History:
Egawa Riku is not a wrestler. Though she has dabbled in the sport as a rank amateur for a number of years, Riku's heart belongs to a different sport altogether: the pole vault.

Riku has trained for the pole vault since elementary school, when a gym teacher with a keen eye for latent athletic ability picked her out of a class of thirty students and personally requested that she join the school's track and field team. She immediately stood out from the pack in a number of events, and, throughout elementary and middle school, she would be something of an all-around star, before, after many thoughtful discussions and hours of careful deliberation, she decided to drop all but one event, and focus on the pole vault, which she considered her true calling.

Despite her relatively short stature for a pole vaulter, Riku excelled at the sport at a high level. Her first year of high school, Riku would earn a third-place finish in the pole vault at the national track and field championships. This was an incredible result for someone in her first national-level competition, but Riku would not settle for good enough; she would return her sophomore year and claim the national title, with a jump of 4.11 meters. Still, it was not enough, and she would defend the title her third and fourth years, setting a personal best her senior year with a jump of 4.25 meters. By the time she graduated from high school, she was considered by many the greatest female pole vaulter in all of Japan.

Unfortunately, shortly after graduation, Riku was informed by her doctor that the stress put on her small body by pole vaulting was beginning to cause irreparable damage. During her final two years of high school, she had suffered one stress fracture and several sprains, but bravely soldiered through the pain and continued to compete. If these injuries continued, however, it would not be long before Riku was looking at the very real possibility of a catastrophic, career-ending—possibly life-threatening—injury. The doctor suggested that she retire from pole vaulting—at least for a while. Reluctantly, with urging from her parents, Riku agreed.

After retiring from track and field, Riku felt listless, bored, and constantly ill at ease. She was truly a consummate athlete, and now found herself with endless tracts of free time that she had simply never had before. She needed something to fill the void, and, after a week or two of thought, she settled upon submission wrestling as the answer. She began training at a local gym, and learned a couple of flashier, professional-style moves from her younger brother, a big fan of joshi puroresu. She soon began to excel in her new sport, defeating similarly-sized opponents with ease and holding her own against some larger girls. One of the opponents who she defeated suggested that she make a living wrestling, and recommended she try to find a league online. Riku would do just that, and the very first website she clicked on was that of AFW.

Personality:
Riku has never had much free time, and she likes it that way. She has never had many friends, either—not because she is mean, or abrasive, but simply because she has never tried too hard to form connections with other people. She is very diligent, and very motivated, and has a fierce drive to succeed when she sets her sights on something. This can make her seem rather cold, and rather distant, even if she does not intend to be rude. Those who manage to do the difficult job of breaking through her shell will find her to be a warm, friendly, even playful person.

Favored Moves:
Riku favors submission wrestling moves during her fights. Of such moves, her favorite is the headscissors, which she can use to deadly effect. If she is looking for something a little flashier, she will try dropkicking her opponent, or, if it is time to finish them off, she will attempt to knock them out cold with a piledriver.
