Ichika Rei

Ichika is tough as nails, stubborn as a mule. She is a wrestler who knows not when to quit. Through grit and sweat, she rises to reach for the impossible. She'll stand when she can, throw her limbs to attack if given a chance. Unyielding zeal and perseverance like steel— that's her ace when it comes to a match. An indomitable foe despite such stature, she faces adversary with a smile. She's on the path for greatness, paved by the legends of her mother—  it's her task to carry it onward to even greater bounds.

Born as the progeny of a renowned wrestler, Ichika could come off as larger-than-life. The world lays its eyes on her, wanting to see what would become of the daughter of Asai Rei. Thus, she protects the image her mother cultivated as much as she could. Losses, humiliation, and belittlement—those don't sit well in her at all. She holds her career with much regard that she knows how to pick battles until the battles picked her.

Her ways with words are versatile—ready to reply appropriately to what was thrown at her. She's not so kind to forget to be clever. Nor so clever to forget to be kind. Outside the ring, Ichika is your everyday person. She's carefree, friendly, and sometimes teasing. She could blend well with the crowd; regarding the outside world as a haven, away from the duty in the ring and front of the camera.





Asai Rei was a name that reverberated in arenas, corners, streets, and alleys. It echoed long enough in discussions that it was hard to tell which were real or not. Tales gave way to stories, to rumors, and to outright speculations.  She was in the hall of fame. She sat on the very peak. Held with as much regard as any renowned wrestler despite her small frame. Overcoming hardships, she built "Rei" into what it is today—a prestigious namesake. A title bearing greatness. One that Ichika carries through her journey in AFW!! But first, we shall venture to how events unfurled to what is present.

Asai Rei's career ended when she got married. Bearing two children, her time with wrestling slowly fizzled until her forced retirement. Tying the knots with one of the most prominent samurai families, the Minamoto clan, didn't help either.  She was forbidden to wrestle, let alone train to keep her shape; soon enough, her role became that of a lady of the house, tasked with nothing but greeting visitors and taking care of the kids.

One of the said kids was Ichika. She fell in love with her mother's former career as soon as she could register words to understand Asai's stories. She watched video clips of all Asai's matches and read through magazines that featured Asai as she grew up. Ichika and Asai also sneaked around a lot for Asai to teach her, forming a tight bond. Asai knew she couldn't go back to her career by then due to her age and position. So she sought to make Ichika a better wrestler than she could ever be.

Then, fate struck when Ichika was 13. Her mother contracted a fatal disease, killing her in just under a year. Devastated, Ichika swore she'd get to the top just like her mother did. With Asai gone, Ichika saw no reason to stay in her father's residence anymore. She became independent at a young age, working to keep herself afloat on her own. There, Ichika honed herself away from the peering eyes of the conservatives in her family—gaining unmitigated freedom. She trained and fought whenever and wherever she could. She then toured the indies as soon as she reached the right age, quickly building a name for herself. Fast-tracked by her mother's legacy in the namesake she carried, her career snowballed to the point she received an invite to join Se7en Entertainment to step on AFW and reclaim what was rightfully Rei's!
