Duo from Iceland has arrived!

Thu Mar 23, 2017 9:38 pm by Jaystar

Hello again everybody!

I managed to get creative, with the result of having two friends, Isa and Julie flown in from Reykjavik, who are ready to rumble in AFW!

While not sure if they get to decide, Isa is still a little bit reserved and is hoping to get a smaller opponent that she could use her lower body strength on, while Julie is very excited and eagerly up for pretty much anything!

If you have any characters who might want to challenge either one of the newcomers, or basically any fun …

Impromptu Break

Thu Mar 23, 2017 7:47 pm by Gadot

Hello,

I'm just leaving this here so people know! I'm dealing with a lot at my new job (coming in as a manager with a person on my team who's been there for years and being a bit of a bitch about it), and I'm trying to finish up my last year of college. So for right now, I'm probably not gonna be around. I'm sorry for everyone I'm leaving up in the air with matches, and that I vanished without saying anything to. If you need me, feel free to message me on Trillian. I'm on it from time to time, …

Carmen Rodriquez vs. Snowman

Post by Dynamo44 on Sun Apr 06, 2014 7:03 am

Normal Match decided by Pin, KO, or Submission

The Tension ring was filled with wild and crazy fans as they were all excited for the next match. It can be heard all around the building, especially in the locker rooms. In the men's side, a young boy was preparing himself for his first match in a long time. He's been on break for quite a while, but he was ready to get back in. He had an icy cold stare in the mirror as he had to get his no-nonsense side going to play in his name.

As the fans were still cheering and waiting, there was suddenly a sound of a music box playing that filled the arena. The audience was in silent confusion as they wondered what's going on. Then, snow started to fall and they seemed to be flying to middle of the walkway. The snow started to swirl like a cyclone and at the first note of an electric guitar, there stood a boy wearing a white sleeveless hoodie with the lower part of the hood covering his nose and mouth, white pants, white gloves, and white converse sneakers. As "Music Box" by Thrice continued to play, the boy started to "control" the snow and made it go all across the arena and over the audience. He continued as he was walking and as he worked the snow to go around himself, he would then jump high to the top rope and do a double full body twist flip to the ring.

As the last note ended, he made the snow spread out and was waiting with a no-nonsense look in his eyes as he waited for his opponent.

Re: Carmen Rodriquez vs. Snowman

So far, Tension was working out well for Carmen - it had been a learning experience, if nothing else. Fighting men all the time would have been weird enough, but the variety of new techniques was forcing her to mix up her style, try out nanalew tactics. She was becoming a new sort of fighter.

Maybe some other boxers would have found the change annoying, tried to cling to the old ways, but Carmen always prided herself on her ability to learn and adapt - when she was back in the ring, during the height of her boxing career, her victories hadn't come from overpowering opponents or just going at them crazy. She spent hours studying them, analyzing their styles, and it always paid off. She was a scalpel - precise, but potent. She didn't get the job done in the flashiest way, but she always got the job done.

Sometimes, though, studying wasn't an option. Like tonight.

She didn't know this guy, and couldn't find much info on him beyond some basics - she was working blind. Hated that. With rookies it was unavoidable, but against a guy who had some experience, it would hamper her style. She could work with it, improvise, though. She'd just have to be cautious. Extra cautious.

She made way down to the ring as [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpI2JSn2o0A:1e77agln]Hanuman[/url:1e77agln] started to play, receiving a better response than before - the crowd was starting to warm to her, it seemed. She was just wondering where the hell all the snow came from.

She slid into the ring and looked up, giving her opponent a long look over. Serious sort, he seemed. Very white - 'Snowman', indeed.

(What's Carmen wearing for this?)

When Carmen made her way into the ring, Snowman himself would also give a long look over. She looked quite strong for a woman and he found that very fascinating for rarely any women he met in this federation so far had any strength showing physically. He would walk to her and would bow his head respectfully as he spoke. "Ms. Rodriguez I presume." He was British based on his voice and it might seem new to Carmen, so he hoped she wouldn't mind it. "I have heard of you and your skill in boxing intrigues me."

Carmen paused for a moment, giving him a queer look - not quite sure what to make of him. She was half expecting him to start making ice jokes, but it seemed like that was just part of the looking nothing much to it.

She stepped back and pulled up her cargo pants, black and loose and good for movement. The grey A shirt matched it well, and her black boots were the final notch - she was dressed to fight. "Uh - thanks, I guess." She shrugged, feeling there was a compliment in there, somewhere. "You'll be seeing it soon enough, hope you like what you see."

She moved back and started getting into the mood, bouncing on her heels and starting up a rhythm.

Snowman remained stoic as she remained gazed upon Carmen as she fixed herself. "I believe the attire best gives me some thought on the next. I'm sure I'll be seeing more shortly." When Carmen stepped back to ready herself, Snowman would also step back, but would crack his neck left and right without flinching. Although he may not show it, the Brit considers the Latina quite beautiful and he's doing a good job of not showing it.

Once the ref signaled for the bell, Snowman would immediately walk back to the center and got in his fighting stance to prepare for Carmen. He knew that the first strike matters to know how you'll go in the match ahead.

She wasn't entirely sure what he meant by that, but it seemed innocuous enough. She'd be sure to talk to him more about - later, after she knocked him flat on his ass.

So. Working against an unknown. How to play this?

Starting on defense seemed like a solid idea - he wanted to see some boxing, and she'd gladly oblige him. She moved into a Peek-A-Boo stance and started to close in on, pushing forward with her guard held tight, curious to see how he responded and making sure to take notes.

So Carmen decides to go in the defense. Snowman wanted to be on defense, but two being on defense for too long can make the match lose interest. With no other choice, Snowman had to think on his first move to make it count. After a few seconds, he would move in to try and throw two hooks left and right before an uppercut. The two hooks were meant to make Carmen dodge and the uppercut to throw her off.

The good thing about playing Peek-A-Boo was that it made her a brick wall - wasn't good for dodging, but blocking was a snap. She raised her arms up, blocking the two hooks - their force was enough to rock her from side to side, but her guard stayed tight and secure. The uppercut was a bit of a different problem - that one slipped past her guard before she could block, hitting her gut and earning Snowman his first real hit, but she stayed stable.

"Little harder, little harder." She stepped back, just out of his range, beckoning him to come after her.

Snowman may have gotten a good hit on Carmen, but it can only go so far against a very skilled boxer. Seeing that Carmen was stepping back and beckoning him to come after, it seemed a little too easy for him to do. After all, the start is mostly the time when one fighter plays around with their opponent to throw them off their game. So, Snowman would follow, but kept his focus close.

Then an idea would come in mind that might just help him. He would rush in until close to Carmen to fake out a punch to try and throw Carmen off. If this worked, he would add in a haymaker punch with the other fist.

He came in fast, hard and heavy, throwing out a left - or seeming to. He pulled it back at the last moment and Camen wound up blocking from the wrong side, fully vulnerable and wide open as the haymaker slammed into her jaw.

The blow snapped her back and to the side, taking her whole body with it, but she turned back she didn't come empty handed - she turned back into him with a heavy left hook, throwing the blow right into his gut
