Anyone want a go at Tracer?

Sun Apr 23, 2017 3:52 pm by SleeperAgent94

OK everyone! Currently Tracer is in a feud with Widowmaker at the moment, and we are planning to have a blowoff match soon sometime in the next few weeks. This got me into thinking about where to take her next.

Unlike my more jobber centric wrestlers, Tracer is becoming one of those that I really want to push as my go-to Friction gal. As such I'm looking for any good heels (or hell, even serious faces) who wants to talk and see if something can be worked on Smile

Apologies to those I have threads with.

Sat Apr 22, 2017 5:11 pm by Iron Soldier

The last few of weeks have been difficult Irl, and left me with neither the time nor the mental energy to Roleplay.

That said, things appear to have eased up and I should be all caught up by tomorrow. Looking forward to continuing with my current RP partners and meeting new ones going forward.

Holy not dead moly.

Tue Apr 18, 2017 12:17 am by Fluffy Tail

Not sure how long it's been but it's fair to say I have not been back here in a long time.

To cut a long story short after a trip to the docs office I found out my life was in serious potential danger and I ended up disappearing for a long time. But after treatment was successful and I ended up not being dead I decided to come back. Big sorry if I left anybody dead in the water but my main focus was getting better. Hope there is not too many hard feelings as now that I am better I want to …

History, is it really needed?

Post by Cirno on Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:10 pm

Doesn't it feel.. Y'know... Silly for AFW? This was that before becoming a lesbian wrestler.

Just saying, when is history actually being looked that?

I think history can be used to form a storyline, for example, if there's like two characters that had previously met in the past before they go into AFW.

Personally, I care for character's personality more than history in a bio.

But then you'd read that history through the RP thread, not the character profile itself, people tend to skip large history text and would find important stuff of it later through interactions of characters.

So personally.. I don't think History is worth writing in the bio.

Well, not every part of a character's past can be revealed in an RP, or it could take a while until a certain part get revealed. Also, while someone might be interested in a certain character, they might not necessarily check all threads that involve the characters (threads that had been completed for months or years, for example).

There's no harm in writing a short back story of some sort, I guess, but writing long paragraphs on it isn't really worth it.

As someone who sucks at writing profiles, yeah, I hate writing the history. I never have any idea what to put, and while most of it is unimportant bullshite anyway, it can be used to explain whatever certain quirks or attitudes characters may have.

Like Kitten said, at the very least put some effort into explaining how your characters got into AFW. It's just so annoying to see "She heard of AFW and joined because it seemed fun!"

Last I checked, most wrestling companies, and most companies in general, didn't just let you sign yourself up of your own accord.

I think, if anything, a good backstory is good for defining the personality of your character. Knowing where they came from, how they grew up and what they want out of life can be a big help in deciding just how a character should act in certain situations. So yes, I personally think a character's history is just as important as everything else in their profile.

Also, if you are planning an in depth RP with several other characters, it's good to have a history. Characters with a similar upbringing, at least in my opinion, would have better chemistry. I guess if you really aren't trying to do much more with the character than just have her get in the ring and toss around another girl, then sure, having a background is pretty pointless. But giving the character something to base their personality on is needed to really have a character that people can find interesting.

Firstly, Fukuyama was a fucking idiot.

Obviously it depends how deep you like to roleplay, but where someone comes from determines where they're going, to a massive extent. I can't imagine NOT writing at least a couple of history lines.

Seeing as it's something people sometimes struggle with, I genuinely wonder if we should have some kind of collaborative character workshop thread - post a pic you like and get the forum to piece together a bio. The AFW version of a random character generator.

Last I checked, most wrestling companies, and most companies in general, didn't just let you sign yourself up of your own accord.

Wrestling companies seem to like to recruit failed athletes who are big enough to pretend to fight but failed in the thing they really wanted to do. I bet Vinnie Mac would hire an impressive looking bodybuilder or strongman with zero wrestling experience on the spot if he came to the training facility and flexed for him, but that`s another story.^^

I like to have a little backstory to generate interest in the character, but that seldom pays dividends or lieads to storylines and sometimes even hinders me when I think of what the person would do when I think about her background.
