Ace Card (One Shot)

Haley, or as AFW fans knew her, Silver Ace, sighed impatiently as she stood at the table in the dining room of her studio apartment, looking over various papers containing bios of several Friction stars.

She was a couple weeks removed from her hard fought match with Taylor Parker, a match that still had fans talking, both about Taylor's dominant victory, and about the incredible effort Ace had shown in the match, coming inches away from victory, making even Taylor's own manager think that Ace could have won.

Ace hadn't walked out of the match easily either, suffering several bruises, a sore leg, and a stinger on her neck that took most of the past couple weeks to fully heal. It had been a busy couple of weeks though, as Ace had refused to sit on her haunches, doing simple stretches at first and doing more as her recovery progressed.

The first thing she did was fire Tai as her manager. Partly because he had misrepresented himself when he got her to hire him, and mainly because facing off against Taylor, a girl who was at a far higher level then her, with a manager in her corner, and with the entire crowd on her side, and facing off with her by herself, felt exhilarating. She had fought by herself, no manager, and her family's money had nothing to do with it. She had earned her lumps in that match. The proof was the end of the match, where Taylor had shown Ace a gesture of respect, the silver haired girl having proven her worth.

The fact that her name was becoming well known because of that match was another treat. The last Friction event, which she missed, had several fans holding up signs with her name on it, not to mention the fan letters that Friction had received for her. Inspired by this, Haley had made a decision. Instead of allowing herself to settle for mid card opponents, or wasting her time on jobbers and kawaii, Ace was going to start at the top, challenging and testing her skills against as many of Frictions top talent as possible. Even if she lost, as long as she held her own, she could see just where she was in terms of skill, as well as build up her fame in AFW, leading to further opportunities.

Hence what she was doing now, going over the bio's of the best Friction had to offer. Picking up one bio in particular, she studied it, reading it over in full before smirking. This was it. This was the girl that she had to challenge, the top of her list. Fame, more fortune, and respect would all come after Ace fought this girl. Humming to herself, Haley changed her outfit to something a bit more attractive, tight shorts and a tank top, leaving her hair and eyes their natural blonde and blue colors and leaving her apartment, heading for her car. She was going to pay this girl a visit and get her to accept her challenge, even if she had to stack the deck to do so. Nothing was going to stop her.
