AV 14: Akashi Tanikaze Vs. Rebecca Tomko - Last Woman Standing

Akashi twitched by the three count and was stirring on top of Rebecca. The crowd was hushed, seeing only a hole in the ring while the referee stared into the abyss and continued to count.

By the time the referee reached six, an arm thrust out from underneath the ring and slapped against the hole in the canvas. The crowd erupted and Akashi could feel their reverberations as their feet jammed repeatedly against the floor and their clapping reached a deafening crescendo quickly.

The referee only paused for a few moments before resuming but that gave Akashi enough time to pull herself up and start crawling out of the hole. She was fueled by the energy of the crowd as the whole place screamed her name. Her heart raced and through the groggy haze of her blurry vision, Akashi got to her hands and knees.

Akashi bit her lip to focus the pain, drawing more blood that mixed with her completely red face. She stood up and raised her hand at the count of nine and the ref stood in awe of the big Sumo as she watched, making sure that she stabilized.

Akashi stumbled and looked like she might go crashing back down but she flung herself at the ropes and crashed against them, using them to stabilize herself before the referee finished her count. She watched Akashi again and held up her hands but before she called ten, Akashi pushed herself up off the ropes and once more threw her hands into the air.

The arena erupted once more as the referee stepped over to the hole in the canvas and looked down. Taking one moment, she stepped back, threw her hands in the air and made the final ten count to end the match.

Akashi staggered to a few feet and looked up at the arena lights. Her smiled was wide but her eyes were glassy and fixated on nothing. She didn't even know how she was standing but as the crowd cheered and sheered, she could feel tears begin to mix with the blood. She felt so light headed and dizzy that she collapsed back to the ground and buried her hand in her face. She was sobbing but still grinning. it had almost felt like she had just won the title all over again. She didn't know how she had won or if she would even wrestle again but she'd conquered and left the beast of a woman underneath the ring.

It finally felt over. and the biggest feeling in the world at that moment was relief. After she soaked in the raucous cheers, Akashi opened her eyes and took in what she could see of the crowd once more before she collapsed face first onto the canvas, falling motionless. Only her shallow breathing and the smile that still spread across her face gave her any signs of life.

As soon as the Sumo collapsed back down to the ground the ring was swarmed by medical personnel to take the two unconscious fighters away from the ring and straight to the nearest hospital. This wasn't the kind of thing that could be fixed with a short stay in the med-bay and a z-pack. Trying to get the smiling Akashi on a stretcher safely was a job itself, let alone extracting the amazon from the crater in the center of the ring. It looked as though it was going to need a crane to lift her out safely until the crowd gasped in shock.

The amazon's arm seemed to rise out of the ground like she was one of the undead, and the rest of the giantess' slow attempt to move out of her hole did nothing to stop the comparisons between her and a zombie, the vacant expression, the motion that was like her muscles had forgotten how to work properly, and the disturbing crimson mask. The crowd's fear only slightly subsiding when she too collapsed back down, almost once again being engulfed in the hole in the ring before EMT's rushed to support her and not let the effort she had spent to try and get out go to waste.

Her mind a haze of pain and darkness, Rebecca remained still as she was strapped to a gurney and wheeled out of the arena. The beast that had terrorized Akashi looked to have finally been slain even at the great cost the match had put on the sumo, now the amazon felt fear creep in around the black, wondering just what this match had cost her.
