Yvette King Vs Lorenza Saldano
Standard Boxing Rules
Fight Lasts 10 Rounds or to KO

Yvette King:

It had been a few months after her first match her at AFW. She had lost to Neggy and despite her best efforts she couldn't get herself out of the funk. She had hopped that another match would get her out of it. But when she discovered who she was fighting, well, that didn't help at all. If anything it made her funk worse. Neggy was good, really good infact. But then there was Lorenza. An actual champion. Double champion actually when you consider that she had managed to take two belts. Then you could say a god-knows amount champion simply because of the number of times that she had defended them. In terms of skill. This was going to be tough, bordering on the impossible. Yvette had a rookie career so far. Fighting 13 times and having a mixed bag of wins, wins by knockouts, losses and then losses by knockouts. All in all they averaged out. Her first 'Professional' fight of sorts against Neggy hadn't gone well at all and highlight the obvious skill difference between a rookie and a pro.

Backstage, Yvette was bust putting on her black gloves, taking the time to ensure that the fit was right, nice and more importantly comfortable. She was about to put herself through hell. She might as well be as comfortable as possible while doing it. tightening them slightly she punched her gloves together before doing her black robe up, sliding the hood to cover her face. She took a few labored breaths, forcing her body to get into the zone. While the odds of winning this were slim, she was still going to go there, be aggressive and go to war. She was going to get up into Lorenza's face and try to unnerve her. She hadn't met Lorenza before the fight and it was strange. Usually in a professional boxing match, there is the weigh in and then the face off, everything to drum up publicity and also give your opponent a cold hard stare. Here at the AFW there was no such thing. Well maybe there was for belt fights, but for these matches, nothing. he first time she would meet the woman face to face was in the ring.

She had researched Lorenza. The internet was full of Mexican YouTube videos highlight Lorenza's career, from start to finish. The videos however hadn't give Yvette the insight she was looking for. She had been hoping to find a weakness, or something along those lines, but instead all she got was Lorezna seemed to be like a tank. Every combo was nasty, and nothing could really knock her done, except brute force. That was the moment when Yvette had decided on her battle strategy for the fight. There was little point in trying to out maneuver or try and beat her in a game of technical punches. Instead she was going to try and use overwhelming force to try and throw her off her game. For now though, everything was ready. Leaving her dressing room she would begin walking down the tunnel. She didn't exactly have a ring crew, or even a coach. Coming to Japan had caused her to lose all of her contacts. Thankfully the AFW were willing to supply at least semi decent staff to back her up. Once she met up with her team in the tunnel, Her musicbegan to play. This is was it. No going back now. As she began to walk forward the announcer began to speak.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Put your hands together for our first contender. She's from Alabama in the United States, standing at  5'9" and weighing in at 510lbs. With a professional record 0 wins and 1 loss, please welcome to the ring, Yvette King!" The crowd would start applauding as she walked out of the tunnel and made her way to the ring, hood still up. The AFW had even shelled out for some commentators, though she figured that was maybe more because of Lorenza and less about her. They had managed to rope a rather young boxing commentator who had been joined by a rather muscled retired heavyweight boxer form the states.

"Our first fighter is pretty much a rookie then, only one fight under her belt. That fight a loss. Its going to be a tough fight for her tonight right Jeff?"

"Most certainly Mike, Losing your first fight can be a massive drain on your morale and you would want to come back stronger for  your next match, but when your next match is this, well boy. You know you are in some serious trouble"

It took a minute, but Yvette had climbed into the ring, had her robe taken off and was bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet, shadow boxing as she took in the sheer number of people who were watching this match. She had fought in crowds of hundreds, but this was in the thousands, and that wasn't counting on the people watching at home. The crowd were happy and cheering, but it seemed as if they were not really behind her. That was understandable. Lorenza had a massive following, meaning that most people in the stadium were going to be backing her to win, not Yvette. That was going to be yet another thing she was going to have to work through. She began to do a lap of the ring, jogging it as she did, taking that moment to pump some more adrenaline around her body, as well as getting her feet attuned to the ring canvas. Stepping from a hard floor and onto a ring canvas felt was two different feelings. It could take her a few moments. After finishing her lap, Yvette got into her corner, leaning against the post as she awaited Lorenza's entrance, a small amount of anxiety now gnawing on the corner of her mind.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Lorenza Saldano:

It had been a little while since Lorenza had last stepped into the AFW ring. After a string of fights in her first few months of being a member of this league which had included a hardcore brawl, a pair of battles against her friend and rival Carmen Rodriguez that had ended in a loss and a draw respectively, and a very bizarre combination match of chess, boxing, and muay thai against a fellow former world champion. After going through that gauntlet of Olympic medalist and muay thai titleholder, Lorenza needed a break, and she had spent a brief sabbatical back on her home continent, both in Texas, where she had offered a week-long class to teach young girls in the community some boxing basics at her uncle's gym, and in the city of her birth, Tijuana, in Mexico, where she had received a number of ovations and honorary awards.

But Lorenza could not stay away from the ring for too long. And this time, she was going to be back in the boxing ring. She had only had a pair of true boxing matches since she had joined AFW, and she had an itch which needed to be scratched. After spending nearly half of her life doing nothing but boxing, branching out was thrilling, but it could also be a little tiring if she strayed too far from what she knew and loved. She had asked for a pure boxing match, and her wish had been granted, as she was now thrust into the ring against a new, young boxer who only relatively recently had joined AFW—and who only recently had launched her boxing career.

Lorenza could not do much research about Yvette because there was not much research to do. She found a couple of YouTube videos of the girl's amateur career in the United States, and had gone over the tape of the girl's first AFW fight. She had lost it, though she had put up a good fight. Lorenza felt confident going into this fight, but she knew that, as a huge underdog, this Yvette would be doing whatever it took to win. She would be taking risks and pulling out all the stops. Physically, she was nearly a match for Lorenza, at least in every measureable way. Lorenza knew that she could not just coast through this fight. She had to exercise her natural talent to propel herself to victory.

It had been quite a while since the last time she had won a victory in the boxing ring.

Lorenza came out of the tunnel and into the arena with her usual team behind her, the collection of old friends and relatives who had always supported her in her boxing career. When she looked across the ring and saw her opponent and her team, she realized that Yvette had an AFW team in her corner. Lorenza supposed that it made sense, since, as a rookie who had started her professional career in AFW, she had not had time to get comfortable with her own team who would follow her wherever she went. Lorenza could hardly remember when she had been that new to the sport. This would be an interesting fight.

The Mexican boxer would slide into the ring as things were put in their proper places in her corner. The crowd roared loudly, cheering for the former world champion, the One and Only—though one who was no longer quite so invincible. She would slide off her robe, tossing it back to her cornerwoman, revealing her white sports bra, her green trunks with red decals, and her green gloves, the same style that she had worn for almost her whole career. She brought her arms up above her head, stretching out her muscles, limbering up. She kicked her legs. And, as she stretched out and warmed up, she would try to meet the gaze of her blonde opponent, hoping to feel her out and make an impression on her, even as they were in opposite corners of the ring. What struck Lorenza most of all was just how young this girl looked. She looked almost like a baby.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

It didn't take long for Lorenza to make her appearance. The announcer going through the same role call as he had done with Yvette, only this time with a significantly better fight record. Lorenza had been rarely lost. In fact in her entire boxing career there was only one person who had caused her to lose. Watching her entire the ring, Yvette would stare constantly at her. Doing her best not to break eye contact where possible. Lorenza seemed to be doing something of a similar tactic. There was no denying that Lorenza was terrifying. Her stature was tall, and her body well toned in just the right places. However it was clear to see to everyone that Lorenza was older than Yvette. She was only 20 years of age and Lorenza had significantly longer to practice her craft.

"Right so here we are. Two fairly evenly balanced fighters in terms of stats. Both around the same height and weight"

"Now while that is true, everyone assumes that it makes the match even. But you have to look at it like this, Lorenza is a few centimeters taller. Not a massive difference, but it means that Lorenza is more than likely going to have a slightly longer reach. Not by much, but a experienced boxer will know how to exploit that by finding that sweet spot to stand. And yes, she is roughly a few pound heavier. So expect her to hold her ground a little bit more. Now you will hardly notice it in the first few round, but in a 10 round match like this, it adds up. By round 6 or 7 you will start to see it all come into play"

"True, very true. But we are talking about Lorenza Saldano here. Her track record on quick knockouts is something to bare in mind. We might not even make it to round 6"

While the commentators were busy talking away the referee would call the duo to the centre of the ring. Yvette would push off the post, propelling herself forward with some speed, trying to make sure she was in the centre first. Call it petty, but Yvette at least wanted to be first in something. As Lorenza would approach, Yevette would punch her black gloves together. When they were close enough together, the referee started to go through the usual dribble before the start of the match. Nothing new to either of them. The entire time that the referee spoke Yvette kept her eyes staring forward, almost glaring towards Lorenza. At the end of the referees speech they were told to finally touch gloves.

There was a lot to be said about glove touching. It was a good time to get your message across, and Yvette planned to do just that. She would push her arms out, lifting her gloves fists above Lorenzas and then smashing down on the with force. No light touching like they sometimes did, true power. A message. That Yvette was not going to hold back. She would pull her arms back so that Lorenza could return the gesture before pushing her arms out to touch the front of Lorenza's gloves, once more with force. The crowd could help but 'oooohhh' and leer at the gesture. Yvette was clearly trying to intimidate. A tactic that remained to see how effective it would be. After all the commotion in the centre of the ring, she would turn around and make her way back to her corner, waiting now for nothing but the bell.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Post by Daaharu Fri Dec 25, 2015 5:35 pm

The blonde girl, in terms of her physical form, looked every bit as young as her twenty years, though there was no doubting that there was a good deal of strength wrapped up in those lithe limbs and that tight, muscled tummy. Her eyes betrayed nothing but pure determination—she knew that she was the underdog coming into this match, but she was not going to give Lorenza anything that the Tijuana Tigress did not earn with her fists. That was fine, as Lorenza intended to take everything that she wanted from this girl. Her goal was a first-round knockout. Though it would hurt a little to punch all that cute out of the girl's young face, Lorenza intended to pummel her youthful foe until any semblance of consciousness left her body.

As the audience prepared itself and the commentators continued to drone on, the referee stepped into the center of the ring and beckoned for the two fighters to join her there. Lorenza would shake out her arms one last time and make her way briskly into the center of the ring, being beaten there by about a second by what was apparently a very eager Yvette. Lorenza smirked as she and the blonde boxer continued to stare into each other's eyes, neither blinking, neither removing their gaze from the powerful hold that both of them held each other in. The referee explained the rules, which of course Lorenza knew by heart, and which Yvette must be intimately familiar with as well. There was no need to more than a cursory amount of attention to her. They lavished their attentions upon each other, still locked in a steely glare.

When the referee instructed them to touch gloves, Lorenza immediately began to lift her gloves to bring them down on Yvette's first, but the blonde seemed intent on making a statement. Lorenza would press her gloves against Yvette's for a moment, as if struggling against her, but, if the rookie wanted to go first, Lorenza wouldn't complain. She lowered her gloves and held them motionless as Yvette brought hers down upon them, as hard as she could. The referee seemed surprised by the viciousness of it, and the crowd would murmur a little. Lorenza would respond in kind, lifting her green gloves up and then bringing them smashing down hard on top of Yvette's. After that, they pressed their gloves together, Yvette shoving forward as hard as she could, still trying to make a statement. Lorenza shoved back, refusing this time to let Yvette gain the upper hand.

Their gloves pressed and pushed against each other for several long seconds as the crowd watched, waiting to see who would gain the psychological advantage. As it turned out, Lorenza managed to hold her ground, refusing Yvette the chance to press forward, but she could not push Yvette back, either. Stalemate. Tie game. With one last meaningful declaration with her glare, Lorenza would turn away from Yvette and walk back to her corner.

She grabbed onto the ropes and stretched out her whole body, pushing out her butt, then pulling herself up. She shook her head and took a swig of water from a bottle that her cornerwoman offered her. Her coach gave her some last-second suggestions. Then, the bell rang. Lorenza turned and pounded her green gloves together. She pointed a glove across the ring at Yvette. She smiled, keeping that green glove pointed right at Yvette for a long second as she walked back towards the center of the ring. Then, she brought the glove back in to cover her face, and brought the other up to join it. Her guard was up now. This fight was on. Lorenza moved in, looking for an opening, getting ready to launch the first strike if Yvette didn't try somthing quickly.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Post by jakeb1993 Sun Jan 03, 2016 9:51 pm

Going back to the corner the stare down had turned out to be a dead end. Lorenza was unrelenting and it seemed that for a while nothing was going to change that. Going back to her corner, Yvette took the time to carry on and do some stretches. Her body was fully limber, but it never hurt to just make sure your body was ready for anything. Before she had time to fully finish, the bell range and forced Yvette to spring into action.

She knew that in a match like this it was vastly important to get the first hit in the match. Whoever scored the first hit controlled the flow of the match. To Yvette getting that first hit was very important. Allowing Lorenza to dictate the pace of the match was lethal as it allowed the woman to use her experience to increase her chances to score hits. So as soon as the bell rang, Yvette sprang from the corner. Her gloves were loosely up, guarding her midsection more than her face. She paced herself forwards, knowing that it was important to get to Lorenza before she got to her. As she got close she would raise her gloves higher and higher, still not protecting her entire face, but at least offering herself some protection from a sudden attack.

When the distance between them had been closed, And Lorenza had her full face guard up,Yvette would throw her first punch, a wildly fast left hook wrapping around the boxers body and smashing into her lower right waist. You see, Yvette was actually a southpaw, leading with her left rather than her right. It was something that she kept under wraps as she was ambidextrous and could fight either way, but her southpaw was her strongest. And since she was giving it her all against this woman, she was throwing everything she had at her.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Post by Daaharu Mon Jan 04, 2016 8:31 pm

Lorenza knew the importance that the first hit could hold in a fight like this. While she had won without landing the first hit, she did prefer to get on the board first, and it was not in her nature to be overly cautious. Yvette was practically a rookie, tough and with all the physical assets she needed to be an all-time great, but without the experience or the techniques necessary to beat a former champion like Lorenza. Yvette was going to make mistakes. Lorenza would not. Lorenza would capitalize on the mistakes her opponent made, would control the tempo and the flow of this bout, and she would knock Yvette out as she had almost every opponent she had faced before.

Yvette looked a little bit anxious, and Lorenza could sense that the other woman wanted to start off this fight by putting Lorenza on the defensive. Well, the former champion was not going to allow herself to be set back by a mere rookie! She moved forward briskly, keeping her guard up, bobbing on her feet, watching Yvette get closer and closer, the two of them on a clear collision course.

Yvette's first punch was lightning fast, faster than Lorenza had expected it to be. This young girl obviously had a lot of velocity stored up inside that tall, muscled body! If Lorenza had a slight advantage in sheer strength, she was starting to wonder if Yvette, in all her youthful vigor, had an ever so slight advantage in speed. Not only was the punch fast, but it came from her left side, and the split second more which Lorenza needed to react to the blow meant that she was not going to get her gloves down in time to deflect it as it sailed in towards her waist.

Lorenza was going to get hit, but she had options, too. Yvette's left side was open while she was punching, and so Lorenza, though she could not completely set the tone of the match with this first punch, would get herself at least an even exchange.

As Yvette's black glove plowed into Lorenza's side, the Tijuana Tigress would fight back with a right-handed haymaker, aiming it right for the left side of Yvette's face. Even while she was taking a hard hit to her torso and grunting slightly at the pain, Lorenza would give a brutal blow to the side of the head, intending to rattle Yvette's jaw as the boxers began trading punches in the center of the ring!

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Post by jakeb1993 Fri Jan 22, 2016 8:19 pm

For Yvette, scoring the first hit was crucial. And her left handedness did seem to catch the older woman off guard, allowing her to secure the first hit of the match. For Yvette it was a minor victory in itself. Sadly that security was about to be wiped away. Lorenza had been able to fire off her own punch. Yvette had been so focused on her own attack that she had let her own guard down and now she was going to pay for it. Lorezna's glove came smashing in from the side, smashing into her jaw and rocking her head in its entirety. She had never felt a punch of that sort of strength before. The force of the hit caused Yvettes head to snap to the side, her body to lose balance and forcing the younger girl to take several staggering steps backwards.

Sadly, Yvettes unintentional retreat was going to force her guard to sink downwards, leaving her even more vulnerable to a nasty follow up strike. If she was lucky and Lorenza didn't close the gap, She would raise her guard back up, tightening her legs by digging her feet into the canvas and stopping her retreat in its tracks. Her head was still rocking from the strike, her Jaw throbbing like mad. So Yvette was most certainly not in the mood for another hasty offence. Now she would raise her fists up and dig herself in for a battering. They always said the first round was the worst.

Yvette managed to sneak in the first hit, her glove pounding into Lorenza's side, but Lorenza's own punch, landing just a half-second later, obviously gave her the upper hand in this opening exchange. The blonde's head snapped to the side as the green leather glove drilled into her cheek, and she immediately began to stagger, to her right and back, taking several steps away from Lorenza. The veteran knew vulnerability when she saw it, and was practically dashing forward in order to keep up with her backpedaling opponent.

Lorenza threw a follow-up strike, a hard left hook that she hoped would equalize the pain in Yvette's face and maybe send her staggering in the other direction. But the American was quick, and she managed to get her gloves up just in time, right before the hammer fell on her face once again. Lorenza's glove pounded into Yvette's guard, and, though the blow had plenty of force behind it, the fact that it did not land cleanly meant that little damage was done.

Still, Lorenza had her opponent backed up, not quite on the ropes, but near them, and Yvette now seemed intent to remain on the defensive. Smart girl, but even that was not going to save her from the Mexican ex-champion. Lorenza began to fire quick jabs into Yvette's guard, testing her, forcing her to keep it up, using the rapid-fire assault as an effort to psychologically and physically overwhelm the much-younger girl. She spread her feet slightly, trying to assume a position that was almost surrounding that of her opponent.

Then, after several barrages of jabs, Lorenza would go low, trying to find Yvette's solar plexus with a hard, upward-curving hook!

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Yvette was running out of options now. While she had gotten lucky in managing to raise her fists in time to guard against Lorenza's follow up attack, she could little but just take the pounding of her guard from Lorenza. The woman was not letting the pressure off one bit, punch and punch hit her her guard, forcing Yvette to tense her arms tighter and dig her feet in more. Courtesy of the stance adopted by Lorenza there was little direction Yvette could take but backwards. And Yvette was adamant that she was not going to retreat any further. She wasn't going to let herself get throw against the ropes this early in the match.

For now, Yvette carried on taking the beating from Lorenza, little damage was being done but it was draining her endurance and energy slightly having to maintain the guard. Her only comforting grace was that she knew that it was going to drain Lorenza's energy too. The little barrage of punches was soon disrupted however when Lorenza broke out of formation and threw a punch right into her solar plexus. Yvette's guard was far too high to allow her to block it and so instead the glove smashed into her, causing Yvette to groan heavily and take a final step backward, but it was still one step closer to the ropes than what Yvette had wanted. Part of Yvette wanted to just curl up and recover after the shot, but she knew that doing that would cost her any chance of victor,y instead the best way to cope was to fight back. SO almost immediately after taking the step back, Yvette snapped back to it. If Lorenza hadn't already managed to launch a follow up punch, Yvette would throw her left fist forward, trying to go for a direct Jab to the face to see if she could get Lorenza to step back, giving Yvette time to breath.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Lorenza was giving her opponent's guard quite the beating, firing jab after jab into those gloves, forcing them to soak up the full force of a former champion's fury. Yvette herself might not have been taking very much damage. It was tiring for the Mexican woman to keep up this barrage, and she hoped that the American was just as fatigued from enduring it. Lorenza would not keep it up for very much longer. She enjoyed using moves like this: lulling her foes into accepting a pattern, and then breaking that pattern at the point where she could do maximum damage.

The punch smacked hard into Yvette's solar plexus, and Lorenza got the reaction she wanted. Her opponent doubled over somewhat, and took another step back, almost putting herself on the ropes, right where Lorenza wanted her. The former champion put her gloves up and took a step forward to chase.

Yvette managed to rally. She threw a punch which came right at Lorenza's face, and it looked like it was coming in hard. Lorenza had to be sure to be wary of this sort of attack, and she hastily got her gloves up, saving her face from taking the impact but sacrificing all of her forward momentum. The force of the blow rocked her back onto her heels, and, though Lorenza refused to step back for her foe, she was put into a far more conservative posture, sacrificing her offense and leaning back a bit, giving Yvette a second's rest and at least a little more space to maneuver.
