Suggestions on buying a Fighting Game Empty Suggestions on buying a Fighting Game

Post by Lobo Tue May 21, 2013 2:30 am

So after completing Bioshock Infinite. I obtained the desire to own a fighting game.

I used to be an Arcade Rat but my arcade has closed after 20+ years so now its back to consoles full time.

Im so picky with my fighters tho. That's why i either rent, borrow or play at arcades (Well that and its a better experience). The last Fighter i payed full price for was Soul Calibur 4 and the create a char mode held me over for YEARS.

My Top 2 picks currently are...

Mortal Kombat 2011 & Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition.

I've played both but never owned either and im thinking about a purchase. Havent tried DOA 5 or Tekken Tag 2 yet.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is not an option.

I'd discard SSF4 NOW. If I were you, I'd wait for DOA5 Ultimate. DOA5's been quite more enjoyable than Teken Tag 2 (hell of a lot of characters) for me. MK 2011 is nice, for a second option.

If you want DoA5, wait until the Ultimate edition releases.

TTT2 is crap, don't waste your money.

Mortal Kombat '11 is bloody awesome. If I can add a recommendation though, I'd HIGHLY recommend Injustice: Gods Among Us. It's a hell of a lot of fun. Plus, it has Lobo DLC! :V

SF4: AE is a great choice too.

I've also considered buying the Blazblue games.

I used to play them in the arcades but never owned them.

NEWS FLASH: the Archergurl who you speaking of is not part of AFW anymore and she's currently working in production for new game titles in Japan. I'm her Canadian friend who she gave her PC due to mines has crashed. She was nice enough to give it to me to help a friend in need. So she got a spared one that she uses for the things I've mention above. BTW, Anegge and Alexandra be sure to check the E-mail adresses carefully. As Archergurl and me aren't the same thing.

Sorry to hear TTT2 is crap considering how much I enjoyed the first installment <img src=" title="Sad" />

I just picked up SC IV used recently because it's been a while since I played the SC series

As for Injustice, it honestly looks awesome! Is it worth it as a graduation present to myself?

Also sorry for not contributing anything worthwhile to this topic <img src=" title="Razz" />

Out of curiosity, what was it about Tekken Tag 2 that turned you off?

To Lobo, Blazblue isn't bad. Hyped for 3 personally. If you like Arcsys' style of fighters, I'd say give Persona 4 arena a shot too; though rent, if you can, first. That one hasn't been for everyone. I personally couldn't get into DOA5, but hey. If you liked any of the ones prior to 5, go for it when ultimate comes out.

I would suggest injustice. I played the demo and found it to be quite good, it captures what superpowered fights should feel like.
What with hitting your foe into outer space and then hitting them back down to Earth, as well as hitting them with rockets and cars.
But from what I know the story hits a few sour notes but it's not the worst story I've heard.

Blazblue is also quite good, I've got CS extend and enjoyed the different endings in the story. *Shudders at Makoto's bad ending, Damm you Relius.*

I'm also a big fan of soul calibur, played all but soul edge on the ps1. The main thing I like about it is how each fighter is different. They have thier own unique looks, weapons and fighting styles.

As for DOA I loved the 3rd one, played the 4th demo as well. Think it gets a tad cartoonish in some of the stages though. <img src=" title="Smile" />
