Jean Grey vs Reika Hasegawa

Reika Hasegawa brushed her blonde hair from her face as she entered the ring, not bothering to spare any glances to the fans thronging either side of the walkway. She didn't need to-- she knew exactly how they felt about her, and wasn't going to bother giving them what they wouldn't give her. As she had expected, the moment she entered the ring, she heard a few boos from the crowd: a lot of people in the crowd remembered how she and her sisters had almost completely destroyed Bunny and Mimete. It wasn't like those two heels were particularly well-loved either, but still, to some people, a heel was a heel. Reika, quite frankly, didn't give a damn. She did what she had to to win: if that made her a heel, then so be it.

Sliding in the ropes, Reika got up to her feet, stretching lightly on the ropes like a cat before a hunt. Her sisters would be watching, she knew, and both of them would be upset that they wouldn't be participating in this match. They'd have to learn, one way or another, that not everything could be a tag match. Reika had to go it alone for glory sometimes, just like any other wrestler, and her sisters would just have to accept that.

Alright, mystery opponent, she thought quietly to herself. Who are you, and what kind of woman will you be?

Jean Grey's music started and she rushed down to the ring. She seemed enthusiastic about the match and held her hands out to either side for high fives from the passing fans who reached out for her. She slid into the ring and spared a glance at Reika before ehading to the far side and waving to other fans from there who did not get a look at her from her initial entrance.

Reika folded her arms as she watched Jean enter. Her opponent seemed a lot more peppy and enthusiastic than either Mimete or Bunny had been, plus the crowd seemed to like her a lot as well. That didn't tell her anything about what she was like as a wrestler, though, but Reika could wait to find out.

As Jean climbed into the ring, Reika allowed herself a faint smile. "You seem to have a lot of fans," she said. "Tell me, how upset will they be when I beat you?

Shrugged slightly tugging at one of her elbow pads.

"Oh I don't know. Some of them actually get excited at seeing me sell the defeats. And anyway. You seem awfully confident."

"What can I say? So far, I have a decent track record against redheads."

Slowly, Reika unfolded her arms and took a step forwards. Her opponent wasn't a braggart, and didn't rise to the baiting, which meant that she was an opponent that would definitely have to be taken seriously. Eying Jean carefully, Reika waited for the bell to ring.

When the bell did ring Jean went to circle Reika before attempting to lunge forward for a grapple.

As the bell rang, Reika lunged as well, wanting to tie up with her opponent as quickly as possible. The two met in the centre of their ring, intertwining their arms as they locked up collar and elbow. Reika didn't even grunt as the two of them struggled, her face remaining calm and quiet even as she pushed and shoved against Jean. A second later, though, she shot an elbow up, aiming to nail Jean in the gut as she leaned back, aiming to flip the other girl over onto her back.

Jean would graple around with Reika a bit to get a feel for ehr strength and would certainly be able to hold her own. But then she sensed the movement in Reika's arm and would move aside as Reika went for the elbow shot. Reflexively she would try to grab for the arm to get a secure grip on it and try to take Reika down to the ground on her belly in an armbar and go to torque her arm upwards.

The moment Jean grabbed her armbar, Reika's face tightened in a frown. Moving quickly, Reika suddenly dropped down, kicking back in the hopes of nailing Jean's heel or lower leg, and hopefully unbalancing her. If she succeeded, then she would suddenly pitch forwards, hoping to flip Jean hard onto her back.

Jean could sense Reika trying to slip out but Jean's own wrestling reflexes would be sharp enough at this point to counter this. When Reika tried to fall back, Jean would simply tighten her grip on the upper arm and elbow she held tightly and proceed to force Reika down on her belly to try and work the armbar.

"You're not getting away from me so easily, goldilocks."
