- The Countess (Former Persona):
Type: Powerhouse Grappler
Strategy: Bowser is large and in charge. That is what she would have you believe anyway. She seeks to impose her size and strength advantage over her foes, working a hard hitting match out the gate. She likes to plan and scheme, devising an overly intricate plan to follow throughout the match to make each one a grand affair… Though she tends to either forget most of that half way in, or finds her ideas foiled prematurely often times leading to her making things up on the fly.
She commands respect, teaching anyone who things she is some half rate gimmick wrestler she has more than enough punch to put them down if underestimated. There is always time for bragging and taunting though, especially while dragging her opponents from post to post or ragdolling them around the ring.
Not a strong thinker, she takes most things at face value, often times confused when things don't line up in her mind. Something as simple as her opponent dodging a clothesline or flipping up out of a power move to land safely leaves her at a momentary loss for what to do before falling into the tried and true method of trying to hit them until they stop being so sneaky.
Preferred Matches: Anything.
Physical Stats:
- Endurance:
- With a sizable pool of drive and stamina, she is able to keep herself going for a long time, fighting past much of what could keep other wrestlers down.
- Strength:
- Capable of incredible feats of power, she can lift things well beyond the realm of most people her size and bully her way out of most holds or submission moves with pure brute force.
- Speed:
- While capable of moving faster, she requires slow buildup for momentum. As a means to preserve her ene gy, she tends to keep things moving slow and steady instead of trying to keep up with her faster opponents.
- Defense:
- Her solid form and strength are used to soak punishment. Attempts at assaulting her will often times lead to her taking a hit just to grapple her foes.
- Technique:
- What some may take as a lack of refinement is simply he leaning on what works. Going for large power moves, chaining them into sheer crushing force.
Wrestling Technique Stats:
- Striking:
- Massive clubbing strikes that can level most people. Her power makes every blow devastating, however her style and speed make most of her strikes telegraphed and leave her open.
- Submissions:
- She has no real training with submissions, but is willing and able to lock down her opponents using her weight or strength.
- Powerhouse:
- Taking her opponents off their feet and driving them into the canvas, over and over again. She puts all her force into each power move making her a threat every time a grapple locks in.
- Aerial:
- She will sometimes take to the top or middle ropes but the process is slow and clunky. She is by no means a practiced acrobat or high flyer, but will seek to use her weight against her opponents from dropping down on high. While a clumsy climber, she has remarkably impressing jumping for extra height even on the ground.
- Countering:
- Far too slow to counter most assaults, she relies on her bulk to absorb blows or her weight to keep herself from being lifted by weaker opponents.
Favored moves:
Eye Gouge
Toe Stomp
Big Boot
Discus Lariat
Canadian Backbreaker
Torture Bearhug
Powerbomb Variations
Package Piledriver
Gorilla Press Slam
Electric Chair Drop
Musclebuster
Sitout Spinebuster
Signature Moves:
Whirling Fortress:
Bowser spins at a rapid pace, arms outstretched in a wide reaching and while double lariat. She will run down fleeting opponents who prove to be evasive or charge headlong into multi-person match crowds to clear everyone's clock.
Blooper Blast:
Bowser is sometimes known for starting her matches off before the bell by spitting black ink like liquid into her opponents face to lay into them before the match starts. She finds it helpful for getting around the move being illegal.
Flamethrower:
Bowser sprays an alcoholic mist at her opponent, striking the metal spikes of her bracers together to ignite the cloud in a bright explosion of flame to blind and disorient her opponents.
Flying Slam:
Throwing out her arm, she grabs at her opponent to grasp them by the neck. In a quick motion, she jerks her opponent off their feet and drags them into a leaping corkscrew body drop, bringing her weight down on top of them. She will often times transition this into a pin or a ground based crushing/squeezing hold.
Monarch Missile:
While some people in authoritative positions like to stamp their mark on paperwork, Bowser instead prefers to leave her own with her boots. Lurching back, she will throw her weight forward leading with a shoulder to push past any offensive strike. Jumping up, she will shove her opponent back before thrusting her legs out in a powerful snap dropkick, capable of sending her foes flying. This can be used at range for a standard running dropkick as well.
Chain Chomp:
Bowser isn't above giving her opponents an up close and personal experience with her teeth, in fact biting is one of her go to moves when deadlocked with someone. It can be quick, discreet, and ultimately quite damaging. It happened so often she became slightly notorious for it in the indie scene. It finally got an official name after an announcer witnessed her break a pair of handcuffs with her chompers. It has stuck ever since.
Finishing moves:
Bowser Bomb:
Lumbering up to the top ropes, she will let out a roar, perhaps even a spray of flames if she hasn't exhausted her fuel source from her flamethrower move. After a few small bounces, she launches out across the ring, able to cover almost the entire length to bring herself down in a powerful butt stomp on top of her opponent to leave them breathless and at her mercy.
Bowser Revolution:
Bowser will hoist her opponent up into the air with a deadlift, or pop them up from a running state. From there, she with throw them up, turning to catch them on her shoulder to deliver a powerslam.
- Bowser Revolution:
Characteristics:
Personality:
It takes a lot of hard work to be a queen, even if your kingdom in question doesn't exist. She plays the role of a tyrant well, loud, outspoken, dastardly, while somehow managing to be incredibly charismatic. She is a bad girl who just loves being bad, not because it serves a higher purpose but because it's fun. Her love of stirring chaos has a almost cartoony feel to it, earning her a great deal of support from crowds simply for being entertaining. She is a performer audiences love to boo, not because they hate her, but because it's clear that is why she is here.
Much like her style in the ring, she is a bit blunt. Small detail escape her notice, social cues soar over her head, and she isn't exactly bright when made to put her mind to a complex tasks. She handles most difficult mental obstacles with brute force, something that has cost her a fair bit of money to replace shattered iPhones and computers... Technology is hard, shut up.
Outside the ring she is slightly more amiable. Loud, boisterous, and a bit of a braggart. She will generally look to make sure everyone knows she is the biggest, baddest woman in the room when it comes to strength. Drinking contests? Sure. Arm wrestling? You bet. If someone can get past all that however, she isn't so bad. Just expect her to lock in a headlock for a rough noogie or give a crushing hug from time to time. She sometimes forgets her own strength in the moment, but otherwise she can be a big dumb teddy bear.
Past/History:
Brooke always stood out in a crowd. A growth spurt in her youth left literally standing head and shoulders above most of the other girls in her grade. What turned heads more though, wasn’t how developed she may have been, but her personality. Loud, quirky, and oozing with confidence, it didn't matter where she was or what she was doing, she owned it. She was always doing something, be it physical activities both in and out of school or curled up somewhere with her nose buried in her Nintendo DS. She was always willing to jump headlong into new things, even if she was pretty slow on the pickup.
One thing however, remained a constant. A burning desire to make it big in the movies to become the next big action film star. She wanted to jump out of helicopters and beat the snot out of rooms full of goons. To see her her name up in lights, to be hounded for autographs and be part of scandalous actor drama. Granted, she never really considered all the negatives that came with it, which made the allure that much greater. There was one teeny tiny problem. She lived in rural nowheresville, Arizona. Her dreams were just a leap over the state line away, but the distance seemed insurmountable.
She wasn't deterred through. Unlike many who grow out of their childhood dreams, she stuck to this one. Proudly proclaiming what she was going to be to any who would listen. Her time spent at school was bogged down by a wealth of extracurricular. Theater, soccer, and most importantly basketball. She did just enough work to keep her grades up to squeak by so she could focus on building her options coming out of high school. While book smarts we're never her forte, she was a physical dynamo, which her growing resume of high school achievements could easily attest to.
Senior year she focused her college search strictly on California, carving the most obvious path towards her Hollywood goals. If she could just get herself there, perhaps she would be able to squeeze herself into the movie scene while juggling college. That was the idea anyhow. It worked, to a degree. She landed a full scholarship for her basketball performance, securing the first step in what she hoped would be a surefire plan.
Signing up for the bare minimum in the way of courses, she haphazardly navigated her way through college. Attending classes in the morning, auditions in the afternoon, and playing basketball in the evening. It was a grueling schedule that had her crashing and burning before her third semester. Her grades began to lapse, springing up more holes in her boat than she could possibly plug with her hectic schedule. Crossing into her second year, she found herself squarely in the sights of the school, in danger of losing her scholarship.
Rather than doing the sensible thing and buckling down to pick up her grades, she shirked her schooling entirely to go full steam into trying to land acting gigs. Time and time again she was turned away. They told her she had a good look, but wasn't what they were after for the role. Was it her line reading, her size, her weight? She didn't have any answers and soon she was out of time too. Unable to pay for college without her scholarship deal, she was forced to drop out. Brooke couldn't return home though, wouldn't be able to face everyone as a failure, so she dug down deep and planted roots in Los Angeles.
Things were tight, hemorrhaging what little money she had saved up on hiked up rent in crappy little apartment were her only roommates were the occasional mouse. A minimum wage job stocking shelves after hours and failed auditions mounting up. In an act of desperation she started to perform in the streets doing anything she could to draw a crowd. Feats of strength, physical challenges against any takers in arm wrestling, or even the odd bits of street magic... She actually got rather good with fire eating once she healed up after the initial test run. If it could put eyes on her, she did it, hustling harder than she ever had in her life.
In a little over a month, she had started to draw daily crowds, one face in particular stood out to her. A fairly nondescript man, possibly in his fifties with short cut salt and pepper hair. Shorter than her, but well built. While he never challenged her to a test of strength, he was normally always there to tip her when she put someone else down. One day, rather than a few dollars, he handed her a card and told her to "Consider it." before walking off.
The card had some printed instructions, a time, and and address. It was all pretty shady, especially given they had never spoke until now. She was suppose to go to this place and ask for someone named "Bullet". There was a moment of consideration for tossing it away, the guy could have been some weirdo trying to lure her someplace... But she was curious. Besides, if it was a job, one that actually paid, she couldn’t really afford to pass it up. A quick internet search of the address revealed it to be a arena and the time coincided, roughly, with some sort of event taking place. She decided to go, just to see what it was all about.
It had been easier than she expected to find "Bullet" when asking around. After presenting the card to some of the loitering crew smoking out back, she had been ushered inside to wait. To her surprise, the man she had seen before greeted her. His name William Moretti, though everyone around there called him by his stage name, “Bullet”. A veteran professional wrestler who was getting on in his years, separated from the super big leagues to tour the indie promotions. He enjoyed his work, that was plain to see, especially the freedom to play the role he wanted, how he wanted… something she envied greatly.
He needed someone to fill a role for him, or as he put it, "A pretty dame who looks tough". Apparently his normal female escort was under the weather and he liked her style from what he saw. All she had to do what look mean and flaunt a bit. Not exactly her idea of a glamourous acting job, but it was something... Plus he was paying cash. He even offered up a bonus for if he managed to win which came out to more in one night than she had made all week… if he won. She was given the run of the company's wardrobe and put together something for the show then it was time to make her debut.
The pair looked good together in terms of theming. Bullet looked like something out of a 1920s history special or a black and white movie. Grizzled but slickly well groomed in a fancy pinstripe suit. He carried himself like he was the biggest guy who ever stepped down the ramp, even if he was linking arms with a woman who, in the heels she had picked out, had more than a few inches on him. By the crowd reaction alone, you would never know he was just just some normal guy, it was pretty amazing.
No one seemed to pay her much attention past the odd oogle here or there, it was clear they were here to see this guy, which was fine by her. To them, she was just another extra, one of many women who had accompanied the mat mobster to the ring. Not one to suffer a role of mediocrity however, she didn’t stand idly by making doe eyes at the crowd and shaking her rear. She stalked the ringside area, confronting Bullet’s detractors and cheering with his fans, doing everything she could to rally the audience behind the horse she was backing. Anything she could do to catch an eye and put it on her patron, she did it, even stealing someone’s beer which went over surprisingly well. It was pretty exciting to be part of it all. She found herself getting into it, rooting for her temporary boss with the crowd as the match dragged on.
Before the match could end, Bullet was thrown into the referee, taking both men out cold. Unsatisfied with how the match was going, the other wrestler slipped to the outside and pulled a chair from beneath the ring. The illegal weapon caught her eye immediately, recognizing the danger facing Bullet… and her potential payday if this other guy was permitted to lay into him. She couldn’t have that, so when they entered the ring, she was rolling in behind thme to impose herself between the two. He didn’t seem amused, opting to shove his way past Brooke to finish of Bullet as intended.
A shout turning his head, glancing back to the sight of Brooke’s balled fist flying towards his face. The crowd let out a collective gasp, a brief but alarming silence sweeping over the arena. The other wrestler fell to the mat, chair clattering to the canvas. Cold cocked, knocked out with a single right hook. She stood confused over his body, a sense of dread washing over her. Had she just ruined the match? The crowd exploded into an uproarious cheer, hooting and whistling at her. Chants rang out for her and Bullet, who was now staggering to his feet. He waved her over to help the referee up, which she did, than he went for the cover. Just like that, it was over. A three count could have been a thirty count, the other guy was not getting up anytime soon. Bullet had won.
She thought that was it. She got paid, said her goodbyes to the slightly battered man, and started to make her way out. In the parking lot she was stopped by Bullet. He had been impressed and thankful by her intervention. So much so, he offered to take her on as an apprentice of sorts. She was hesitant at first. After all, she wasn’t here to wrestle, she came to LA to act. Looking at Bullet now, partially out of costume, just a normal guy again though… something clicked that the two things weren’t so different. In that moment during the match, nothing seemed normal, it all felt so grand, so important. She took the offer and began her new career.
Brooke originally debuted as “The Countess”, a continuation of who she had been at Bullet’s side. A tough as nails mob boss, ruthless, domineering, and aggressive. Reactions were mixed. While she pulled it off well enough, it didn’t seem to resonate the same way with crowds. It lacked the hammy feel of Bullet’s dated gimmick that made it fun and entertaining to watch. After only a year with the idea, she decided to change things up a bit more…
Tapping into a childhood love of the franchise and targeting the audience directly with something somewhat recognizable, she took on the persona of Bowser, the tyrannical king from the Super Mario Bros. games. While many seemed bewildered by her take on the character, it wasn’t long before she had employed her varied and expansive tricks of the trade to the gimmick to win over their hearts and minds. She formed a faction known as “The Sledge Sisters” and found success touring the indie circuit as a pure money draw for whatever promotion she landed in. Within a few years, she got the call from AFW.
Fun Facts:
Cheap-cheap: While fully capable of playing fair, where is the fun in that? Bowser take any chance they can get to lay into their opponent, regardless of if it is strictly legal within the context of the match or not.
Loyal Subject: Brooke has a small venus flytrap at her apartment she cares for she named Petey.
Up the Ante: She loves party games, but tends to take them a bit too far. She will up the stakes almost early or become far to competitive.
Kart Killer: She has been kicked out of and banned from several go kart racing tracks in theme parks due to excessive ramming.
Bull's Eye: While he retired from in ring action, Bullet now travels the world with Bowser as her behind the scene's manager and trainer. A well versed veteran of the sport, he is a well respected and loved former talent who brings an air of professional credibility to her act behind the scenes.
Hammer Time: "The Sledge Sisters" while not officially signed as AFW talent, still travel with Bowser, providing her with backup inside and outside the ring. Running interference, attacking opponents from behind, or lending their boss a weapon at the drop of the hat makes these ladies an ever present threat.
Tricks of the Trademark: When asked about how she is able to portray a Nintendo property without legal ramifications, Bowser simply said "My uncle works for Nintendo." then upturned a can of soda on the reporter's head. Nobody is sure if these claims are true or not.
