. It was a given. However it was the other women Cecilia considered to be in her league that Alaina was curious about.

"...You're just a..." Cicilia didn't make it farther than that. Ouka had been getting desperate, the firm built collar around her neck cutting off valuable air. The German knew just how debilitating it was to not have the ability to breath... how scary the speed in which it drained your vast amounts of power. That's exactly what she intended to do to her rival... Use what weaknesses she herself had upon the woman who seemed to mirror her in nearly every fighting respect! If she had her strengths... She must've suffered from her weaknesses too! It would seem that way as Ouka began to thrash and claw at her captor's harms, Cicilia gritting her teeth in effort to keep her lock solid... It wasn't easy... but the collar stayed, continuing to sap her strength...

Hearing the boxer speak seemed to trigger a new strength in the red-head however, a desperate feral strength that would power her release! Ouka's hand flailed around wildly near Cicilia's face, grabbing at anything it could snatch! Hair, cheeks... It eventually managed to get it's fingers around her nose... Exactly what it was looking for. Clenching tight, instinct itself DEMANDED Cicilia free herself... and she had no choice to obey! She wasn't going to break her own nose just to choke Ouka out! That would be STUPID! Letting out a surprised snarl, Cicilia's hands instantly shooting up to her face to pry off Ouka's fingers...

But her opponent was faster in her escape! Sensing the lack of pressure around her wind-pipe, the first thing the "#1" wrestler did was FLEE, letting go of Cicilia and rolling away hastily, gasping for breath! The German did not pursue... Not readily. She was too busy gently massaging the pain out of her poor abused nostrils! She glared at Ouka quietly, her sanguine eyes ablaze as she slowly got to her feet once more...

Ouka Shumisen vs Cicilia De'Reighnhart

Cicilia had been looking forward to this. Ouka was a name well known throughout the AFW community and staff, one of the greats that had clawed her way to the top. She had been seeking bigger and bigger fish, the German, feeling her pride swell with the countless other women she had laid out in the squared circle AND the boxing ring. She would be a liar she she didn't admit she felt like she deserved this, a match of this caliber... And she didn't intend to waste it! The German watched from the other side as her opponent stepped out of into the ring, a small, eager smirk stretching across the boxer's lips. She could feel the fight already... the tension... the strength... It was with this crowd she felt that she belonged, among the stable, powerful, hard-working champions! Cicilia no longer felt like a Rookie, a newbie to the art of wrestling. She had been here long enough, fought enough, put down enough mad dogs to deliver upon herself a promotion and with it... all the rewards it would bring. It would truly be an honor to fight someone with such a vast and well-earned repertoire of experience... She only hoped that by the end of this, her opponent would feel the same.

Cicilia would step out when it was her time, raising a clenched fist to the sky as if to counter Ouka's declaration of being "number 1". As to what this counter meant... it was uncertain... perhaps just a mild jab at the gesture... Perhaps it was nothing at all. Whatever it was, her fans in the audience knew and they CHEERED for it all the same! She could hear it in the difference, how substantial the crowd Ouka had gathered around herself. Compared to her, the red-headed "#1" had at least double the audience with perhaps triple the enthusiasm! It was as if it were a reflection of her time here vs. Cicilia's, a far more seasoned and well loved specimen of the AFW.

This didn't deter the boxer in the least. No, in fact she was encouraged by it! Her smile widened slightly as she walked down the ramp, her fighter's heart pounding in her chest! As she climbed the rungs on the ladder of fame, she was finding more and more women capable of matching her strength, more people she could truly grind power against! Ouka was one such a woman judging by the matches the German had watched, those against her blue-clad rival and those against others. She was a powerhouse... aggressive... unrelenting... a perfect unstoppable force to match her own...

Cicilia slipped under the ropes without pause or pose, climbing back to her feet as she smiled at the wrestler.

"It's a pleasure to fight with you." Cicilia complimented, throwing her fist into her open palm! "I've been waiting for this."

Gaining Momentum - Simone Mackenzie Skyles vs. 'Bouncing' Betty Buchanan

With the introduction of Simone, the crowd was settling in for what they hoped would be a good, wholesome boxing match between two respectable opponents. While many of them were fans of Friction and Tension, there was a lot of disillusionment in the two brands, people who disliked all the infighting and factions and dirty tactics that came from the world of wrestling. This was a chance for something purer. Something untainted. Something traditional.

Bettie was looking forward to shattering those dreams.

Her theme music came up, a bouncing, jaunty tune, and the woman herself emerged a moment later, bouncing along with it to match her nickname. She was all smiles, had a wide grin on her face, letting the audience get an eyeful with every flap of her skirt and bounce of her breasts. She was in a good mood. Why wouldn’t she be? She was about to make history.

She’d joined Momentum a while ago, hoping it would be a good way to kickstart her career, but she’d underestimated how slow to get going the fledgling league would be. She needed competition. She needed to get her name into circulation. But they were having trouble just finding opponents for her, which meant that she’d been in a more or less limbo state for the past year. Underground fights, a little foxy boxing here and there with minor leagues, and she even had to do some private session work with a couple of horny old guys. Nothing that she would be putting on her resume any time soon.

But this? This was the big dance. A chance to become the #1 in Momentum, the biggest fish in the small pond. So she had much to be thankful for. Even more when she hopped into the ring and saw her opponent.

Cute thing. Pretty. Nice skin. Didn’t look too worldly at a glance, so there was some potential, here. She’d have to see what she was working with here, and that meant starting things off on the right foot.

Betty made her way across the ring, throwing a quick wink to the referee as she passed, and extended her tapped fist out with an open hand, looking for a shake. ”Simone, right?” She tilted her head to the side, just a nudge, getting a look at her from a different angle. ”Betty. Ready to dance with me, babe?”

Kozue was going to have a match with Bloody Fucking Shadow.

She couldn’t believe it when she heard it, she couldn’t believe it in the week that followed after she heard it, and now, as she got wrapped up and prepared to have a match against the woman herself, she still couldn’t believe it.

She was a bit of a fan of the elder ninja. Obviously. While she wouldn’t say that the woman had been the sole inspiration for trying out wrestling, she had been a big factor when it came to training and ironing out her moveset. She took ideas from the Bloody Shadow’s matches, mirrored her techniques, built her entire style around the woman. With no Benikage, there was no Ninjette.

So to have this match, now? Perfect. After getting trashed by Scarlet, Kozue was in desperate need of something to get back on the right track in Friction. She couldn’t have a second debut, but this was the next best thing: snatching the torch out of Benikage’s hand, establishing that she was Friction #1 Ninja. Once she had that done, she could get back on track and worry about settling a score with a certain pirate bitch.

Her music started and she came out to the cheering crowd, still on her side despite the disappointing start she’d had. High-faves, waves, winks abounded, but Kozue was a lot quicker about this time, far more than usual, wanting to get down to the ring as soon as possible and kick this off.

Bursting with energy, she dashed in under the ropes, popped to her feet, and started bouncing from foot to foot, staying nice and limber while her music faded. Benikage would be coming out at any moment, but before she did, there was a quick thing that Kozue wanted to get out of the way…

She made her way to the opposite end of the ring and called for the microphone, getting it from a confused announcer. With a flick of the switch, she went live and marched back across the ring, pointing to the curtain as she went.

”Hey, Beni!” Kozue called out, already getting some in the crowd riled up with her nickname. ”Before you come out, just wanted to welcome you the AFW...and apologize. ‘Cause, see, I didn’t set this little match up, and I’m thinking they should’ve put you up against someone more your speed. One of the older vets. Reiko, Candy Cane if she’s still around, Aisha, whoever. Me?” She tapped her chest. ”I’m about to make you look bad. You don’t put the old version up against the new and expect anything less. So, before we start, just wanted to throw that out there. No hard feelings, old-timer.”

She tossed the microphone out of the ring as the crowd went in a mixed uproar, with some of the glad that the new guard was taking their place, while others saw it as a slap in the face. Kozue, however, didn’t care much, either way. She just wanted to stoke Benikage’s fire a little, get the best fight out the woman. She’d been around the block enough to know how this thing worked. Nothing personal.

Shiver My Timbers

Saturday night at the Pig & Whistle, Kyoto’s best - and only, so far as Kozue knew - British pub. It was a fairly rowdy night, even by its normally high standards. The place wasn’t too big, but it had to have around thirty patrons tonight, maybe forty, all sauced up and ready to go. There was a baseball game on, a big one from the looks of it, and they’d all come in from the cold to watch it and get warmed up. Their feet drumming across the hardwood floors, the cheers at every homerun, the bartenders struggling to keep up with the mounting orders.

It was good energy. Just the sort of thing she needed, right now, as she sat at the bar and stared at the bottle of Bicardi.

Life in Tension had been sort of flat for Kozue in the past year or so. She’d had a good peek for a while, gaining a lot of steam when she kicked the champion - Reira Kirishima at the time and now Reira Kirishima once again, lucky bitch - but things had gone dry since then. Tension, she was learning, had its highs and lows. Things would get superhot for a while, then the fights would slow down, the competition would go cold, and the checks would start getting smaller.

Right now, it was in a definite low period, and she was feeling. When she got matches, they weren’t much of anything special, and her chances on getting another title shot were nil to zilch.

What to do, what to do, what to do.

Well, she was here now, so she might as well do one of the things that always got her smiling: drinks. Better yet, drinking with people. And with a crowd like this…

She took her bottle, and made her way over to a table near the far side of the room, a sway in her hips as she went. Per usual, she wore her booty shorts, and that might’ve gotten a stare at most other places. Here, she was regular enough that it wasn’t anything most of them hadn’t seen half a dozen times. They knew her. She knew them. They knew she liked to fuck with their heads. Which was why they weren’t too surprised with came next.

”Yo! Attention, ladies!” She pulled up a chair and planted one foot on it, while she tossed off her and jacket. Underneath, she wore a black shirt with green Mario mushroom and the words ‘Get A Life’ below it. Never afraid to broadcast her geekiness.

Every eye was on her, now. Time to get things started.

”For those who don’t know me, I am Kozue Kaburagi, of the New Jersey Kaburagis! #1 Tension Ninja, Queen Bitch of the Ring!” She got a hearty yell back from that, plenty of AFW fans around. ”This,” She held her bottle high. ”Is Bicardi 151. One of the strongest rums ever made. 35% proof. Hot damn. Fun fact: it’s the only drink in the world that comes with a stainless steel arrester. For your protection. This shit will burn you.”

She dropped the bottle on the table and cleared it off, as some helpful gentleman brought over shot glasses. ”Here’s the drill - tonight, I’m collecting someone’s manhood. One of you is gonna be stupid enough to come over here, put your money up and try to match me shot for shot, and I will go home with his balls and his bills in my pocket. So!” She clapped her hands and surveyed the area. ”Who is the lucky guy tonight? Huh?”

With a wry, impish grin, she started wringing her hand and looking about, anxious to see who’d take her up this weekend. She’d have a fucking headache in the morning, but it was never not worth it./

Seeking personal roster help/input.

I see a good deal of teams are played by one person(I think). What are people's thoughts about that?

It’s frankly just necessity. While the idea of doing a tag team with another person is nice, and some people have done it, the fact is that you’re basically relying on someone else far more than usual. People on this site can be fickle - not everyone, mind you, but plenty of us are prone to leave for one reason or another, and it’s not at all uncommon for people to just disappear for no explained reason. Making a tag team with someone else is a bit of a risk.

That being said, I applaud people who try it. It’s just not for everyone.

As for you other questions.

1. What character types/theme you feel are overplayed?

Eh, honestly? Pretty much everyone. And that’s not a knock on anyone in particular, but there are so many people on this site and so many different characters, it’s hard to really pick any specific style that’s not already been picked apart and done in some form or another a dozen times.

2. What type of character you wish more people would play?

If I had to pick a specific group, I’d say hardcore wrestlers. While there are a few out there, we do have a lack of dedicated hardcore wrestlers, and some people who have them don’t use them much - myself included. It’s gotten better in the recent year, but we could still use more.

Also, we could definitely use more guy wrestlers. Serious guy wrestlers.

3. What types of matches would you like to see more of?

Again, like with #1, it’s hard to pick a specific type.

4. What makes a character interesting to you?

Personality. I like characters with good, layered personalities, who react to things in unique ways. I also like characters that embrace the silliness of wrestling and aren’t too serious. Wrestling works best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously, I think.

5. What type of in and out of ring dynamic do you like with other characters?

I’m a big fan of the friendly rival dynamic. It’s lead to some of my favorite matches.
