Really, what were the odds of this?

Sure, it wasn't uncommon for wrestlers to dip their toes into other styles in order to help broaden their skillset, especially in the wake of MMA rising to prominence. Nor was it uncommon for wrestlers to start out with a history in another discipline, as Blair herself had done. It also wouldn't be the first time a wrestling promotion had decided to experiment by featuring other styles, and Momentum was a brand that existed for that very purpose But what truly took Blair Yuen by surprise was the knowledge that she wasn't even the only lightweight Asian Canadian Muay Thai user in AFW. With that background in mind, a match between her and Gabrielle Minato seemed inevitable, and the promoters saw it as the perfect opportunity to herald her debut. But AFW was getting more daring with this one - not only would two Muay Thai practitioners face off, it would be under kickboxing rules, with only strikes allowed. All things considered, Blair wasn't going to complain about that. Submissions were never her strong point, even after she'd started training in them to give her an edge in her MMA career. And perhaps a return to form would do her good.

As Blair's theme music came over the speakers, the Little Dragon of Muay Thai stepped out from behind the curtain, holding a fist in the air. As she slipped in under the bottom rope and came to rest in her corner, Blair took a long, deep breath, rolling her shoulders as she stared out at the entrance ramp. She hadn't had the best of luck in wrestling to date, no matter how hard she tried to prove that she did have a future after all. But this time, she would be competing in a familiar environment, against an opponent who made use of a style she understood in and out. Maybe this really was the chance she had been waiting for.
