It turned out that the AFW did, indeed, have a boiler room. Who knew? It took a little doing to find the place, located deep in the innards of the arena, but sure enough, it was down there, built like a maze and hot as hell. About three floors, laced with pipes all around, with a few wrenches and other tools, discarded here and there. Dark, only lit with the occasional overhead lamp. It all came together to make this twisted maze of metal, hard to get out of once she found the center.

Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Makoto strolled on down to the heart of the boiler room in her biker outfit and immediately regretted her clothing choice. The place was a balmy 100 degrees, easy, and by the time she finished her walk, she was sweating buckets and thankful that she'd listened to Stone and took her daily water requirements. She had a feeling she'd need all ten cups.

Her second match in AFW, and this was looking to be a tough one. Not that Ryan Knight had been easy, far from it, but she hadn't cared about winning against him. She'd been paid to mess Ryan up, and that was an ongoing project, something she'd ease into.

This, though? For starters, she'd be fighting Adrian alone. She'd told and Stone and Divine to keep their distance. They were close enough to move in if something really went wrong, but otherwise, it was just going to be her and the blonde demon. Tonight, she wasn't the leader of the Valkyries. She was Makoto Takeda, plain and simple.

Which was good, because Makoto Takeda was quite interested in Adrian Knight. Interested enough to use her super-special golden ticket just to get the match she wanted with him, at least. He wasn't the first boy she'd ever been attracted to, but he was the first that ever showed anything back. For most guys, the height difference was the big turnoff, and it had been so long since she even thought she had a chance that she hardly bothered turning on what little charm she had, these days.

But this one was different. Height didn't matter to him - she could fight, offer him a challenge, and nothing else was important. Mako didn't just want to beat him in a fight, she wanted to impress him, and she got the distinct feeling he had similar thoughts. She didn't know where all this would lead to, but she was intrigued enough that she had to follow the path. There was so much potential, here.

Mako let out a happy sigh, glad that no one was around to hear it. She tied her jacket around her waist and sat down, Indian-style, tightening her gloves while she waited for her dance partner. Her face was stoic, serene, calm. Ready.

"I'll be damned.... they actually have a boiler room..." He commented as he made his way down into the thick, soggy heat of the room, if it could really be called a room. More like an underground catacomb that happened to exist one floor above hell. Damn it was hot. Luckily, he'd dressed a bit more for the occasion. The light hoody he typically wore open, exposing his scarred chest beneath and matching black trunks.

As he descended toward the appointed area, he grew more and more focused the closer he got. Normally, he'd have felt a bit apprehensive to go all out against a woman... but their previous spar had proven he didn't have to hold back. He liked that about her. Granted, he'd almost surely have had to go all out on Stone too, but she was more scary than she was attractive. Desire was hot, for sure... but she hadn't managed to register even a blip on his 'threat radar'. Which likely gave her a bigger advantage than either of the other two as she was the only one he underestimated.

Regardless, his opponent was the short, and as he was growing to find she was, cute brawler. It didn't hurt that she wasn't repulsed or sent running at the site of his scars. But, despite his attraction, he didn't plan on going easy on her. It wasn't in his nature and... honestly, he figured she'd be more angry to find out he'd held back and lost than if managed to beat her.

He rounded a corner and spotted Mako sitting a short ways away, her back to him. "You're lucky I fight fair." He said with a smirk as he approached from behind at a leisurely pace. "Ready? Or do you need more time to.... reflect?"

Knight didn't strike her as the type to stand a girl up, and she was right on the money. He showed up on time, walking up behind her. She'd been caught up in her thoughts and hadn't noticed his approach, not helped in the least by all the rattling pipes and rumblings around them. Mako made a mental note on how easy it would be to get the drop on someone here, if you played it smart. Might come in handy...

He startled her, but she eased up by the time she'd glanced his way, rolling her eyes with a little chuckle. She didn't quite share his love of fair play, and if the situations were reversed and he'd been someone she was looking to take out, she would gladly get in an easy shot.

But she didn't want to risk pushing him away. She could play nice. Tonight, at least. Nothing too tricky.

Mako stood up and cracked her neck, getting the bones loose. She answered his question with some body language - she spun around, rushed towards him and jumped up,throwing a quick jab at his face. Actions speaking louder than words, and far more painfully.

And he wasn't the type to stand a girl up. He'd only been right on time because the damned boiler room was like a maze. Which, as it turned out, worked in his favor considering it may have been him that had been caught off guard instead of Mako. And she probably wouldn't have given up the chance to jump him. He couldn't quite decide if he found the trait endearing, or frustrating.... or both. Maybe both.

He chuckled as she jumped. "You should probably be more aware of your surroundings." He grinned as he tightened his gloves and gave his knuckles and neck a quick crack. He backed up his advice, by doing just that. Remembering his experience with her last time and her tendency to attack without warning. With a quick bob and weave, he slipped past the jab and his left fist hooked around at her jaw.

Mako was a simple sort of woman with a simple sort of strategy. Attack with overwhelming force, beat the enemy down, then apply submission holds to make sure they stay down. Rinse and repeat, break bones and spirits. Unfortunately, that sort of shock and awe was MMA all over, and Adrian Knight was unquestionably MMA. Just out of curiosity, she'd Googled him the night before and found some of his American matches. She hadn't seen enough that she had any real advantage going in, but what little she did see gave her some appreciation for what she was up against.

For example, he slipped past her jab with ease, not falling for the same trick twice in a row. Not only did he dodge, but he managed to make her pay for going high - as she came down, she fell right into the hook, and it sent her reeling. She staggered away, grasping her jaw as the feeling fled from it, making a little distance from him.

If she'd seen his fights, then she knew his attack strategy was damn near identical to hers. It was something he'd recognized and admired in her during their last encounter. Though, she was quite a bit more underhanded than he was. Fortunately, what he lacked in underhandeness, he made up for with ferocity and relentlessness.

It light a fire in his eyes when he felt the telltale shock of the first punch landing. Just as she'd gotten when she'd landed that harsh blow to the midsection once before. Seeing her wobble on her feet, he sensed the opportunity for a huge early advantage. "That looks like it hurt... let me give you something to take your mind off it." He said with a predatory grin before charging in and attempting to spear her to the ground. If he managed to take her down, he could begin picking her apart on the ground.

Damn, he hit like a freight train, and falling into the punch didn't help things. Off to a bad start and the fight had barely begun.

She snapped back to reality to see Adrian barreling into her at ramming speed, and she knew full well what he was going for. She was confident about getting him off, even if he did manage to get on top. She'd done it once, she could do it again. But, all the same, she would rather not give him that much of a lead this early on. Not if she could help it.

Instead of going against the spear, Mako fell back as he plowed into her, shooting her knee into his chest as they collided and bucking up the moment her back hit the floor. If it worked, she would throw him off, using his momentum against him. If it didn't work, she was about to take a lot of pain.

Once his shoulder collided with her midsection roughly his arms both moved to wrap around her. But, having decided to hold so tightly to her, he didn't see... but rather he felt the knee wedge between his body and hers. But they were already falling and it was too late to stop his momentum. In his shock, he'd neglected to unwind his arms around her before impact. When they landed, his forearms crashed painfully into the ground below her, preventing his momentum from carrying him over. Instead, her knee found a nice comfy spot in his gut. "Ugh... shit..."He groaned.

Luckily, it struck below the diaphragm, so he managed to retain the ability to breathe. Still, it hurt like hell. Luckily, his arms were pinned under both his and her body weight making it much more difficult to remove him from the top position. But he began working at pulling them free while he recovered from the knee strike so he could get a chance to retaliate before she could capitalize on his mistake.

Mako muttered a few curses under her breath, speaking in her native tongue to do it. Adrian was on top, the last thing she wanted while they had clothes on, but she'd caught some luck, too. The knee had a great effect, made it hard for him to really capitalize. She could work with that. Hell, she would have to if she wanted to survive.

He was trying to pull away, get into a mount position, and Mako just didn't have the weight to pin his arms forever. Slipping away wouldn't work, either, they were too close for it. Or maybe they weren't close enough...

"C'mere." She whispered through a low laugh and reached up, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling his head into hers. At the same, she wrapped her legs around his waist and squeezed. She was trying to latch onto him like a limpet, giving him the embrace of an obsessed lover. It would hurt him if she could lock it, but more importantly, it would keep Adrian from splattering her across the floor.

He heard the curses, but didn't have any idea what they were. He might have to learn Japanese if he planned on living in Japan, it seemed. He was relieved when she removed the knee from his gut. Finally he managed to excise his arms from under her and started to pull back so he could get a few good strikes in before going for the mount position.

But, it was too little too late as he felt her arms wind around his neck. His hands shot up to try and pry her arms away so he could move into a more desirable position. But, before he was able to get free he felt her legs coil around him leaving him without enough of a chance to try and keep her from clasping her ankles together. A gasp, followed by a frustrated growl escaped him as her thighs began compressing his abdomen painfully. He reached back to pry at her legs, but very quickly realized that he didn't have the leverage to even make a worthwhile attempt at freeing himself in that position. His struggles were only met with more pressure, it seemed, so he gave up on that idea. He wriggled in her grasp, trying to find a weak point in her hold while, once again, trying to pry her arms from around his neck. No way her arms were as strong as her legs... he hoped.
