Nagana vs Yori [Unleashed Match]

"We did... but after a while you got to stop running, even if you're scared. They'll be waiting for you anyway on the outside of that log...

To say that Yori was still standing was partially true as the fox stood ready to continue the fight to the end. Yori was a mess, obviously moving with a cracked rib or two and only really up through pure adrenaline clouding the pain and pushing her to stand to fight again. Even then, her vision was shaky and her stance loose, far looser than it should be as she stood, waiting for the two to come at each other once again. Her chest heaved heavy, grunting as the rubs strained again. Yet, Nagana never came to face her once again.

"You're... you're quitting?!" Yori was caught off guard as she stumbled forward, falling to one knee as she clutched her side. She was surprised that Nagana had decided to call it over, but then realized through all the pain and adrenaline that both of them were in terrible shape, "Don't dishonor me now Nagana. We didn't fight... soo hard just to end... it like this ya know?"

She raised her own hand, smiling weakly, [color=#ff0000]"I give up as well, I think a rib... no, two ribs are busted. I want a rematch one..." she says suddenly losing her balance somewhat and having to prop herself up on one arm.

Those yolk yellow eyes of Nagana’s stared at Yori with a sort of passive, cautious glare. Even though she was downed and had given up, that didn’t mean Yori had to just stop. She might have won, but an unleashed match was brutal! Fighters fought monsters and beasts, and the only real rule was that you couldn’t kill your opponent. Respecting a submission was encouraged and would be enforced, but the unspoken secret of the Head Warden was that if it increased ratings, then a brief after fight scuffle could continue for a few minutes more. Security couldn’t be there for a few more moments, which meant that if Yori wanted to, she could get a few more kicks or strikes in. Not that Nagana would let her if she wanted to tussle a bit more.

And for a minute, Nagana thought the Kitsune would do just that. There was anger and frustration in her voice, angry at the thought of Nagana simply quitting! It made Nagana’s lower body coil up a bit tighter, like she was getting ready to defend herself. Even with an arm down and the fear of further damage, a Naga was never truly defenseless. It was all down to how Yori wanted to handle this, and Nagana figured it could go either way. So it was a little surprising that Yori actually submitted as well, stating her injuries as the reason.

“Huh? The hell are you throwing an easy win out the window for?!”

The snake looked at the Kitsune with a sideways glance, the hot air slipping through her maw in a subtle hiss as Nagana seemed to be concerned with Yori’s mental stability. A bit humorous, given Nagana’s spotted reputation in the field. Things became a bit clearer when Yori lost her balance and took a nasty fall. Apparently, their last embrace cost her two ribs, making things a bit more understandable. It wasn't a pitiful gesture to give up, but necessary just like Nagana’s submission was.

“Gck! Well…you should have kept the win…it would have evened us up for when I take you down in the rematch~”

Eros sat inside the control room passively watching the fight from her monitor on her right while studying the viewership on the monitor to her left. The Head Warden of the facility was more interested in the latter, watching the viewership count rise and fall with each move or clash the snake and Kitsune had. It seemed that Yori’s sensuality and fiery technique was what captivated viewers most, but Nagana’s savagery couldn’t be discounted either. Eros wondered how best to encourage fighters to start to exude some of these traits and see if it would result in overall higher viewership numbers, or if it would make them decline. The SRW had been doing just fine so far, but it was keeping the numbers up that would be the challenge. Given the Overseer was personally invested in this project, Eros had no room for failure.

“Head Warden! Both fighters have requested to end the match due to substantial injury, but Nagana did submit first, but Yori expressed interest in a rematch. How should we proceed?”

The Bakeneko’s tail twitched curiously as she peered between both the fight and the viewership numbers. It seemed her staff couldn’t just make the decision themselves, needing the Warden’s ultimate decision over something that should probably have been a simple choice. Sometimes, she wondered if she was the only one who cared about the Overseer’s vision! Thankfully, her personal Warden’s that worked for her at least showed some initiative when it came to the Overseer’s goals. Eros would just have to focus on the general staff when she had the proper time.

“Since it’s due to serious injuries and Yori seems to want them on an even field, we’ll write it off as a No Contest match. Once they have recovered from their fight, we will market their rematch as the conclusion to this one. It might cause a bit of a stir, but the more people hear about it, the more curious they will be. People will view this match on the SRW view channel and might get hooked into watching the second part when it comes to be.”

None of her staff debated, just nodded and went to work announcing the results. Eros adjusted her cap, letting out a heavy sigh as her mind ran through a number of scenarios. Maybe these two would be considered friendly rivals? Truthfully that was for the audience to decide. For the moment, Yori and Nagana seemed to respect one another, and as Eros watched the medical staff carefully escort the two fighters out of the arena, she wondered about the stories they could tell in the SRW…
