Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Here comes Tai, the WWE Advocate to review it!
The Good:
New Day vs The Usos was every bit as good, if not flat out better, than their match at MITB, go out of your way to watch this one, it is a delight!
Sami vs Mike was a fun, quick, little filler match.
The Meh:
Corbin vs Nakamura was ok. Uninspired, probably going to lead into a much better no DQ match on Smackdown.
Owens vs Styles was certainly not BAD, but it felt like it never really got into second gear, and while I like the IDEA of the "roll a submission into pin" finish, the fact that it was a slow count and that AJ sold it like he was dead just kinda killed it. Shoulda been kicking his legs and should have been a normal count, not a slow "ref dead from bump" count. Felt like a botch.
Womens match was decent, nothing special. Interested in seeing Natalya vs Naomi, Charlotte can't have ALL the big PPV title matches after all
The Bad:
John Cena vs Rusev...just bland. boring. by the numbers (yet of course, the idiots in philly woke up and were loud and proud for it), with even an obligatory table AA table spot feeling bland. Good old John Boy wins yet again, for MURICA, because Rusev just can't catch a break these days.
Punjabi Prison: Good lord was this ugly. I praised the MITB match with Orton and Jinder for having a great old school style main event match in an old school town.
This match though, wow. Just sad. Boring, ploddingly slow, no real tension, and featured the return of THE guy that NOBODY wanted to come back, The Great Khali. Just meh and bad and hope they never do this gimmick ever again.
Oh, but whichever Singh took that table spot? Pay him double, because HOLY SHIT that table bump looked amazing.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
It´s very astounding for me like this evil foreigner stuff still gets americans to come alive. You would probably be hard pressed to bring 20% of all native Germans on the street with a German flag and shout GERMANY just once. Having a spectacle like the 4th of july would simply be unthinkable here, our reunion day is a common holiday most people have no idea what they actually celebrate.
I am pretty sure that the only German wrestler on NXT would only earn a ghastly and eerie silence with Western Europe audiences if he had a full blown nationalist face gimmick (not talking about a german flag on the trouser or something light like that)and RL hate if he had a heel gimmick like that with several interest groups demanding it to be taken down.
The sad ting is that I predicted the ending of the Mahal vs Orton match in all it´s "glory" in the moment the Punjabi prison match was announced. This match type plain and simply sucks.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Looks like I have to give Cena some credit where it is due, as much as that kills me inside.
He is indeed not clinging to his spot as the undefeatable veteran champion and has repeatedly lost lately on weeklies in the last months, fair and square and in the middle of the ring. Maybe the Rock has positively influenced him on this.^^
And speaking of Hollywood Rock and his comparison to Cena, it looks like Cena is about to enter a movie in a real role that I would call a blockbuster without feeling bad for it, Bumblebee. It is a real movie thought for mainstream audiences, not just a WWE production like the Marine or the role of a dad who AAs his son on saturday morning TV.

Was there a problem with Cena recently? Ive loved his matches and stuff ever since his Summerslam match with DB, especially since he won the us title and everything that followed from that.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Not exactly a problem. But the guy made me turn of TV or switch channels whenever his music began to play. When I choose to stay tuned, I usually had to pay horribly for it when I saw Cena ramble in a Yoda voice, mocking fans who asked for a litlte less staler act, pour barbeque sauce over a defenseless middle aged man in his underwear, ruin a wedding in a very filthy way, defeat two dominant stables nearly on its own, leave fellow face wrestlers hang out to dry, steal them out of their championships, lift the Big Show for the first(lol) time and book himself into world championship matches at his leisure. The really sad part is that I am probably missing some horrible stuff in this list.
I don´t know if the man himself had a say in it but in the attempt to justify his superstale act, Cena literally buried a decade of potential main eventers(like Wade Barrett) and was used to sabotage real wrestling storylines to steal some thunder. At the same time, he often benefited from the inabilty of his real competition for the top spots to stay sober(Jeff Hardy), the need to travel(Brock Lesnar), attitude problems(CM Punk) or not get hurt(Daniel Bryan).
For me, John Cena symbolizes the type of guy I despise the most at my working place. The guy/girl that pretends to be friendly and appears to stand up for his fellow colleagues, but who ultimately will shrug his shoulders and do what the boss tells him in the safe knowledge that he will look good with the argument that the boss knows best and the most important division of a company is the PR division, shortly followed by accounts. Not a really evil fellow, but a full fledged company man where money and perception always come first.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Wow, Bayley getting booed massively when she had her injury promo on RAW.
But you have to say that she basically asked for that verbal asskicking when she said how cheesy it was when she thanked her fans. Michael Cole saying how this is bizzaro world does not help in the slightest either and just fits perfectly with that desaster of a promo.
