Two years. Two years of training just to stand in this spot.

Cassidy couldn't say for certain when or how or even why it happened, but kickboxing just bored her now. Training, PR meetings, all of the fake bravado. But above all, she was sick of winning all the time. It wasn't her fault that she was naturally gifted at what she did. She trained from a young age and never deviated from her craft. Now, she found herself at the peak with nowhere to go and nothing to satisfy her. AFW was her opportunity to change all of that. It took more time than she'd expected to figure things out; her style, her look, her body, how to make herself competition worthy against the best anywhere in the world. All of that unseen effort and all those nights wasted away in a ceaseless pursuit towards her ideal self. Finally. Today, she had her debut match on the main stage…

...in Tension.

On the train ride over to Kyoto, part of her couldn’t help but feel that she’d lucked her way into the runner-up circle. Tension just didn’t have the reputation or the clout that she needed out of the dominant name that came from the Tokyo scene. It just wasn’t the kind of excitement she was looking for. Her career entitled her to more than beating up horny guys for a living. But now that Cassidy was here standing behind the curtain, she could feel it all. The impatient roars of the audience were just beyond, she could smell the battles that were fought here, she could practically touch the tension that stained the air with an ominous weight that clung to the end of every hair. She bounced from one heel to the other with a flutter of her gym’s shorts. Her fingerless gloves creased in the palm of her hands. Cassidy just wanted to run out there on her powerful legs and leap over the top rope as she listened to that roaring crowd she’d been without for far, far too lo-

“Excuse me.”

The kickboxer stopped and turned around.

All Around You...:

The arena lights were dead. Not a sound, not a single note seemed to penetrate the darkness and the air of panic that suddenly hijacked the atmosphere of the room. And then, came a flash of bright red. It was horrible, like the thumping of a gigantic heart against the frail borders of reality. Another pulse came. Followed by another. Then another. Each one arrived sooner and faded faster than the last, quaking in its pace second by second and beat by beat. The violent distortion of crimson steadily built towards a near-deafening climax and silenced all at once.

The lights came on. There in the center stood three figures that, in the half-second lull, the audience had failed to immediately recognize. Then, after a collective breath mixed with composure and apprehension, details came into focus. The light green of their uniforms, the symbols upon their chest, the wicked smile adorning the face of the one that stood at its center. The Dire Pack stood triumphant in the middle of the ring, the prime target of an ample burst of rapacious cheers and an equally strong level of ridicule and jeering. Yuki stood at the Wolf Mother’s right, arms folded and lacking the slightest inkling of patience for this farce she was witnessing. Everyone here was an idiot. Fumika, at the other end, stood with an eerie contentedness about her. She smiled and waved, soaking in the mixed reception in stride. Honestly, she couldn’t even tell what they were all so riled up over. Maybe their appearance was just that much of a shock. Maybe Friction ladies were just that much of a sensation in Kyoto. Or maybe it had something to do with the half-dead brunette at Manami’s feet between the two.

The kickboxer was looking up at the stage lights through one eye struggling to stay open. Her face was bloodied with a busted lip. Her body was riddled with bruising and cuts all along the front of her arms with hasty defensive wounds. But what drew the eye first, however, was an injury to her left leg that was bent at an off-angle. It was as if it had been struck incredibly hard with a blunt object...or kicked at just the right point with just enough force.

Manami raised her leg high into the air where it hung for a dreadful moment as a guillotine that surely, swiftly, in an instant brought its righteous judgment down onto Cassidy’s pliable face with a crack and a thin mist of blood. The canvas was stained with the remnants of her detestable viscous essence. The Wolf Girl pressed her foot down harder, streaming thin lines of red from between every eyelash and orifice like rotten fruit. Her lips curled into a vicious smirk. “Good evening.”

“I must say, I can’t help but pick up on some confusion lingering around out there. Manami Kuroda, the Wolf? The new champion that's staked her claim over in Friction? The one that chased a certain...pitiable off-brand barbie doll off her makeshift pedestal and cleans out of town?” Manami just couldn't resist the chance to chuckle at that statement, as well as some of the jeers that came her way. She knew she would be watching. Somewhere, somehow, someday. “That would be mostly correct. Though I do recall making myself expressly clear on several occasions just how far the depths of this federation have to be purged of your indolent, idiotic excuses for ‘talent’. And quite frankly, this arena is the far greater offender of the three. At the very least, Friction attempts to maintain some guise of professionalism behind its flimsy ethics.”

Oh, they didn’t like that. Manami simply smirked and wagged a finger out towards them “Now, now. Don’t misunderstand me. All of you are equally guilty. Kyoto, Tokyo, even Yokohama. It’s all part of the same, insufferable whole. Thus, you can all consider this moment a decree of...imminent expansion into this scene of depravity run roughshod.” Fumika smile over her shoulder. Yuki simply took a glance back. It was important to capture moments like these in their minds, to call back to it again and again.

“All of Tension should take careful notice henceforth: the Dire Pack stalks your halls and there is nowhere to hide. Nowhere to tuck your shivering little bodies. Women, men, and everything less. It slays your weak, it watches your every move, and one day it will consume everything you hold dear.”

The Tension crowd already knew this was going to be a special night. That was obvious from the moment the lights went out and revealed none other than Manami Kuroda in the ring. She spoke, sure, laid out her purpose, but it was almost perfunctory. This woman had burned a trail through Friction, and her mere presence here spoke volumes. The Dire Pack was on notice, and that would be bad news for someone. Maybe the World Champion. Maybe the 24/7. Maybe the tag champs. Maybe even the hentai. Maybe, just maybe, any poor fool that crossed Manami’s path and drew attention. But somewhere, somebody, was in the process of having their last good day, and they didn’t even realize it.

But, as momentous as the moment was, it was about to become even more so, and that would be made obvious when a single word blasted out over the loudspeakers.

”THIEVES!”

The half of the crowd who hadn’t been on their feet before rose now, as the all too familiar music rang through the arena, accompanied by the sound of roaring motorcycles.

”THIEVES AND LIARS!
HYPOCRITES AND BASTARDS!”

The lights dimmed, save for a small spotlight at the top of the ramp, as one chopper appeared at the top. A larger one revved in besides, and a smaller, slimmer one took its place at the other side. Three motorcycles, three women, three familiar silhouettes that needed no introductions. Not in Tension.

The Valkyries had arrived, and business was about to pick up.

”IN LAUGHTER!
GET UP!

The trio hung at the top of the ramp, revving their engines, filling the arena with their noise and air pollution as they stared down at the ramp, their faces obscured by their helmets. Only a few seconds passed before Mako gave the signal and drove down the ramp - not at full speed, not even close, but faster than anyone could run and damn faster than anyone else would dare for such a short distance. Stone and Devine followed close behind, and the three of them proceeded to circle around the ring, leaving streaks in their wakes, sending the cameramen running, and creating a rising wreathe of fumes. They moved like sharks around their prey, passing once, twice, three times, before Mako brought them all to a stop right in front of the ramp.

The crowd, for once, seemed straight up jubilant to see them. Though they were nothing but troublemakers in Tension, had ruined more than a few lives and shortened careers, they were [i]Tension
’s bad girls, this was their brand, and that brought with it some loyalty, at least when invaders came knocking. If Mako gave a single shit about that, though, it wasn’t showing, and not just because she still had the helmet on. The Valkyries kept their gazes locked on the Dire Pack for every second, even as Mako made her way up the steps, Stone stepped over the top rope, and Devine slithered in under the bottom. The three of them took position at Mako’s side, mirroring the interlopers, only then did the helmets come off.

Stone’s face was as hard as her namesake. Focused forward, unmoving, brows furrowed. For whatever reason, there was real hate coming from her face, a smoldering gaze, as if she could start a fight at this moment with the slightest provocation.

Devine’s face couldn’t have been further from that. She looked at the Dire Pack with hungry, wild eyes, smacking her lips as she considered a dozen possibilities. Her eyes lingered on Fumika more than anyone, throwing a quick wave towards her as she took in all those curves.

But Mako’s face was something in between. Calm, smirking, not unlike Manami’s face, really. Helmet in one hand while the other rubbed her neck, she stepped forward and looked up at her counterpart, like they were just two old friends meeting in the park.

She held up finger and reached into her jacket to pull out a small microphone, one she may or may not have stolen off a stagehand who wasn’t being cooperative three minutes ago. Couldn’t confirm or deny that.

”Manami Kuroda. Arigato.” She spoke sweet as the audience died down, eager to hear where this was going. ”Good entrance, here. You come out, you lay waste to some idiot.” She threw a passing nod to Cassidy, or what was left of her ”You stake your claim, lay it all out. A+. I like it.” Mako gave them a slow clap, three whole ones, before she held up a finger and wagged it Manami’s way, a straight mimic of the one she’d used herself a few moments ago. ”I liked it better, though, when we did it. Four years ago. And that’s kind of a problem. A big fucking problem. And I think you knew that.”

Mako leaned forward and canted her head to the side, chewing on her lip with a single canine, her eyes never breaking away from Manami’s, not for even half a second. Barely a blink. ”I liked you guys in Friction, was just fine giving you space. But here you are, spreading out into my ring. My arena. My territory. Valkyrie territory. ” She took a single step forward into Manami’s personal space, close enough that she had to crane her neck all the way up for a proper look. ”What are we going to do about that, cousin?”

There it was. The gas in the air, the roar sound clanging metal and roaring engines. Manami felt her ear twitch and reached a finger behind to give it a scratch. It seemed as though she had picked up on something that everyone else in the room had failed to notice. That was how it always was. It was why she was standing here, at the center of the world, and why no one could raise a finger against her. It was roaring, and it was heading their way.

Right on time.

And then Yuki remembered that she fucking hated motorcycles. The wrinkles on her furrowed brow twitched as the incessant roar of their engines cried out all at once from the top of the ramp. And then it just got louder and louder and louder as they sped their way down on screeching tires, making their smoke trails as they rounded the ring again and again, around and around in the kind of showboating that was just so typical from someone wearing all leathers with a stupid skull on their head. It was giving her a damn headache.

The blonde wolf could only close her eyes and shake her head at the floor. Her light-hearted counterpart seemed taken by the sight in her typical way. Fumika’s cerulean eyes watching the curious sight with equal parts intrigue and fascination that may or may not have been entirely real. The sight didn’t seem to bother her in the slightest. Then again, Yuki wasn’t sure if anything ever bothered her.

Manami must have been the only person in the entire country that didn’t react to what they were seeing. Not a hair, not even a bat of an eyelash. That same confident veneer spread across her face remained the same from the moment the Valkyries rode in to the second they came to a coordinated stop in front of the ring. It was only when they began to slip their way inside like the detestable serpents they were that Manami promptly turned to face them with her Left and Right Hands.

Stone caught Yuki’s eyes first. Mostly because she was taking up the entire ring with that vengeful aura about her. The wolf felt her neck starting to crane back as with every step forward. Taller than expected, and more pissed off now than in any footage they scrounge together from what few matches Tension fights she was in. With folded arms and a roll of her eyes, Yuki let Stone know exactly what she thought. Fumika couldn’t have been farther apart from either of them. The Valkyries came in various shapes and sizes, but each with its distinct appeal. Especially Divine. Her eyes lingered on the sultry biker the most, returning the perceived interest with a slow wink in her direction. Something about slender bodies just naturally allured her. Shapley, supple, brittle…

Takeda-san.” Manami’s voice cut through the atmosphere, recentering on the balance of power shifting to and fro at the center of the ring. The Wolf Mother presented herself with a bow of her head. “Under normal circumstances, there would be only one option that would satisfy me. But unlike the rest of your ilk, I do have a...let’s call it modicum of respect for you, Makoto.”

“Amongst all of this inane struggle and pointless posturing, you at least seem to understand the fundamental truth at the center of it all: ‘might makes right’. You understand what you want, and you fight for it tooth and nail, until it is yours. Until nothing is left but the broken bodies of those who would call you ‘enemy’ and the ultimate rewards of decisive victory in your hands. In a place filled with weakness, you seek strength.”

Manami closed her eyes and let out a low sigh to one side, a hand at her hip. “But you’ve become rather content in this little hobble with your talentless marauders. Depressingly aimless and stagnant. And now a new pack has come forth to dash your little band into dust and bones.”

She took a step forward into the gang leader’s personal space, leering a dark maw down at Mako. “Turn back, and I’ll allow you to wreak as much havoc as you like...with my blessing.”

”With. Your. Blessing.”

Stone started to step forward when Manami moved in, but Mako kept her back with a quick, raised hand. Violence was coming out of this, no question, but not just yet. She wanted to hear this out, first. All of it.

So she stood. She waited. She listened. The whole time Manami was speaking, Makoto looked up at her with this aloof, slightly amused, slightly confused stare, as if she’d just found herself in front of a funhouse mirror. In a way, that was kind of what happened, and not just because Manami resembled a taller version of herself, haircut and all..

There were certainly a lot of things she saw of herself in the woman before her, a lot of things she liked. That honed body, built for wrecking everyone who came across her. Merciless in and out of the ring. She’d been to Friction enough to know the fear the Dire Pack instilled. Myths and legends surrounded them. Stories about bright, young fighters who’d been lured into dark rooms by them, never leaving the same way they entered - if they left at all. It was the sort of rep any gang strove for, the kind of fear and respect you craved. When the wolves came calling, you ran.

She could respect that. Love it. But there was one part of that package that bugged her.

”She’s doing the thing.” Makoto snickered and let a lazy eye roll towards Divine, then Stone, before she centered back on the Wolf Mother. ”Like I said, right? She’s doing the thing.”

Stone’s gaze was still locked on Yuki, unbreaking, even as the woman in front of her played it off. Makoto wasn’t sure exactly why she was on edge about all of this - it wasn’t exactly the first time they’d crossed paths with a rival gang. This was a new thing for their ring life, but they’d had to handle shit like this on the streets more than a few times, and she’d never been so intense. She huffed up as the woman before her rolled her eyes, scanning her over, as if trying to get a read on what her whole deal was.

Divine on the other hand, paid little attention, only giving a halfhearted nod Mako’s way, the barest acknowledgement. Her smile widened, just an inch, at Fumika’s wink, and her gaze ran down the length of the woman’s body, taking a particular interest in those legs. Wide. Powerful. Smooth. The things you could do with a body like that. The traps you could spring…

No one had even thrown a punch, and it already felt like they were at war. Perfect.

”Here’s your problem.” She brought her hands up and tightened her leather gloves, making a little show of it as she spoke. ”I get a lot of what you’re saying. Most of it. I’m all about running Tension ragged - it’s what I was doing before you and your cubs ever stepped between the ropes. But you wrap all that up in this...this…” She rolled her wrists around, trying to find the right word, before she settled with a decent one. ”...philosophical, metaphorical bullshit. And you top it off with demands.”

It was Mako’s turn to step in now, moving even deep into Manami’s personal space. So deep, in fact, that they touched here and there, that she could feel thighs bumping against her leather and make educated guesses on what the woman had for lunch. ”’Blessings’? I do what I want, when I want, to whoever the fuck I want, whenever the fuck I feel like it. I took Tension years ago. Could’ve took Friction, too, but no - I let you have it. Gave you my scraps. And now, here you are, greedy, sniffing at my doorstep.”

Mako brought up one hand, one index finger, and brought it against Manami’s chest for a push. Not a forceful one. Barely a touch. ”You wolves? You’re not in the forest, anymore. You’re in the city, my city. Here, you’ve got to wear your leash and your collar, the ones I give you, because if you don’t, you’re just stray dogs.”

She leaned in and pushed harder now, just enough to rock Manami back. The smile was still there, but the edge in her voice was getting sharper by the second. ”Stray dogs get put down.”

Manami stumbled back. Yuki took a step forward; a strong, solid stomp that made a momentary ripple between their soles. It was as sudden as a crack of thunder, yet focused like a bolt of lightning. She didn't care for Stone's reaction as she inched towards the center. It wasn't even an idle thought in the back of her mind. Her eyes were focused on the lead Valkyrie now, intent on showing some much-needed respect.

Manami raised a hand behind her, stopping her Right Claw with little more than a wave and a bemused smirk to their mutual petite adversary. It was amusing if she were speaking honestly. This is why her respect was so scarcely earned. You offer a pat on the head, their first instinct is to bite it off. She knew their leader would take the bait, and part of Manami felt that Makoto was aware of that fact too.

Even if she wasn't the self-proclaimed leader of this merry band, even if Fumika hadn't prepared that small lecture of the Makoto’s less-than-legal prior career, even if Manami hadn't spent the better half of an idle afternoon reviewing footage of the biker's bare-knuckle destruction to men and women twice her size, Manami would know right away that she was the strongest person here. Those eyes of a hunter - brilliant in the singular focus shimmering sharply in each brown pupil - stared back at the Wolf. It was fascinating in its odd little way. The ferocity that came from such a small body.

The pack leader chuckled to herself; a long and dry curse cast forth from putrid lungs and betwixt bloody fangs. She looked down towards the smaller woman with a dark leer from ear to ear. Fumika had finally taken the first look away from Divine since they’d arrived to share the view with Yuki. It was a sentiment they’d become all too familiar with. It wasn’t anything she could help. Makoto had made this too entertaining for her.

“Philosophical, you said? Metaphorical?” Manami waved an offhand and shook her head with that same, dismissive grin.

“There’s nothing abstract or metaphorical about any of this. I’m simply telling you how things are, Makoto, and how things will be. You did take Tension years ago. You could have taken Friction. You could have gained a title along with that prestige. You could have become a name actually worth remembering in ‘your’ city. But you didn't. No, if anything, you're elated right now to see us here. From the bottom of your heart. Because it means, even just for the moment, your names actually matter again. People get to remember who you are.”

Manami stepped forward, once again into her space. "You're welcome, Makoto. But that ends now. If we’re strays, then all three of you are chained mutts, fed from payday to measly payday until the day you pick up their helmets and leave town once your last few friends in the booking department realize the pennies you give them to maintain some frail semblance of relevance simply isn’t worth the bother...I digress. We both know where this is heading.”

The Wolf Girl learned back in. She forced their eyes to meet on the same level plane. Nose to nose, snout to snout. “Your city. Your stage. Your rules. Where, when, and how do you want to die?"

Mako didn’t turn her head to Yuki as she moved in, but she did look her way, her gaze moving to the brute of a woman, if only for an instant. She’d about expected that to happen, yeah. Fumika, the brickhouse on the other side, seemed far too chill to fall for bait like that. Yuki, though, looked like she could skip all this and throw blows right now, and she didn’t strike Mako as the type to be all that crazy about someone making moves on her boss.

She knew from experience, after all - Stone was close to that type, too, and it was why her own hand went up right after Manami’s, cutting off Stone as she moved in to intercept.

They weren’t at that level yet. Just nipping at each, biting at their heels. Nothing too serious. Not yet.

Manami wasn’t right, but Manami wasn’t wrong, either. It was true that things hadn’t always gone the way they’d wanted in Tension. They had their victories, highlights, but had taken some losses, too, and probably came out even in the end. The roster knew who they were and tried to steer clear, but there would always be that stigma, the knowledge that the Valkyries could be overcome. Not easily, no small task, but not outside the realm of possibility.

It could be a tough thing to shake. But she was working on it. And taking out the Dire Pack - the terrors of Friction, the ones who dropped the Doll, the nightmares that kept every Friction rookie up at night - was the sort of thing that would put them right over the top.

But it couldn’t be a regular, one-and-done three on three match. That would be a fun time, sure, but it was too quick, simple, and there was no guarantee everyone would get in on the action. No, Mako was thinking of something wilder. Crazier. Bigger.

The two of them were close, as close as they could be without straight up kissing, two rams butting heads. Mako pressed in hard, grinding their skulls together, hard enough to leave impressions on the skin. She could’ve stayed like this for a while, all night, but that wasn’t a viable option. Had to move sometime. So.

She shot her tongue out, whipping Manami on the lips, before she broke away and stepped back. She rolled her neck to the side and opened her arms wide. ”You got one thing right out of all that - I am happy to see you. Been waiting for this date for a long time, and I know just how to make it special.” She brought her fingers together and formed a frame as she laid it out. ”Tension Heights. Back in the day, way back when Tension was even more of a shitshow than it was now, they used to have fights in these dorms downtown. They scrapped it all a long time ago, but most of the buildings are still up, and there’s a special one I’ve got eyes on.”

Mako pointed to each of the Wolves, singling them out, one by one. ”Three floors. Three matches. Divine and Fumika go at each other on the bottom, Stone gives Yuki the beating I would’ve if you hadn’t stopped her on the second, and we get all the quality time we want on the top. Winner’s the one who doesn’t need a stretcher to leave each floor. Best two out of three takes it all, and it all happens at Showdown. Biggest stage in Kyoto, shortest wait.”

The crowd approved of her idea, if their cheers and dueling chants were anything to guess with, with speculation already running wild. Not that their approval mattered - all she needed was the go-ahead from the woman in front of her. Mako laced her fingers, stretched out, and gave them a hard crack, already feeling the tension build up. She wanted this for a while, but saying it all out loud made it real. ”And how do I want to die? Maybe you’ll find out, maybe you won’t. Maybe we’ll even go to hell together.”

Post by Berial Sun Mar 07, 2021 6:20 am

For all her talk of choosing the way she would decide to live her life, Makoto seemed much more eager than most to die right here and now.

That’s how it would be if Manami had her way. There was a time when she wouldn’t stand for this kind of indifference. But she knew better than that at this juncture. If she wanted to stake a claim over this arena, she would not be able to do so carelessly. Quickly. Sloppily. The right stage and the right moment was necessary to sway the indolent minds all around them and set the course moving forward both for the ever-expanding roster and the idiots in “management”.

Who was stronger, everyone would ask? The Dire Pack or the Valkyries?

Makoto offered the perfect answer to that question. As hot-blooded as her appearance, history, and general behavior in Tension over the past several years would suggest, she had a surprisingly adept acumen for the business of ruthless violence. Even Manami hadn’t been able to dig up where exactly Tension Heights had been leased and what the site’s plans were. Only a veteran of Makoto’s caliber could find such a fitting use for the locale; a match very much in line with her personal preferences. It felt like they were reading each other’s minds. The Wolf Girl felt her blood quicken. The day would be far off, but Makoto didn’t mind leaving behind a taste of what was to come in the most literal sense.

Her body flinched involuntarily, the boldness smacking her fresh across the face before Manami’s eyes narrowed and she ran a quick tongue over the length of her lips, capturing the essence. Remembering it.

Then the wolf did something eerie; an unbelievably rare phenomenon seldom witnessed across a single lifespan that even Yuki was forced to stop and bless their fearsome leader with a prompt double-take. Manami smiled. A genuine, bright, and cheery stretch of her lips to the corners of her rosy cheeks. It wouldn’t have looked amiss on a kawaii girl’s insufferably carefree countenance. She could light an entire room with her presence, and the camera crew made sure to get the best angle on this rare opportunity. It was beyond unsettling. As was the manner with which she approached the leader of the Valkyries. One, simple step forward as an arm reached out and patted the smaller woman’s shoulder once. Her eyes closed in serene compliance and nodded her head in agreement to Makoto and her unbreakable spirit.

And then she used that hand to yank her forward and smash her forehead into the biker’s stupid fucking face.

Yuki had learned well enough how to follow one’s example. Without a second of hesitation, she charged forward and leaped straight at Stone with a bull-rush shoulder charge to the chest to force some space and get the giant off balance in a hurry.

Fumika had a more relaxed approach, watching the madness unfold with a slightly bemused puff of her lips. She looked back to Divine and waved a beckoning hand in her direction.

Mako expected Manami to do something after that lick. She hadn’t done it for fun - not just for fun, anyway. She’d wanted a response. As down as she was with her whole idea, as much as she wanted to have their full fight on the grandest stage she could find, she was a greedy little bitch. The kind who’d steal a taste of the icing before the cake was finished baking. Couldn’t be helped.

She knew Manami. Knew her well enough that she wouldn’t let that go. Knew that something would be coming her way. There would be violence, and her blood was racing for it.

What she hadn’t anticipated was that smile. Sick and saccharine, it made Mako jerk back from sheer shock. It was the kind of smile she herself had used to throw opponents off every now and then, but she was tiny enough to pull off the facade. If a tiny little alien had popped out of the Wolf Mother’s head, that wouldn’t have caught her this off guard.

If it was meant to distract her long enough to let something get through, then hat’s off. It worked.

A headbutt, sharp and crisp, cracked Mako’s skull. Her helmet and microphone fell to the wayside as she stepped back, her world filling with stars for a hot second. She shook it off quick, going into fight mode, teeth flashing with a manic grin as her eyes settled on Manami. Her forehead felt a little wet. Did that break skin, was she bleeding? God, she hoped so.

”More.”

Makoto stepped back in, planted her foot hard, and leaped straight at Manami, getting high enough to put them on the same level and swinging out with both fists, throwing two hooks at both sides of her head in a furious burst of motion. Her gaze was locked on Manami and only her - the rest of the world didn’t need to exist for a little while.

The moment Manami and Mako’s heads collided was the same moment Stone stepped forward, going straight for the Wolf Mother on pure, protective instinct. A dumb move on her part, she knew. A reflex. By the time she corrected it, it was already too late - that instance was enough for Yuki to come in and bulldoze her from below. She was a small woman that Stone, but short by no means, and that body was packed tight with muscle, all of which the towering Valkyrie felt at once.

Driven back, hard, one stepped after the other, the size difference making it difficult to gain proper footing. She only managed to put a stop to the charge a couple of feet away from the ropes, slamming her foot down hard, hammering the breaks. It was enough to make a stalemate, leaving the two of them locked.

”That’s all, huh?” Stone’s growling voice came through her gritted teeth, before she changed tactics - instead of pushing forward, she swung around, trying to use her foe’s force against her, hurling Yuki hard into the nearest corner, and nearly hitting Divine in the process.

The former stripper was nothing if not light on her feet, though, and danced out of the way with a lazy pirouette, hair twirling about as she spun, giving them all the room they needed. So much violence, so much action. The crowd was loving it, and Divine wouldn’t blame them. Didn’t mean she had to engage, though - not when there were other, more interesting ways to go about things.

Her attention went to the only Wolf not currently biting at her prey. That lovely piece of thickness off to the side, smiling her way. ”Fumika Hua. A pleasure.” She said the name as if it was her favorite delicacy. Calm, unfazed, she strolled over with one hand in her pocket and the other at her side. ”I’ve wanted to see you in the flesh for a while, now. I can’t say I’m disappointed.”

She could still taste Mako on her lips. That was the most revolting part of this whole ordeal. The stares, the hostility, the insincerity, Manami could excuse all of that. It was little different from what Manami would have done if in Mako's position staring down the gaze of an apex.

The least Manami could do to repay that tender kindness between strangers was to let the biker taste some of her own blood. The wolf wasn't aiming for anywhere in particular. Between the eyes, straight on the forehead, smack on the lips; whatever hid away a sensitive cluster of nerves to eradicate would be plenty. It ended up being the nose. Terrific. The unmistakable snap of cartilage and sinew signaled the war cry for the long battle ahead. Chaos ensued all around them as fighters on both sides dove headlong into vicious combat and the crowd bayed for blood. Manami did not hear or see a speck of it. Mako was her only concern and all her attention, enthralled in the way she recoiled in pain and sucked it all in.

Mako leaped up and the next thing she realized the wolf’s bells were rung with a shock to her cranium. Manami felt the impact from her knuckles the next moment. Her hand came to one in a fatal bid to stop the ringing. Determined to not leave herself defenseless, she twisted on her back foot and swiped her foot like a glaive into Mako's side, hopefully costing her a few ribs for her ruthless advance.

Yuki didn't think she would suffer quite as badly on her end. Stone was a big fuck packed with more muscle fibers than any normal person had any right swinging around, but if that sort of thing intimated Yuki she would have bailed out of this game a long, long time ago. When her shoulder dug into this woman's sternum and felt her start to list, there was a refined focus lingering behind the animalistic intent in each razor-sharp pupil. Yuki didn't think she could get her down, but she at least wanted to try. To gauge what she was up against before the main event.

A fucking brick wall. That thought went through her mind right before Stone saw fit to smack it clean out of her by hurling her into the nearest corner hard enough to smack the back of her head into the turnbuckle. Gave her a headache, but Yuki shook it off. She’d taken some hard knocks here and there. Her platinum-headed adversary was going to be a tough nut, Yuki knew that from the start. But for some reason she was expecting a little bit more oomph from Stone. Maybe she still could.

“That was my line.” Yuki gripped the top ropes, using them to assist her leap into the air and keep her balanced as she kicked two feet aimed square in the center Stone’s chest.

While the two pairs of beasts walloped on one another, Fumika was content to take her time with the mild-mannered Latina across from her. She knew her name, for one. And evidently invested more research into her than the far graver reputation held by the Wolf Mother. The blue-eyed wolven woman couldn’t pretend that that singular interest wasn’t somewhat mutual. Makoto and Alicia were such rigid creatures made up of simple muscle and nerve. There was something much more alluring to her in a free spirit like Devine who’d managed to keep her humor and self-interests amongst it all. She met her with a simple smile.

"Were you now? Even though you know what I could do to you?"
Fumika brushed a lock of hair behind her ear and flexed her thigh, illustrating her point in the best way possible. "You must love your pleasantries when they are mixed with a hint of danger. I can certainly empathize."

Divine’s lips smacked before she even knew what they were doing, stirred by the simple sight of Fumika’s fulsome legs. She had seen them before, watched them on the AFW Network and caught the occasional pic from fans who’d gotten a good look at them at a safe distance. She’d heard horror stories, too, of women who seen those legs as a succulent treat, drawn in by the wolf’s pleasing charms, brought into some dark, remote room in the Friction arenas bowls, only to never come out again - not the same way they entered, anyway. Those thighs could change lives.

But that wasn’t the same as seeing them, as having that rippling power within reach. Dangerous, yes, but riding motorcycles was her hobby and crime was her enterprise. ”The danger just makes it more worthwhile. Life’s no fun without a little risk, sim?”

She often kept her Brazilian flavor in check, knowing how hard it come off to the Japanese ear, but now she let it loose and laid it on thick with her words to give herself some added flavor.  Hands in pockets, she slid past Fumika, brushing their legs together for a quick preview in passing, before she skipped around and  let her back come to a rest in the corner. A good place to give their partners room.

”And I don’t know what you could do to me - only suspect. Confirm it for me.” She brought her arms up and stretched like a lazy cat, getting all the kinks out of her body at once. ”What will you do to me when we have our little party, hm? Once those legs get around me, what comes next?”

They’d barely spoken, but already Divine was loving the moment. Mako, too.  Stone, however, couldn’t quite say the same. After hurling Yuki into the corner, she’d charged straight at her, thinking she had the smaller woman trapped. Maybe she did, too, but a cornered wolf was the most dangerous kind, and this one was no different. A kick to the chest stopped Stone in her tracks, and it didn’t just hit anywhere. It landed flush on the plate of bone right beneath the neck. The clavicle, if she remembered her anatomy classes right.

It wasn’t as bad as a blow to the neck, but it was far closer to that that she would’ve like, and it left her reeling as she clutched her battered bones. Gritting her teeth tight, she stumbled back and found herself leaning on the ropes for support, recouping quick.

A quick glance to the side saw that Mako was doing better, but not by much. It was a different kind of situation for her, almos reversed. She and Manami weren’t that far apart, pound for pound - in fact, if Mako could add on several inches or Manami lost the same, she’d bet their bodies would be as close to a one-to-one as you could ask for. But they weren’t. Height was still an obstacle. And while it was one that Mako was used to dealing with, it was never one she could ignore.

This was a prime example. When she was in the air like this, it didn’t take a whole lot to move her around, and Manami was able to generate some crazy power with her kicks. It was enough to rock Mako before she could touch down and throw another attack. It was enough to launch her to the side, flinging her into the ropes, and she came close, way too close, to slipping through the top and middle ones, the prelude to a nasty fall.

She snagged the top rope at the last second, enough to save her from the tumble, but she was still far from the best spot. She rose as fast as she could, got straight, and braced for whatever Manami was coming at her with next.
