Violeta 'Eztlicoatl' Ayala Empty Violeta 'Eztlicoatl' Ayala

Post by rhapsody Sat Jun 27, 2015 7:54 am

Ring Attire:
Eztlicoatl

Ring Name: Eztlicoatl
Real Name: Violeta Ayala y Ortega
Age: 22
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Dark brown
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 120 lbs
Nationality: Mexican (Coatepec, Veracruz)
Alignment: Sort of a tweener.  She tries really hard to be villainous, but mostly comes off endearingly silly.

Entrance Theme: Therion - 'Quetzalcoatl'

In the Ring

Style: Technical wrestler, focusing mainly on suplexes and submissions designed to weaken limbs.  Her striking is rather poor, and she spends most of her time trying to keep people grounded and under control (or in the corner, where her finishers are set up).  Occasionally, Violeta takes to the top rope, where she demonstrates a surprising acumen for high-flying moves.  Her tendency to showboat, however, can get her in trouble even when the advantage is on her side.

Preferred Matches: Up for anything.  She performs best in normal singles matches and submission-based contests, though.

Strengths: Dangerous suplexes, solid grappling skills, lucha training
Weaknesses: Way too into her gimmick, not particularly good at slugging it out

Signature Moves
2012 - The Feathered Serpent - Stretch Plum.

Arrow From The Sun - Sleeper suplex.  The victim typically lands on their stomach.

Finishing Moves
Descent of the Hummingbird - Fisherman's superplex.  She tries to hold on for the pin, but more often than not ends up bouncing off the mat and having to scramble for a cover.

Momoztli - Used for the more risque matches.  The victim is hung from the second rope in the corner and subjected to a reverse facesit, with Violeta crossing her legs, leaning back against the top rope, and slouching rather villainously.

Personal Information

Attire: Violeta dresses fairly minimalist in the ring - a loincloth, sandals, and halter top, all fairly traditional, as well as a pair of red-tipped feathers on either side of her braided hair.  Her entrance attire is considerably more elaborate, and involves an enormous feathered headdress, numerous jeweled ornaments made of jade and obsidian, and a huge red cape with a golden sun depicted on his back.

Personality: Fairly normal outside the ring, to the point of considering herself bland and unexciting, Violeta tries to make up for it with an elaborate persona based on Aztec mythology that portrays herself as a sort of bloodthirsty warlord.  She makes reference to ominous, lofty subjects (the feathered serpent, human sacrifice, the rise and fall of Huitzilopochtli, and so on) and occasionally sheds a drop or two of blood during promos.  It...doesn't quite work, and the crowd both realizes that and finds it kind of funny, to her great embarrassment.  Her attempts to be intimidating often come off as trying just a tiny bit too hard, ruining the illusion of power she wants to project.  It doesn't help that, deep down, Violeta's a pretty decent person and isn't quite willing to go through with the more extreme implications of her gimmick.  Still, you never know what a person might do, if they're pushed too far....

History: Eztlicoatl, as she calls herself now, is a young luchadora turned AFW prospect.  She's of mestizo descent - a combination of Spanish and Native American blood, being one sixth Nahua on her father's side - and grew up slightly south of the municipio of Coatepec amid a large partly Native population.  She had a good childhood despite growing up in a fairly poor community, and during her teenage years she developed a love of sports, particularly soccer, which she grew to be quite skilled at.  She played varsity during high school and had hopes of someday going pro when she was old enough.  Unfortunately, once she graduated, Violeta found herself barred from further advancement; due to the subpar education made available in her area and her family's lack of money, she wouldn't be able to attend college.  With her hopes of success dashed, the 18-year-old took to waiting tables and trying to figure out what to do with her life.

Eventually, her fondness for athletic competition proved too strong, and she started learning how to wrestle at a local gym owned by a retired luchador.  Violeta took to lucha libre as eagerly as she had to soccer, and proved to be a quick learner.  By the time she was 21, she was getting bookings and wrestling in front of crowds.  The thing was, though...even as good as she was, nobody really cared.  She was just another masked wrestler doing flips and elaborate submissions, stuck in the middle of eight-woman tags and never quite managing to break out into the spotlight on her own.   Violeta became discouraged.  Was she boring?  Did her personality (pleasant, but admittedly milquetoast) get in the way of the stardom she'd dreamed of first on the field, and now in the ring?  Every night, she saw the charismatic heroes, and especially the larger-than-life villains, getting huge reactions while she was reduced to a bit player.

And so, casting off her mask, Violeta Ayala created something wholly new.  She drew on the culture of her father's people - her people - researching customs, dress, mythology, everything.  When she was done, she'd pieced together a gimmick for herself, a violent, primal warlord based off the merciless fighters and sanguine priests of the old empire.  A few weeks practicing promos in front of the mirror, and Violeta was ready to pitch her new persona - Eztlicoatl, the 'blood serpent' - to other organizations. None of the lucha federations near her were interested, and so she broadened her scope and began watching foreign wrestling federations, just in time to catch AFW Summer Splash 2015.  Several of the matches in Mexico (including a few with admittedly fake macahuitls) greatly piqued her interest.  The sexual content was new, and a little disconcerting, but with Eztlicoatl's domineering personality and forcefulness, it'd be easy to come across as confident and scary, right?

Violeta took advantage of the event being in her home country and went out to audition.  To her joy, she was accepted, and to her considerably greater nervousness, that meant she now had to walk the walk as much as she talked the talk.  Cutting promos on the mirror as Eztlicoatl was one thing, particularly with her extensive research of Aztec thought and culture - living as Eztlicoatl was another altogether.  Only time would tell how it turned out.
