Blast from the past 5: Sumatra Rain

Anja watched casually in the large ballroom that was the cultural center of the MSS Sappho, a large vessel under the flag of Loclear Shipping, having a mint green cocktail in her hand while sitting on one of the bar stools.

She had picked up a good deal with a woman of the high society to be her date for an extensive cruising voyage. The big ship was standing out from all the freighters and small vessels as it would have been a titan among giants even in one of the giant harbors of the island Sumatra. Even the many lights looked like the gala uniform of a highly decorated individual.

The lady that had rented her had caught a cold and had given her the evening of, and even better, there was a mask dance going on in the bowels of the ships today. To not be easily recognizable for any old pursuers, she had taken some measures to blend in with people in general.
Her hair was black and arranged in a long tail instead of her usual Lions mane. Additionally, she had put in green lenses and was wearing a silver raven shaped necklace instead of nothing as usual, occasionally scratching her neck and throat cause it was new and cold to wear.
Her dress was of the darkest of blacks to give a sharp contrast to her pale skin and was a looker with a deep cleavage, a button in the neck to keep it in place and her back open to the deepest way possible while staying acceptable for a high society festival. Her shoes were of the high heel kind and gave a clinking sound on the wooden parquet whenever she walked.
Unconsciously, she had more of a resemblance to her former self than she would have liked with her Raven mask. It was a model that was very similar to the old design she used while standing silently in the shadows behind her old mistress like any other asset a woman could carry. Strange enough, it gave her some confidence as a focal point in dealing with this kind of persons.

She could blend into such events with relative ease, but felt a little uncomfortable with it most of the time cause of her past. But still, after boring corporate meetings, some walk over to show which business was more noble than the other and many other really corporate asset events, she just wanted to be within a group of people without having a function at all.
