It was the wait that bothered Carmen the most. Sitting in the darkness of the backstage area while the crowd murmured outside, growing louder with each passing moment. Back in her boxing days she was always removed from it, warming up in the locker room, staying focused. Out here she was on the edge, and the itch, that little twitch that drew her into the fight, dug into her like a raw nerve. Rodriguez blood boils the closer it gets to the ring.

She still had a good two minutes before her music started, and she spent that time getting that edge off, doing some pad work with Army. "One!" Out came a jab. "Two!" A cross followed. "Three!" A hook now, coming around the bend. "Two!" A cross to end the combination. One of Carmen's favorite combos. Crisp, quick, clean.

"Nice, nice." Army held out the pads and took each blow straight-on, while the stage crew worked around them and wisely kept a wide berth. "Ready to get back in the ring, huh? Sure you don't have some more girls you want to fuck before you get back into it?"

"Funny." She missed the pad on purpose and fired a warning shot at his head. Wasn't fast enough to hit, but Army had to jerk back, with a shit-eating grin on his face the whole time. "Real funny."

But not wrong. Carmen had been entertaining quite a lot of affectionate company since her fight with Lorenza. That bout took a lot out of her - a lot - and the downtime was needed, but she had to get back on the ball and do her job -she was a wrestler, she couldn't take months off between matches like before. She was starting to get a small following, new fans to go along with the ones she carried from her boxing career, and if she spent too long in the shadow, she'd lose the momentum.

Typically she would have given Army a little more shit for that crack, but she honestly didn't feel he deserved it, especially after he got ambushed in his last match. She hadn't been there, taking the night off for a little girl's night out, and Army had a right to be a little pissed off - after all, the whole reason they accompanied each other to the ring was to avoid crap like that. But he took it in stride. Army was a lunkhead, but he wasn't one to bear a grudge - he was here, watching her back like a good brother. She'd pay him back for that, someday.

Her [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRfM8t6uvQw:cw50wd1p]music[/url:cw50wd1p] started right on time, and she emerged from the back, wearing the same black and red robe from her boxing days. Fighting Clyde got her thinking that she could use a little more theatre. He had his cowboy thing, she needed a little something, too, so why not stick to her own roots? She didn't know any other wrestlers who came to the ring this way, at least.

She walked up the stairs, throwing out a few to crowd as she stepped through the ropes and took off the robe, revealing her new, official wrestling gear, a cross between boxing attire and a traditional outfit. She had wrestling tights, red and black to match her usual colors, along with the Rodriguez named emblazoned on the front of the waist in bold, capital letters. Her boxing shoes and a black sports bra completed the ensemble, and her fist and forearms were covered up in the usual way, just like she was getting ready for a boxing bout.

She did some bobbing and weaving as the music faded out, focusing on the front - she knew her opponent's name, Maxwell Edison, but not much else. This match had been set up only a day ago, something quick for a returning vet to sink his teeth into, and Carmen hadn't been able to do her usual due diligence. She was going in blind. Hated it, but there it was.

Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max Empty Re: Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max

That shine, that brilliant gleam. It was almost hypnotizing for the warrior who stood backstage. The eyes of the wrestler were focused on the silver-plated object with the wooden handle in his hands. He twirled it around, causing it to flash with the backstage lighting. The hammer was raised into the air like a trophy as those gray-blue eyes admired it's polished beauty.

Maxwell brought the hammer close to his chest as his hands began petting it like a puppy. "All right, pretty...time to go make some friends...it's been a while, hasn't it?" Time was not treating Maxwell very well. He had been away from the ring for what seemed like forever. All of the pent-up rage and angst had helped to further the mental breakdown of the Silver Warrior. Why had he disappeared? Few clues provided any answers. Rumors say that he had become worried about developing a sense of romantic feelings during a spar, or that a certain woman who knocked him flat on his ass caused an unhealthy obsession. Still another said that his cousin had found him, restrained him with the help of a trio of nurses, and admitted him to an institution.

Whatever the reason, he was back. Now was his moment to be like his precious hammer and shine in his return. Clad in silver trunks, Maxwell made his way through the curtains and onto the stage to a loud repeated clanging of a hammer to an anvil playing over the loud speakers. His usual music wouldn't start up, but would just simply be this annoying clanging.

Walking down the ramp with his eyes fixated on the silver hammer, Maxwell made his way to the apron, where he would look up for the first time. His head turned sideways a little before he slid under the bottom rope and into the ring. He'd walk over to the ref, handing the hammer over carefully, knowing that this was where he parted from his beloved. "You take care of her," he said sternly as the ref discarded the weapon to the officials on the outside. His gaze, now without a distraction, would focus upon Carmen. Max noticed that she seemed to have the demeanor of a boxer, but couldn't discern much else.

"Good luck..." he said aloud towards his opponent. Although his sanity seemed to have slipped during his absence, Maxwell had curiously become more polite, at least towards women. With that, he would walk to his corner and wait for the ref to check him for other foreign objects.

Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max Empty Re: Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max

Carmen was annoyed by Max before he even spoke a word. That absolutely was not a good sign.

The sound of an hammer clanging. That was it. Just the sound of a hammer clanging. Carmen didn't have the best taste in entrance music - she liked Rodrigo y Gabriela, but it wasn't like she'd put much effort into picking them for her entrance. It was just a song she happened to like, and she could hardly judge anyone's taste in mind.

But this wasn't music. It was just a damn hammer clanging. If the point was too annoy her into making a mistake during the match, well, it was a good strategy, because he was well on his way.

She winced with every clang as he came down to the arena, brandishing a hammer. For a second, she was confused - she didn't think this was a hardcore match. Not that she would mind if it was, she just didn't see it coming. Then, he handed the thing to the ref, and she was even more confused that before. Why bring a hammer you're not going to use?

She and Army exchanged shrugs as he stepped out, leaving her to it while the ref checked Max, head to toe. Aside from the hammer, he seemed normal enough, but Carmen was keeping on her toes. She doubted they called him 'Mad' Max just because he was a Mel Gibson fan.

She made her way to the center of the ring as the bell rang, bringing up her hands for a tie-up, looking to test strength with this guy. She'd start this match traditional, work on boxing him around once she had a better feel for him.

The silver-haired warrior was fine with being pat down. Honestly, part of him wondered why they would have to do such a thing to him. Sure he liked hardcore matches, but Maxwell was a good boy. At least...that's what he told himself.

As the ref finished up, Max started humming. He wasn't humming any plain old ordinary song. No, he was humming "Maxwell's Silver Hammer".

As the bell rang, he followed suit with Carmen and made his to the center of the ring, all while continuing humming. His hands would rise to Carmen's hands' level before lacing his fingers with hers as the two of them prepared push all of their strength at one another. The humming would just grow louder with every passing second of the lockup as he aimed to bring their arms to chest level before pouring his strength into pushing the boxer backwards.

Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max Empty Re: Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max

Dear God, this was going to be an irritating match, she could tell already. The humming was annoying, she couldn't even tell what song it was supposed to be. His hair was annoying, too, like it hurt her eyes just to look at it, and the way he hadn't said anything so far was more than a little off-putting. Just when Carmen was getting used to how much wrestlers talked and doing a little bit of chatting herself, here came Max.

Carmen was brought back a few steps by Max's push, but she managed to put her feet down and stop the advance, pouring her weight into it as she leaned forward, the chests and shoulders clashing...which made all the humming even more of a nuisance, since she could feel the rumble shake up her own body.

She groaned, squeezing her hands to try and force his fingers back. "Fair warning - if you don't stop humming, I'm going to break your jaw."

Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max Empty Re: Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max

Maxwell was starting to feel some joy inside him. It was like a switch. He knew instinctively that in the ring, a test of strength was a proper way to start a match, but it wasn't until the fingers locked and the pushing started that everything started coming back to him.

His mind had drowned out the boos that greeted him upon his entrance, and the humming had merely overtaken the voices in his head telling him what to do against this opponent. She was strong, strong enough to push back after only losing a step or two. Maxwell aimed to bring their arms out in a crucifix form as if to taunt Carmen as he would lean his head forward to hum loudly in her ear while he wore a sadistic grin on his face.

The humming only stopped when Max parted his lips for the first time, "Break it then!" he whispered loud enough so that the front row could hear.

Well, he asked for it. Carmen wasn't completely serious about breaking his jaw, that was a little much to do on purpose. But she didn't have a problem cracking it, and she would start that right now. The stupid humming was growing louder by the second. He was just begging for the pain

The first step would be getting out of the tie up. They seemed pretty evenly matched with raw power, and this sort of thing could go on for a while - besides, he was locking up her best weapons, she needed those arms free. She brought her head back as far as she could with Max pressing against, as if starting to pull away...then jerked forward, slamming her forehead into the silver-haired devil's face, a vicious headbutt. Not her usual style, but she was picking up all sorts of new tricks, these days.

Maxwell could slowly feel his primal combat coming back to him when that switch was flipped. He never let up the humming though. The Silver Warrior was rather impressed by the way Carmen could match his strength. Rarely did Max find an opponent with as much raw strength.

So enamored by this strength of hers, Max didn't think much of it when Carmen reeled her head backwards, thinking she was just avoiding his humming. However, when her head rushed forward with the headbutt, Max had flashes of previous matches where HE was the headbutter. As the skulls clashed, Max released his hold on the boxer's hands while he reeled back, clasping his head with a smirk on his face as he leaned against the turnbuckle. "Well now...that's quite the thick skull you have there," he said with a grin as his eyes tried unscramble themselves. Man did that give him a headache! He loved it!

Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max Empty Re: Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max

The headbutt wasn't exactly pleasant for her - Max had a pretty hard head, felt like she hit a fleshy brickwall. But he took the worst of it, no question, and it sent him over to the turnbuckle. Wide open. The only question was what she would do about it.

Her move list was improving all the time, but she still had more gaps than she would have liked. A big one had to do with corners - she didn't have any real move that specifically took advantage of them. Her first instinct was to just start pummeling him into the turnbuckle, which wasn't a bad idea...but she could think of a better one. Might as well put that training with Domino to good use.

She got a small running start, jumped up, and came at him with a drop kick, putting as much speed as she could muster into it. She didn't get quite the air she wanted, hitting his stomach instead of his chest, but otherwise it was a good execution. Getting better all the time.

Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max Empty Re: Carmen Rodriguez vs. Mad Max - Welcome Back, Max

Post by mnpinner Sun Jul 06, 2014 3:52 pm

Max's eyes were just rotating back into place. That headbutt had certainly done its job in shutting up the humming, though it continued on his head. He was still quite dazed and needed to gather his wits again.

No sooner had his vision returned than did he see the sight charging towards him. Maxwell's eyes went wide as he knew that it was too late to be able to get out of the way, even as everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Carmen was already air-born, but he sensed her jump didn't quite take her as high as she was aiming. His only instinctive measure was to move his hands to cover his manhood, as if that was going to protect them from damage.

"Oomph!!" was all that escaped his lips as the air was knocked out of him. The boxer's dropkick had landed square on the unintended target. Maxwell's left hand clutched his mid-section instinctively. He would fall to his knees as he struggled to re-gather his air. Max wondered why he was so soon to lose the advantage in this match. For the moment, he was stunned in this bent-over kneeled position, but he knew that this couldn't continue...not if he was to satisfy the voices asking for blood.
